Hi, I’m sorry. Am I ask? On a video you said there is no automatic frequency change between. 2.4 and 5.8 for controlling the Fimi mini 3 by the way I’m looking on the app there is only manual switching between them frequency for video not for dron controller which ever make a little bit different with the distance I’m a little bit confused because today it’s gonna turn up dron and I want modified antenna I’m gonna be appreciated for extra opinion 😅
Please suggest me the best drone as I am confused weather the video quality time is awsome for Fimi mini 3 or not? or video quality result is better for dji or Fimi mini 3? Please also tell me something about durability of Fimi mini 3.
That's difficult, but I would leave the Atom. But saying that I recently went on holiday and took the Fimi and the Atom and left the dji at home! All 3 shot great video though...
Hi, I finally got my Fimi Mini 3 and it all works great but somehow it disconnects and get sporadic connection between launch site and about 300-400m. Which way do you recommend the antennae point? Are they up or flat? I've seen other reviewers get out to 5.5kms before the battery needs to RTH. I'm thinking it's the orientation of the antennae.
I was able to get almost two miles over the Pacific Ocean with my Atom with no breakup... I think rth kicked in at 1.8 or 1.9 MI The atom also has no problem hitting a mile over populated areas... however after a mile itll start to get iffy over heavily populated areas
2.25mi / 3345(?)m is my farthest away record on potensic atom :) standing at one end of 1/8mi street & flying past other end for no obstructions down low by me is key :) i use sport mode so not sure if normal would get me farther since it returns because of intelligent low battery alert.. i use the 5el yagis too.
@@carlthomas5481 nice... I'm pretty sure I was flying in normal mode. The intelligent battery kicked in the rth and by the time I got back I still had 20% battery
A good/valid test that shows the Fimi Mini 3, The Potensic Atom and DJI Mini 4K can fly 500m with good signal strength. How much further? Thanks for the test.
You could go with the dji mini 3 with a bigger sensor, but that's $420, Or Dji mini 4k for $300 Or Dji mini 4 pro $760 All of these have only 1 battery. The mini 4 pro has all of the features you need, mini 4k and mini 3 don't have waypoints, Tracking ect.. I believe that the Fimi mini 3 is the best bang for your buck right now. Sure, Dji's are better, but the cost is very high.
Correct me if I am wrong. It looks like you superimposed the HD recorded video over the live screen. Why? I know the recorded video is unaffected by range. The concern is poor fpv video, video break-up and control hesitation.
I showed the video from the sd cards to let people see the quality of the video on top of the signal performance. No breakup or controlling issues with any of these drones 👍
I fly DJI drones from Phantom 2,3 to Mavic Pro to Zoom and I praise these products. But out of these tested I elevate the Potensic which is a very capable drone for small and friendly money in a combo version. The range can go up to 5km and the battery holds very well the promised minutes the drone is in the air from the manufacturer. Worth a Potensic for consideration. Yes I still prefer the Mini 4 over it despite these tests, but the Potensic interests me too.
DJI has Superior radio technology at this point... I just took my potenaic atom 2 miles off the coast of San Diego over the ocean without any breakup. My biggest gripe with it (atom) the latency and the low light. I fly two drones every day. My atom and my DJI FPV.

I got 2 UNITS of DJI MINI 4K. They have different signal. One of them went to 4.3km without freezing the image. The other unit went to 1.4km without freezing the image. I really don't know what is happening, 'cause i did the SAME way flying they SAME high
That's very strange 🤔 Only thing I can think of is if one of them isn't set on duel band in the app? Or maybe one is faulty possible loose connection in one of the drones antenna in the legs?
I feel like there's really only like 3 drones. There's DJI, and then there's all the other drone brands, which seem like they're all just rebrands or slight design tweaks, with some cost cuts or an extra feature here and there, from only like 2 different OEMs. The budget, like $150 to $400, I mean.
Yep, true, though I don't think potensic and Fimi are connected though. It's like you either get the dji mini 4 or save some cash and get one of these with all of the extra features.
It's DJI mini 2 number 1 Potensic is true to it's signal specs ..second .. Fimi 3 horribly last by a long shot unless your using parabolics ... Fimi decides to leave it's 9klm range that should be 5klm as say it's potential .. Both potensic and fimi the mobile is dependent on it's range .. If mobiles gps has not being calibrated those numbers fall right down ..
Thats not a signal test. You certainly didn’t go the distance you could have. People don’t understand radio waves. You said the fimi should have the worst. Thats just not true. 2.4ghz will go much further then 5.8. The reason they have both is for disturbance, not distance. The dji is just ridiculous. Control, control, control. They dumb down that signal to cotrol you. They are much more capable.
Unfortunately, I couldn't go any further in my country as it's illegal. I was just trying to highlight the fact that all of these signal wise perform well with vlos flying. Yeh, 5.8 is a narrower channel but doesn't suffer with interference. I'm guessing it's good for city flying ect

A little about frequency and the range of the signal. If you double the frequency, the signal strength is reduced to a quarter at the same distance due to the attenuation in the atmosphere. If you want to transmit really far, several thousand km, then you transmit on "long wave" which can be 200-300 kHz. But in certain environments, you can find other advantages, such as immunity to interference, by choosing higher frequencies.
Why just 500m? Better to test til signal loss. My test where I live. Fimi Mini 3 flies 650m. DJI Mini 2 flies 1.1km PS. Your location appears to be a low congested wifi area so signal should be good for every drone you fly there.
Fimi X8 Mini V2 is already capable of going 5000 meters away very easily in rural areas by 5.8 ghz communication. Adding 2.4 ghz mode to the drone is useless if it's not able to skip to best frequency automatically. In addition to that, need for landing the drone to change from 2.4 ghz to 5.8 ghz or the other way must be a joke 😂 So there is no need to buy Fimi Mini 3 if you have the V2, or be sad that you bought the V2 very recently. Fimi X8 Mini series are not superior as DJI anyway. Only reason for buying them is the fact that they are No-NFZ. But with Fimi Mini 3 they are introducing NFZ, making Mini 3 less desirable.
Yeh, it is annoying that you have to land to switch frequency. I don't own the v2, so I can't comment. Dji are superior, but with this, you get so many features for less money than any Dji.

I think it's for both the video feed and the rc connection 🤔
But yes manual switching only...
Please suggest me the best drone as I am confused weather the video quality time is awsome for Fimi mini 3 or not? or video quality result is better for dji or Fimi mini 3?
Please also tell me something about durability of Fimi mini 3.
If you'd have to decide to leave only one of the three mentioned here which one would you choose?
That's difficult, but I would leave the Atom. But saying that I recently went on holiday and took the Fimi and the Atom and left the dji at home!
All 3 shot great video though...
Hi, I finally got my Fimi Mini 3 and it all works great but somehow it disconnects and get sporadic connection between launch site and about 300-400m. Which way do you recommend the antennae point? Are they up or flat?
I've seen other reviewers get out to 5.5kms before the battery needs to RTH. I'm thinking it's the orientation of the antennae.
I fly with 1 up and 1 down. So, 1 pointing to the drone and the other 1 with the flat part pointing to the drone. That seems to work for me.
I was able to get almost two miles over the Pacific Ocean with my Atom with no breakup... I think rth kicked in at 1.8 or 1.9 MI
The atom also has no problem hitting a mile over populated areas... however after a mile itll start to get iffy over heavily populated areas
It still amazes me how far these drones can actually travel battery wise and signal!
A good/valid test that shows the Fimi Mini 3, The Potensic Atom and DJI Mini 4K can fly 500m with good signal strength.
How much further?
Thanks for the test.
Thanks 😄
I'm "guessing" that the mini 4k could do 3km
Potensic 2km
Fimi 2km
And possibly all of a lot further than that.
@@RobinDrones Nope, fimi mini 3 got much better range than the potensic according to my test.
Fimi mini 3 for 233$ with 2 batteries.. is it better choice or there is better DJI choice?
Even if little more expensive
You could go with the dji mini 3 with a bigger sensor, but that's $420,
Or Dji mini 4k for $300
Or Dji mini 4 pro $760
All of these have only 1 battery.
The mini 4 pro has all of the features you need, mini 4k and mini 3 don't have waypoints, Tracking ect..
I believe that the Fimi mini 3 is the best bang for your buck right now.
Sure, Dji's are better, but the cost is very high.
@@RobinDrones thanks
Just bought the Fimi in a Black Friday pre-sale. Their website says it can be auto switching OR manual switched on frequency.
Fun times!
I love flying my drones 😃
I fly DJI drones from Phantom 2,3 to Mavic Pro to Zoom and I praise these products. But out of these tested I elevate the Potensic which is a very capable drone for small and friendly money in a combo version. The range can go up to 5km and the battery holds very well the promised minutes the drone is in the air from the manufacturer. Worth a Potensic for consideration. Yes I still prefer the Mini 4 over it despite these tests, but the Potensic interests me too.
One good thing with the Potensic is that it fully charges all the batteries at the same time very quickly. 👍
But yeh mini 4 is very very hard to beat!
DJI has Superior radio technology at this point...
I just took my potenaic atom 2 miles off the coast of San Diego over the ocean without any breakup.
My biggest gripe with it (atom) the latency and the low light.
I fly two drones every day. My atom and my DJI FPV.
i think the FIMI is best choice for this kind of small drones...also it has SONY imx sensor
Yes, it has great image quality for it's low price 👌
The 3 Drones You Have Could You Please Tell Me ( Or Us) Which Of These Drones Is The Quietest Of Them( Less Noisy) Or Are They All Very Close. I Leave You Kindly To Do A Noise Test. Thank You For Keeping Us Up To Date On Sub 250 Gram Drones Which Must Be Reliable And Safe To Fly Like These 3 Do. Using Latest Technology In 2024 / 2025 And Beyond. PS. Greenfields All Around You.
They all seem to sound the same as the prop design, and the weight of the drones are very similar. I don't notice one louder than the other.
Great testing mate nicely done
Thanks Johnny👍
Bagus bangett terimah kasih
Thanks 😀
Good test for people who fly drones while standing on a 20 foot ladder.
Why not do this standing on the ground?
Because I needed a clear line of site. And I was actually trying to simulate wifi interference by flying from inside and over houses 👍
I always find the tallest point to fly from... Sometimes I stand on my truck
I got 2 UNITS of DJI MINI 4K. They have different signal. One of them went to 4.3km without freezing the image. The other unit went to 1.4km without freezing the image.
I really don't know what is happening, 'cause i did the SAME way flying they SAME high
That's very strange 🤔
Only thing I can think of is if one of them isn't set on duel band in the app?
Or maybe one is faulty possible loose connection in one of the drones antenna in the legs?
The Fimi looked the best
I feel like there's really only like 3 drones. There's DJI, and then there's all the other drone brands, which seem like they're all just rebrands or slight design tweaks, with some cost cuts or an extra feature here and there, from only like 2 different OEMs. The budget, like $150 to $400, I mean.
Yep, true, though I don't think potensic and Fimi are connected though.
It's like you either get the dji mini 4 or save some cash and get one of these with all of the extra features.
Never test 2.4 GHz drones with a 2.4 GHz microphone. It's really bad for a range test. lot of interference.
Yes, I've seen others mention this, but honestly, I've never had an issue.
It's DJI mini 2 number 1
Potensic is true to it's signal specs ..second ..
This is the O3+ from dji mavic 3:
2.4 GHz:
Thank you 😊
A little about frequency and the range of the signal.
DJI Mini 2 flies 1.1km
PS. Your location appears to be a low congested wifi area so signal should be good for every drone you fly there.
Because that means they will be flying outside of visual line of sight, and uploading a video of that is self incriminating
Yep, the UK youtube drone police will be all over that!
Yeh, but that would be beyond VLOS.
I would think my are would be high interference as the house are bunched up like most areas here in the 🇬🇧
@@RobinDrones I understand. You are a legit channel so need to fly legal. I'll need find some Asian or Russian channel to get better range tests.
@@RobinDrones in Turkey Fimi Mini 3 with two batteries is 30% expensive than DJI Mini 2 SE Fly More Combo. Fimi doesn't even have an official service in Turkey. On the paper they have warranty but the responsible company for the Fimi said they are not providing service for Fimi. With DJI you have full warranty for DJI drones imported by the authorized DJI importer in Turkey, they provide good technical service and repair.
@@walker-snow
How much is the Fimi mini 3 in your country ?
And how much is the DJI mini 2 se ?
If you get Fimi mini 3 for 196$ with 2 batteries .. is it better choice thsn other drones DJI or others ?
@@warrobots1warrobots135 DJI Mini 2 SE Combo is 18K and Fimi Mini 3 with 2 bat. is 22K. DJI is always better choice if it's going to be your only drone. You'll never gonna be able to shoot cinematic videos with a Fimi. It's flight controller has issues with yaw moment, issues in rotating the drone around smoothly.
@@walker-snow but the Fimi mini 3 that i found is 6,640 in Turkey currency with 2 batteries
Mini 4 k is the best
Yeh, it's hard to beat the quality.
But there's not many features on the mini 4k. That's is its weakness
But its got dji build quality and reliability 👌@RobinDrones
Well, I received my fimi mini 3 today and it it's night mode and transmission range are both garbage as of right now ! I am used to go 10km total with my potensic and even my mavic mini could do much better than the fimi mini 3. This thing started do lose video transmission as soon as I reached 400 meters, if I turned the drone it would lose signal and return to home. Tried both 5.8 and 2.4GHz and it sucks. Sorry, but right now this drone sucks for night and for any serious range in any small city !!! 9.7km with potensic atom th-cam.com/video/Aa1SOM0e2g4/w-d-xo.html The FCC report shows that the fimi mini 3 got that crap bullet style 5.8GHz antenna of the fimi mini v2 plus a a single 2.4GHz antenna and so the problems and ridiculous latency of the mini v2 will apply here with the fimi mini 3 too. There is no dual band antennas or auto switching between frequency/channels like on the DJI mini 4k or anything else DJI got in the market. The potensic Atom got DUAL 2.4GHz antennas instead of a single 2.4GHz antenna. Every idiot knows that for range you use 2.4GHz, not 5.8GHz.
The potensic does not have enough battery to fly 10 km et get back home.
@@mast3rbugI went with it 9.7km totak and still had 30% battery left. With lvl 5, 6 and 7 gusts it went 17 minutes. It got the signal and the battery life to achieve that while filming in 4k for the most part. th-cam.com/video/Aa1SOM0e2g4/w-d-xo.html . Figures I am not alone, there are plenty of examples of 12km total !
at 385m/1200ft+ hi? that prolly helps - and oh, you went 9.7km total..4k out oh...
@@carlthomas5481 129 meters high. Not a fanboy, i just have the 3 main drones at that price tag and the FIMI mini 3 is by far the worst of the tree at everything. Its 4k video is blurry, night mode is garbage, there is a gigantic delay in commands once you go 300 meters and the range is just pathetic as the signal is really weak right now. I had hopes I could keep the FIMI but now I just want to get rid of it and never look back.
Come on, don't be so rude, I got the fimi mini 3 and potensic atom also, I did a side-by-side test with them, fimi mini 3 is much better in range.
Public safety? Read the CAA rules.
I have read the entire cap 722 document, and I have passed the A2CofC. 👍
Also, have my operator id on all my drones and have a flyer id.
Those 3 drones that I were flying were 250g.
So we can fly anywhere apart from restricted zones and overflight of crowds.
Who did I put "at risk" ?
What's the point..? But you scored a msg.. Pointless exercise..
I would have loved to fly further, but that's illegal in my country 🇬🇧. The TH-cam police would tell the police! 🚔 🙄
Any one of these drones signals is good for vlos flying. That's what I was trying to show..
@@RobinDrones yes we know..
Said it before feel sorry for yu guys in UK..
Come to aus were there only a handful of Karen's...
That's all otherwise be sensible and fly as far as you can...
You won't have the same Paranoia here...
Oh don't bring it with you please..!!
I was so looking forward to you "chucking them out the window" 🤣 Did your wife realize you have turned your bedroom into your new studio?? 😉
Man that countryside you live by is nothing short of gorgeous. You can't beat British countryside full stop.
Great test and if nothing it does confirm that either one of these drones regardless of their radio type are more than acceptable for LOS up to 500M. Would love to see a "how far can they actually fly" demo ..... 🥸
Ha ha, she was actually out when I filmed that video.
Yes, the countryside I take for granted as it's always been there and I've always lived in England.
I would think the same about Canada that looks amazing in the wilderness 😀
I can't really do a range test, a small minority here in the UK are drone police on TH-cam. They would report me to the Caa or police they get you by your car number plate. It happened to "windswept robert" have you heard of him?
