No matter what brand you have if you don't take care of your car the car can't take care of you...
Unless it's a mark 4 VW gti. I was so picky with that car on maintenance and cleaning it and there was always an issue, not matter how I took care of it.
Cars are also luck..also very important to use ONLY what the manufacture recommend (oils, original oil filters, water coolant , etc..) if you use anything other then G12(++ is the new) the VW engine will make a lot of troubles
I come from different brands and back in time everyone was asking why I buy a $37,000 Kia Now 11 year's later and 157, miles The car run find without issue... Same with the Rover back in time I spend $57, 000 in a truck when everyone say those truck come with a lote of problems .. Today after good maintenance booth running fine without issues reason why I don't change for nothing those cars.
"Cars just need love is part of the family"
Exactly, the reasonable price for normal cars should not exceed $18,000 and with good maintenance during 10 years you can use the money difference of these pricey cars $5,000 - $8,000 to maintain your $18,000 car instead of buying $24,000-$30,000 cars & paying extra money for maintenance & spare part once the warranty expires which is ( 1-3 years in my country for Toyota & Honda ! )
On my Honda Accord 2005 I have only changed coil, clutch, dynamo, transmission oil and battery once, but never the timing belt or exhaust systems.I've had the car for 10 years now without service(!)and it has now went 270000 km with almost no problems.

I live in Calgary and I'd owed Honda's since my first car, until I bought a 2011 Sorento EX, and I'm still loving it, she's at 245,000 km (150k miles) and only visited the mechanic 2 years ago to get the front suspension fixed, at the time I had as well a 2006 honda civic which in 2014 I decided to replace it for a new Forte, and today, after 100k miles it hasn't been at the mechanic or the dealership for any repairs. Only things I do on my cars is brakes and oil changes. I still love Honda's but Kia has earned my trust.

The problem with car dealers is there are not enough GOOD mechanics anywhere!
Sadly it is a dying breed. As a mechanic, I wish more people world find a love for it. There would be a lot more common sense in the world.
Right- Once you find a competent, honest mechanic (NOT a dealership, Honda or otherwise), you stick with him. He will keep your Honda running almost forever and save you many thousands by not overcharging or repairing imaginary problems.
Wrong. They are very good mechanics. But they’re also scammers
Sorry I did not clarify. I'm not a professional ASE certified mechanic. I'm home grown/self taught with the help of my dad and grandpa and my love for cars. I learned how to work on cars the old fashioned way. But yes I agree with you all. Working for a company is rough. Easier to work on cars as needed and as a hobby for modifying your car. I don't know if I want to do it professionally.
..or electronics trouble shooters. Seems like pretty much the same difference these days.
Back when “Yundai” was trash in the early 2000’s my neighbors had two. The motors crapped out on both of them. They took them to the dealership and they got brand new vehicles no cost.
I don't think Kia and Hyundai can sell junk and offer 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warrenties. If Mercedes did that they're out of buisness!
The way it was explained to me is they have to have that long of a warranty to cover all of the recalls. I've had at least five on both of my Kia's. Luckily nothing too bad, but Honda rarely has recalls
Question one : warranty transferrable? How many Americans would keep a car for 100k? Not the majority

I find kia/hyundai is not up to Toyota/Honda level yet but I'll give them credit that they are getting there
Both Korean brands have come a long way. I love my Hyundai Sonata. One of the main causes of the price difference is that Hyundai produces their own steel
Joseph DeLucia well I have a 2017 so that’s good I guess
And sell steel to other carmakers.
@Joseph DeLucia i must have dodged the bullet with my 09. Only issues i had were battery related and i caused those myself.
What sonata do you got. I got an 11' and BOY does it suck. Heavy winds today and i have to go 20mph over the limit to keep up with the tail of traffic.
45k+ miles on 2nd engine, 144k+ on the clock. Not worth it, but as a daily. It'll do.
Hyundai sonata and Santa Fe are some of the best vehicles out there. you still see them on the road even if they're from 2002.
my old boss has a Hyundai Gensis when they first brought it to the states; dude has had 0 problems with it.
I have a 2007 Kia Sorento, with 225,000+ miles. Best reliable car I've ever owned. Going for 500,000.

@@temle7489 I got my money's work out of the vehicle. I don't plan to sell it anytime soon. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. I've had Fords, Buicks, Jeeps, Chevy's and Chrysler products. Kia is way and away better than any of those. Though I did get 300,000 on my 1984 Mustang GT, but it didn't age that well.
Cap it at 250-300k and call it a day. The amount of money you will wind up spending to rebuild the entire thing just isn't worth it. The transmission alone is sure to go, and that's several thousand bucks.
Own 2003 and 2007 Honda pilots with 242k and 153k miles, respectively. Great vehicles and still rolling.
2016 Honda Accord EX 2.4L CVT with 26k miles. Broke down with bad high pressure fuel pump for direct Injection engine. First Honda I've ever owned that had to be towed to the dealer.
@Skyelord Phoenix It's my first CVT and honestly it's not bad. You have to get used to the peculiar operation. We routinely average 35mpg combined on the Accord so if that is the tradeoff, I'm ok with it.
I'm just frustrated that after owning Honda vehicles for over 25 years, this was the first one to break down on me. With the oil dilution issue on their turbo engines, my eyes are starting to drift towards other manufacturers when I put my 2003 Pilot out to pasture this summer. My confidence in Honda has been severely damaged.
I wish they would offer manual for every vehicle. I just came from Cuba and every vehicle there including buses are manual transmission.
@@seanlacroix I grew up rowing a manual tranny on my 1994 Acura Integra as my first vehicle. I put over 120k miles on that before I had to sell it for a bigger vehicle bc my son was born. I literally shed a tear thinking about how much I miss her....*damn* here we go again. 😢😭
@Skyelord Phoenix Yeah I saw Toyota's recent recall. This is the first Honda where I don't have full confidence, that given my usual meticulous maintenance schedule, it will hit 200k miles. Hell, it was barely 27k miles before it completely died on me while driving on the highway. Luckily still under warranty but what happens when it expires later this year?
This is why I'm actually considering a Kia Telluride...maybe a lease to check it out first.
@Skyelord Phoenix Correct. I believe Hyundai still uses conventional automatic transmissions in most of their vehicles. Honda uses CVTs on most of their vehicles. FYI...Toyota is having major problems with their "new" CVT engine.
Owned a 2002 Accord Coupe V6 with 200k+ miles in it and it still runs like new
I got a 4 cylinder 02 ex coupe. 188K miles. Reliable as it gets.
Same here.. Its not running now..because I lost the only key I had for it....smh 😂😂😂
I had 1998 Accord, and automatic transmission had to be replaced at around 50k miles.
there was a massive recall, supposedly, I never got a letter from Honda, probably I moved around a lot at that time.
and supposedly recall period was over, and I had to pay $500 for new transmission, the dealer said.
which was not a lot of money, so I just paid the damn money, and didn't bother to argue.

@@_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- but I do
Lol no way
It's not the most fun car to drive but everything works and I can get around town. Any diesel engine should do easy 500k.
Kia has very quietly upped its vehicle quality, and in a hurry. In 2001, my insurance company wouldn't even cover Kia. I'm not joking. The Spectra started earning respect. Today, all their stuff is at or near the top of the pack in initial quality. Scotty is still stuck in the 90"s.
I had a 2006 Honda Civic, drove it 72,000 miles before totalling it. Under warrantee I had to have interior trim replaced, driver's side power window motor replaced (twice), passenger side power window motor (once), rear passenger side power door lock replaced, power trunk latch replaced, and air conditioning went out and took a month to fix in the middle of summer. Thank God I'd gotten an extended warrantee. Brakes were done at 60,000 miles and the guy at Midas was shocked, said he usually saw cars like mine go through brakes in about half the time.
After totalling it I got a Hyundai Sonata. Long story; I'd been trying to negotiate the price on an Accord but the dealership refused to negotiate, so I went across the street to the Hyubdai dealer to spite them. I traded that car in at 52,000 miles with not a single problem.
I traded it in on a Santa Fe Sport (2.0t). It's 7 years old and I've put 96,000 miles on it. I've only had to replace a fuel pump under warrantee and I'm currently having a problem with the transmission fluid temp sensor, which is getting repaired under warrantee. Those have been the only issues with it. No interior trim falling off, no power window or door lock issues, the brakes are still the factory set but will need to be replaced soon, the battery was finally replaced about a month ago. I just change the oil every 5,000 miles and she keeps treating me well.
After paying off the Santa Fe I bought a 2018 Accord, before the 1.5t engine issues became a popular topic. No major issues mechanically, but I'm seeing a number of fit and finish issues again; trim falling off, not properly attached to begin with, and now chipping paint is becoming a discussion topic that has me worried.
Suffice it to say, I've been more impressed with my Hyundai ownership experience than my Honda one. The only reason for getting a Honda over a Hyundai IMO is the better driving dynamics.

KIA cars were all junk before 2012. My 2006 KIA Rio has 175k and its plagued with many electrical problems and more. The ECM fried at 150k miles (still runs okay), catalytic converter blew up at 100k miles, timing belt exploded and destroyed the cylinder head (cost $1,800 to fix), automatic transmission was sluggish and has sloppy shifting since it was brand new, and the radio and a/c climate controls are glitchy and they change the settings on there own. I still have the car; I am just waiting for something major to fail so i can have a reason to replace it.

It became a money pit, due the the shotty alignment I had to keep rotating tires, turning and buying rotors and brake pads. Sucks, all of my cars have been Honda also. Honda is not what it use to be.

Had a 2011 Forte EX we traded for a 2013 Sportage EX AWD and never looked back. Over 100k and never had a problem (yet). Love the Kia’s so much we bought a 2016 Soul. Sure Honda makes good cars, they make good bikes and lawn mowers too.
I have a 2014 KIA Optima and of all of the cars I have ever owned, this one hands down, is by far the best vehicle I have ever driven.
My dad has a Kia Sportage with 300,000 miles on it and that car is still running strong. I think it depends on how well you take car of the car.
He must've got a good one
Absolutely right. Preventive maintenance is the key.
I have Kia Optima GT 2016 and have done 150,000 km. Run like brand new. Only done is regular service.
I like Honda, Hyundai and Kia, but as much as like sporty cars, I would stay away from the turbo charged versions of all three companies. They've all had issues, and longterm reliability is iffy!
7 months ago I brought second hand 2014 Kia Ceed SW 1.6CRDI 6speed manual for for 8000USD. Car had 128.000km on the clock only two owners, it looks like brand new inside and outside and it runs great, no error or any code...
After less then 2 months both front LED day running lights start to flicker and after week or so they both stop to working. I thought OK, big deal... I will replace them myself, how hard it can be.. BUT!
These KIA LED daylights are sealed inside of headlights and they can not be replaced separately! Basically you have to replace whole headlight!
In Kia service repair cost for replacing two front Headlights was 2400USD!!! CRAZY!
Luckily car was still under warranty and KIA agree to replace free of charge both headlights and other stuff that I reported: noise in rear left wheel bearing, driver seat-belt mechanism(it was sticking), cabin air fan blower(it had clicking noise when running)...
Cost for all that repairs was over 3200USD!! Almost half of the car value! Thank god that I had warranty!
In meanwhile when my Kia was at the service on those warranty repairs I was still driving my old 1991 Honda Accord 2.2L which has 225.000km on the clock and it runs perfectly, I never had problems with it and I brought it for 600USD years ago... Best buy ever made! My Honda was cheaper then my mobile phone that year and car passed last year inspection without a single error or glitch and it burns no oil. BTW, that day/night light bulb on my Honda cost 3 bucks to replace, cabin fan still runs nice even after 29 years as well seat-belt mechanism, wheel bearings etc... Everything still works great on my 29 year young Honda Accord Best car I ever owned :)
P.S. Something tells me that my 1991 Honda Accord will outlast my 2014 Kia Ceed SW :D

I used to have a 2004 and that was a nice car!
Honda is better than Kia
That ticking must drive you nuts on the highway!
I also have that generation Accord with a manual transmission. I kid you not when I tell you it will drive me through a nuclear fallout and back!
@@supersabrosinho I have 205,000 miles on my 2007 Accord manual, and my dad has 280,000 miles on his 2003 Accord V6
One of the things that helped early Hyundais was their customer service policy. Got my wife an Excel back in the late 80s. We took it in for a minor problem and they even replaced (without asking) a seat cover that my wife damaged when she dropped a lit cigarette on the seat. They said it was warranty, but it was more of a move to build corporate loyalty. By the way, I hear the correct way to say it is "HUN day".........
Have a Kia Sportage with 320000 love it
is it possible?????????? 320000...
Appetit Bon I had a 2001 Accent GL with a 5 speed that I sold at 310k miles. ran for a few years after.
2007 honda accord. Has 285,000 miles and no oil leaks. I'll stick with Honda.
Do you think an 07 Accord with 65,000 miles for $8k would be a good deal? There's one at my local dealership but they want over $10k for it.
Ikr Honda is better than Kia
Ryan Littleton absolutely. I have a ford fusion 2016 with 110k miles and they are priced at $10k.. so if you can get a honda .. hell yes! As long as no issues of. Ourse
Ryan Littleton Seems like a good deal, but I think you could ask to pay a bit less. I bought my 2007 Accord with 26k miles for $8k 3 years ago to give you a point of reference. Only difference is that I bought mine from a private seller, not a dealer.
@@ryanlittleton5615 Like Scotty says, have a mechanic like him look it over!
I have a 2012 KIA RIO JB with 140,000km in it. Still works fine.
I have a 2017 Kia Cadenza. So far I love this car. No issues yet. I am currently at 33k miles. Interior design is what sold me. AC runs great which is a plus in Florida.
