Nice video Gman, still love ur surroundings, nice and tranquil. :) Gotta say the Atom 3 does great, glad i have a couple of them, and also have the Fimi 3 also. GreetingS again from oregon, usa have a nice December.
Greetings from SC.👋😀.. Absolutely 💯 amazing and so very beautiful. I love the snow ❄️❄️. Snow flights are truly breathtaking. I have the Potensic Atom SE drone, but I just love it. It's so quiet and fly's great. A fantastic comparison. Thank you so very much for sharing this wonderful video and God bless you and your family always 🙏. Send some snow ❄️ to us in SC lol. 😂
I took my X8SE 2022v2/TX10 out yesterday. 35F = 1.677C. Experienced the dreaded tilted horizon, which did straightened out eventually. The controls seemed to be sluggish, and I didn't think the camera was that sharp either. Thank you for taking the time to do the comparison. Looks very peaceful (and cold)
Great comparison. Unfortunately your atom also has the problem I have, center left area is blurry, not really out of focus but more a ghosting effect. You can see this best when you zoom into your shoveling neighbor. The video is still ok but no where near the quality as other reviewers show in warm sunny weather.
Great informative video. Im kind of bummed. I ordered the fimi 3. It will be here Saturday. I will fly it as soon as i can. I will probably send it back and find another drone.
In my search to find my perfect drone. I needed to find waypoints with POI. Thought I had found it with the Fimi mini 3, but two reviewers (you) have found that videos and photos are out of focus in cold weather, and horizons are not level. This only occurs in cold weather. What are the chances that these types of errors can be solved with firmware updates, and do you think Fimi will actually do it?
Just an observation: ok we have an issue when we are under 10 degrees, but we are at -8 degrees and the normal temperature of exercise would be from 0 to 40, as written in the instruction manual for the Fimi.
Thanks for the review! I've had the FIMI Mini 3 for a few months now. Overall, the video quality was good initially, but over time, I’ve noticed the left side of the footage becoming increasingly blurry and out of focus. Changing the video settings hasn’t made any difference. Have you experienced anything similar?
@@edmondomazzantini : Yes.. that's the point! Even the Hubsan ACE2 4-G ($1,125usd) has issues... but the Potensic doesn't??? Something is wrong somewhere.. and yet the Fimi X8 Mini V2 and the X8SE 2022 don't have issues either...
@@GorillamansGarage I think the culprit could be the sensors that are different from the older models of Fimi. The Potensic definitely has a different CMOS, less sensible to low temperature.
The Fimi X8 Mini V2 and X8 SE 2022 do not have this issue. I would honestly stick with a DJI product right now or wait for Potensic to update their Atom.
The Fimi camera has better specs. They work in warm weather. The camera is likely focused to infinity at altitude on warm days, all we need Fimi to do is expose the manual focus settings in the ui, then we can set it to infinity as most gps drones run.
I agree with you. I read the wikipedia page of Shenzhen, where Fimi technology factory is, and the average lowest temperature of the region is 15.4 degrees in January. Maybe that's why they suggested me to fly when it's warmer than 15 degrees Celsius. Anyway: yesterday I had 12 degrees here in Italy and my Fimi mini 3 worked absolutely fine. There is a bit of tolerance evidently. I understand the disappointment of the people who live in cold regions of the planet.
At last, this could explain my problem... I took lots of videos in Chilean Patagonia during the last week of september and first half of october with my Mini 3. That is the beginning of spring over here, and the winter refused to leave. The temperature was mostly between 8 and 15 degrees Celsius, even on sunny days. And most of my videos are slightly out of focus. I have been looking everywhere for an explanation, no response from Fimi. You can see some examples here th-cam.com/video/BgPZRWymWIE/w-d-xo.html. This is the first time I take a drone to a trip, so please don't be too harsh with some of the horrible scenes(unexpected turns, etc)... The wobbly videos are from a battered F22s with gimbal problems.
@@eulogiorobles5516 I' Ve been watching your footage. Just two things: I need you to rotate the camera slowly to obtain a good video and.....sometimes in those drones, if the image is over exposed, you risk to record a slightly out of focus video (a sort of noise due to the strong direct or reflected light). This is just the case I'm talking about. Not all your footage is unfocused but only in specific positions. Set the EV to -0.3/-0.7 and everything will be ok. For temperatures under 7/8 degrees.....you have to wait because....no solution at the moment for the "jello" effect that I see when you fly in the snow .
@@Gv-in-2-it it's seems like the camera becomes "stiff" with the cold and slower to compensate for movements and focus regulation. Actually the chance to set the focus manually could solve the second issue. For the "jello", I have the sneaky suspect that it could be impossible to really get solved. It seems related to the electric motor of the gimbal in my experience. You can adjust the gain but, as gorillaman did, when you zoom in....the "jello strikes back".
Hey GM, Another great video. I haven't tested mine in cold weather yet. I'll let you know what I find out. Let me know if you get a response from FIMI. Keep Flying and stay warm. D
For the Fimi Mini's.. it's not the same as with the X8 Tele or the earlier X8 Mini V1... On the older ones you could at least fly around for a few minutes with no effect. This time.. the effect is immediate. The horizon tilt is really bad on the mIni's now. Fimi have to do something rather than coming out with another 3 new drones.
What's your thoughts on the potensic SE. I paid $130.00. I did buy the fast charge included with the charger 1 spare battery. The potensic I bought came with 2 batteries a day the case remote it was used it said but looks brand new. Potensic sold these on ebay used
I can only suspect that the SE model is similar tot he Fimi Mini 3 SE with EIS. I don't really know first hand. I have seen some results online that show the EIS is not the best.
By coincidence I just completed a flight minutes ago with my Fimi Mini 3 in the cold. Based upon your video about the Fimi Mini 3 focus issue last week I thought I'd see if mine suffers the same out of focus issue in cold weather as you experienced. It was +3 C and I found that the video looked slightly out-of-focus but all the 48M still shots had poor focus that you could easily see fully zoomed out. The alignment for the horizon seemed ok though. This was the fist time I've flown it in colder weather (< 12 C). Needless to say that the usefulness of this drone's camera is mostly nonexistent for me in colder weather and disappointed in these results as I had some uses for it this winter. I can only hope that the issue is not mechanical in nature due to the cold, (as in) a change of the focal point of the imaging system. Flying, stability and handling seemed fine.
Do you think there is any chance that any of these issues will be solved with software patches, or are they all hardware related? I recently ordered a Fimi Mini 3 without knowing about these issues.
Fimi has said they know about the issues and that was before I posted this... but they have not responded to anyones requests for information... th-cam.com/video/W9OYUks64NA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ao32rA6edYLaESAM
@@GorillamansGarage , thanks! Yes, I watched that video. I got concerned because you said they never retroactively managed to fix whatever was wrong with the cold weather performance of their older versions.
Idk how you northerners do it. I mean it looks just cold as I sit on my couch in SW Florida. I was out in a t shirt today. Just got my 1st drone today a dji mini 3. Beautiful scenery up there for sure
