@@M4B21S88 the technology is much newer than automatic transmissions. F1 allowed them for one season, but they ended up being so incredibly busted that they were banned immediately. A CVT can be built for power, it's just the people who buy cvts want mpg and savings not power and car media has villanized cvts. A cvt doesn't have to be built with economy in mind and a flimsy rubber and metal plated belt. A cvt can be built using steel chains for the belt and gears *combined* with the cone and pulley system of a cvt. People have done it before. Hyundai kia is doing it. Just give it time. And F the noise. Performance is everything.
@@AR-ix8fq CVTs are seen by automakers as econo transmissions. There’s a reason why they put em in economy cars. Yes, there are clear benefits of not having gears, however, more modern transmissions are so quick shifting that they almost kinda sorta shift like a “fake shifting” cvt Ford’s 10 speed, for example. The Accords 10 speed is very good as well. Gearing is important, too. Longer gears are for better fuel efficiency, shorter gears are more aggressive and shift quicker, etc. not all automatics are created equal, especially sport cars since they tend to have different options for the buyer. Do I want more aggressive gear changes at the expense of fuel efficiency? Yes. The DCT has the benefit of not having a TC and, therefore, yields slightly less powertrain losses. However, yet again, a lot of modern transmissions are more efficient and lose less power….. F1 cars are not cars you daily. So idk why bring em up. You do not abuse a CVT…long term. It wont handle it…im sure Honda didnt build an economy car to withstand race car capabilities. While I have no idea what mods are on that civic, I can tell you that it is way more than just a stg 2 tune…and THAT is what is giving it its advantage, primarily. Cuz, you know, pro tunes and mods increase power, especially on turbo cars.
@@M4B21S88 F1 technology is important as it trickles down into regular cars. The amount of race car innovations that have made their way into regular cars is incalculable. But any who that's besides the point. Even the best tuned ZF8 still needs to build power as it shifts. A cvt can deliver peak power through every ratio. Also, with a cvt, you can easily set a maximum engine rpm. Eco mode and your car will never pass 2000 rpm. Set it to sport plus and it will keep your car at 5500 rpm. Perfect power delivery. And again, the abuse and reliability argument is meaningless. CVT is way newer. Early automatic transmissions were unreliable too. If built for power (like in racing car) it can handle power just fine. And btw as for longevity, Toyota Prius cvt's are going to last longer than human civilization.

Its because the engine will stay at the rpm where power and torque is at its peak usually at the highest rpm. Thats why it sounds loud and sounds like not accelerating because it is at its highest rpm where the highest power output is available. Conventional transmission has to build up power over and over again every gear change because when you change gear, the rpm will go lower again thus lower power output again, unlike cvt where power and torque is constant/continuous all throughout the acceleration. Power and torque varies depending on rpm. Usually lower rpm = lower power. Cvt are kind of like changing gear smoothly (infinitely) while keeping the engine running on its best and constant rpm where power and torque is at its peak/best.

That 1.5 engine from the Civic. How can it be able to handle so much power? We want more info on this car.
The 1.5T has forged internal parts from the factory. They already know tuners will have their way with them. 😁
@@gymanemoody7143 Some say this engine has "oil dilution problems".
@@Eugen-E Yeah, I've read that. I never noticed it in mine. I think there's some kind of law suit against Honda for that as well. I haven't been following Honda lately.
@@gymanemoody7143 so, is this your car ?
@@Eugen-E I had one almost identical to it. I sold mine off after the steering went to crap with under 50k on the odometer.
That's also a known issue, that Honda turns a blind eye to.
Put a JB4 on that K5 and let's do it again
That wouldn't be a fair race. K5 would smoke it.
It would be a good race than a raced a few k5s with a jb4 with my Cali srt they ain’t too bad they don’t even loose too bad
Kinda unfair. They need to race it with a accord.
They did… and the civic still won against the 2.0L sport accord with the 10 speed transmission
Everyone was like oh the 1.5 honda cvt is garbage it cant make power it cant do this it cant do that, now sam brings a civic 1.5 cvt that's kicking a$$ , everyone changing their mouth oh yeah cvt are really good for racing............these 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡s
@@nickmotsarsky4382 nah man, thing has held up with power for the last couple years. It's solid
Everybody!!!!!!!! is SURPRISED at the same time. Fact
Wow... Honda built a great CVT... It takes all that HP without blowing up...
For how long 🤔
@@2R1V3R Read a Jose Lopez or sth in the comment section, he's been pounding his mod Honda's CVT for two years at least, no issues whatsoever.
@@disco.lemonade im not try to say there bad transmissions.. honda had them for awhile for the best gas mileage around if you dont have a heavy foot lol. Nissan on the other hand had them on their other models an also on their v6 Maxima an it trash. Me personally i dont like them 🤷♂️
Once again Excellent, can't wait for the Dragy addition to your videos you mentioned
Please guys stop overreacting to the honda..its 500lbs less, its tuned and its a turbo!!!! tune the k5 n watch the honda eat dust. just saying. The honda isnt stock
Calm down. The kia is also more expensive. It was just a comparison.
Why the fk is the civic pulling so hard in the roll though?
Turbo engine with a CVT = no boost drop constant boost the whole run. Too bad most CVT's don't hold up to power thrown at them cause they would make a good transmission for booted engines.
Keep that cvt fluid changed, and use amsoil if you do lots of fast driving/racing. Either way, change the fluid, and highly highly recommend amsoil if you have a CVT and want it to last.
Почему Аmsoil ?
Bruh 😯😮😯😮 man I thought cvt couldn't handle 300hp but clearly this one right here is not like rest...I like how the civic is stylish and got power unlike most civics that always riced out and can't even beat corolla,,,good job by both owners
It can handle the HP just not the torque. Hondata and ktuner did an amazing job of regulating torque so the little cvt can live a long prosperous life. I’ve had my civic sport hatchback tuned with full bolt ons and on a ktuner e30 tune for the last 2 years and it’s still going strong.
@@joelopez5018 yeah but are you doing so many of drag racing like this dude and making 300hp?
CVTs experience the most wear from a standstill. Otherwise they do well holding power.
Need a tuned accord 10 speed 2.0t!!! The 10 speed needa some love mated with the VTEC Turbo 2.0
They already raced a tuned accord on this channel. It got smoked
@@martintintin7729 yeah that was stage 2. I mean a custom tune. Custome tune makes 330whp and 380wtq. But tbh vw dsg is really nice and that 2.0 they have is incredible.
@@noahpike8274 yeah as much as I love the accord the DSG with the 2.0 responds better
That Civic is Crazy
I wish his bumper would fit the Civic hatchbacks... His car has the perfect look for an exhaust exit.
TLX Type S 3.0T vs Civic 1.5Tuned
Ahahahaha this cvt is killing that type s easy
Type s is slow, a K5 GT would walk it
You should do more races with the N-Line.
Okay a 2021 car cant show any better performance compared to a 2018 model. Nice job Civic
Hey Sam! We're missing your short commentary at the start and end of the video for your recent clips... It's much nicer with it.
Lol the only way Honda can win is getting the engine modified. 👎🏻 A TUNED honda that cost at least 5,000 extra dollars vs a stock K5 I’m not impressed. Mod that K5 then come back and race again.
Civic is not a baby toy... thats a BIG boys toy ....😄😁😄😁
I would also love to see a Mercedes AMG gt63s or an M8 competition. Those would be cool against some of their competitors
Vtec just kicked in yo!
Sadly no vtec lol

damn that civic tho >_>
See I told you guys that tuned Civic CVT is disturbingly fast car and said it before that you will need a new BMW M3 or M550i to beat that thing looks like that Civic will take out the M340i too in the roll race cause the Kia K5 GT is nearly as fast as Stinger GT in roll race and that Civic blew the doors off that K5 GT so I can assure you that Civic is faster than the M340i.... That Civic is *SEVERELY* underrated there is no way in heck it's putting out 300hp at the crank more like 400hp.....
No just no, an m340i can do 12.3 seconds in the quarter mile while that kia can do 13.7. That Civic is fast but the m340i is on another level.
@@jehadwadi4554 No...not so seeing how hard that Civic pulls on a roll race. It blew the doors off that K5 GT. That means that Civic will also pull on the Stinger GT like a freight train.. I am afraid to say that the M340i won't be able to keep up in the roll race it will get beaten. I am not even sure if C63S AMG can take it either. You gonna need to bring in the E63S AMG or the new M5 to take that Civic down in the roll race.
@@rockefelleragent1357 while this cvt is stupidly fast, it won't hang with those cars, maybe the roll it'll put up a fight but it'll get destroyed from a dig, those cars has dedicated launch control system and the launch like a bat outta hell
@@nickmotsarsky4382 From dig of course the M340i will take it and finish the quarter mile while the Civic is catching up... based on my observations how that Civic pulls on other cars I don’t think the M340i will be able to keep up...it will get taken out. M550i or the new M3 should be able to beat the Civic from roll but not by much. I am afraid to say that Civic owner isn't very honest as to his claimed horsepower under the hood. I’m surprised the cvt hasn’t been torn up by now with that type of power
How is that possible for a CVT. Im gonna buy civic.
That drone almost beat both off the line.
Can you tell me what are the improvements that the civic has
Wouldn’t this cause the Cvt to break overtime cause the stress, I have a maxima and I was told that too much torque can cause the Cvt to overheat or snap
This is a honda cvt not garbage Nissan
Nissan ( jatco) cvts are garbage. Honda makes their own .Much tougher
I thought Drady numbers were going to be included ?
Good job civic 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just smoked an si with a gtline
Drive the honda until the warranty runs out...the cvt reliability scares me
Honda CVTs are some of the more reliable CVTs, having similar reliability to a Toyota CVT and Subaru CVT. It's just the Nissan and GM CVTs that aren't all that reliable.
@@Blank00 good to know because the cars i heard the stories about were nissan
Raced my coworkers Honda Accord against my Kia Stinger and I was surprised that it kept up neck and neck for about 50 meters but at the end I just took off. Very impressive though!
Bullshit, Honda's accord shits on the stinger..
Kia anything = 🌈
Civic said "Sell it!"
Never underestimate a Honda
Not really surprised, civic has more horse power and weighs less
Incridable civic power .... Kia owner can tuned your gt obtaining extra power up to 400hp .. Just do it man.
Surprising a bit with the CVT, but then it makes some sense
What else is done to the civic besides a tune?
FBO, custom tune, and I think a big turbo but could be wrong.
@Rob K. how is cvt gonna handle the power of a typ r tubo
How about a list of mods??
How is the cvt holding on with that much power?

Love the top view from drone, but it would be perfect if the view can follow the leading car more closely to the finish line.
I don't get it- the civic is CVT automatic?
The beauty of it is if he wins, it's a Honda but if he loses its also a Honda
But I wasn't expecting that results
Thats a dumb thing to say. Honda's dont lose and thats why he won..

Less weight and more HP, not a shocking outcome.
