I already have a DJI Mini 3 pro, but your video tweaked my curiosity in the latest pricing of the basic 3 version as a cheaper backup drone and was shocked to see Costco in the US selling the Mini 3 for $299 ($100 off 'til mid July). As a fellow SW Ontarian, even with conversion it works out to $450CDN including NY state tax and free shipping (I have it shipped to Niagara Falls NY and pick it up there). The Costco bundle includes DJI ND filters and 64GB SD which is another $100 value. I really don't need another drone, but I had to buy (so thanks to the suggestive videoI I'm a few loonies shorter :)
Currently the DJI Mini 3 basic or standard model just about USD 330. While Fimi Mini 3 combo model (coming with spare batt and bag) price around USD 400. But after seeing your video I decided to choose DJI Mini 3 basic over Fimi Mini 3 model. Thank you for your indepth review, you deserve for a new subcriber from Indonesia...
I thought they'd done something to improve the video transmission signal strength, you got the red warning signal after 500 meters, oh well... will my V1 batteries work in this V3? Much thanks as always...
Enjoyed the video. Good comparisons. FWIW - I had a DJI Mini 3 Pro with the DJI RC and was planning to put external antennas on the DJI RC before I sold it. There are a few YT on videos on adding the external antennas. Seems pretty easy to do, that is if you wanted more range. AND - I too wonder if Fimi does any testing at all before releasing a new drone.
Do not bother doing the mod on the DJI RC. I spoke with DJI directly on this subject in detail. The type of antenna mods on the iNet are directional and severely decreases the span range of the signal. The DJI RC2 has a completely different antenna system and putting them on the DJI RC will do little.
Great review GM, you really covered a lot of ground in this review. It seems to be a just a minor upgrade over the previous version. Seems like some solid improvement over the V2, but not enough to make me buy one yet. If it is giving a warning of low altitude, maybe they have some actual obstacle avoidance coming? Being able to fly toward something in the distance and have it go up a hill would be nice. I wish they would add an easier way to change the EV value on the fly in the software. That slider really doesnt work well in flight. Ive been sticking with 2.7k or even 1080p for video. My computer wont play 4k video from the drone, neither will my TV over the network anyway. 2.7k video looks fine to me.

Hello! Could you try/share carry weight? I know it does not officially have payload capacity but the DJI drones of this size can lift up to 200g or more. Trying to find someone with this drone to try it out. I just need it to maybe fly 10-15 min max with 200g strapped to it. Thanks!
I really could not say. The most I lift is landing gear. I would not suspect a craft this size would lift that much weight. Give it a go and see what happens. If I want to lift anything I'd use the X8SE... and that is only rated for about 300g
Long but informative. Lovely place and whether. Nice dogs. Thanks for your time my friend. Fimi 3: not much improvement. Can't use their video for pro works, Only advantage - No DJI Fence.
That is the 64k$ question... So far Fimi has not updated the camera firmware on the FM3.. so it is basically stock. I tested the Factory firmware & the 1st update which is now loaded before shipping. I saw no difference. As for a comparison between V2 and the FM3... tough call just yet. I would say the FM3 has an edge in certain lighting conditions (Auto mode). I has a slight edge in dynamic range... But.. natively, the V2 has a better colour profile. I have more testing to do.. but in bright sunlight, no clouds etc... both versions suffer from over saturation & contrast. If you watch the videos I post and look for the areas that are not lit up by sunlight, you see a much better colour profile. I had said that with the V2, it was better on cloudy days and with the FM3 it seems even more evident. Is the FM3 a worthy upgrade... in the fact that they fixed the "Drunken Sailor" and the darkened images on first take & Panorama shooting... then yes, I think so. I have yet to test the Waypoints and the red ring.. but that video lag in the photo MP change is a killer. I have to keep in mind the true competition... DJI Mini 4k, DJI Mini 3, Potensic Atom (Autel & Hubsan are too expensive).
It's just the beginning.. the Fimi Mini 3 has some aspects that are better than the V2. The V2 has some elements that are better than the 3. It's tough to say if the 3 will be further refined in upcoming updates.
Great thorough review as are all of yours are re: the Fimi products. Having my Fimi Mini 3 for about a week now I agree that the photos and videos are over saturated and may need tweaking depending on your preference. The photos, & videos are terrific. The RTH is right on the mark always landing in the middle of the helio pad. And It works well in a stiff wind. The range was less than I expected compared to how good it was on the X8SE 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2022 V2. At the entry price of $299 for two batteries it was an enticing deal. But now at $350 for one battery compared to the DJI Mini 3 for $335 (DJI refurbished price) or $399 (Costco new price) it's challenging to recommend the Fimi Mini 3 over the DJI. Having great success with the FIMI DRONES I simply had to try it. For $300 its was a fair deal but not at the current $350 price. I was a little disappointed that it didn't work with my older Android phones that are dedicated fo drone flying only (not personal use). They work with all of my other DJI and FIMI drones. With the Fimi Mine 3 I kept getting an intermittent green screen that blocked my view while flying. I resolved this by using my Apple iPhone 11 that is not a dedicated drone flying phone. Fimi Support, quick to respond, stated it was not compatible with the older Android phones.
Thank you. I suspect the Fimi Mini 3 will go the way of thier Mini V2.. start at $299.. bump up for a while .. then back to $299 and then I can see it at $249 like the V2 was (I got mine for $219 with coupon).. so its just a game right now. DJI pulls the same stunt.. I bought their Mini 3 with the DJI RC and a month later they dropped the price and now look at it... about 1/2 the price.. Just a game.
@@GorillamansGarage Despite my comments I do have respect for the Xiaomi Fimi products. I think there is a strong niche for them. The X8SE 2022 with the TX10 remote is my GO TO DRONE over my DJI Mavic 2 Pr Zoom, DJI Min 3 and DJI Mini 4. They all have their place but the FIMI 2022 just has an incredible range with no disconnects using the TX10 remote. I leave the FIMI Mini 3 in my auto for spare of the moment flights where there may be some flight risks and a loss would be a minimal investment anyway.
@@vagnerolicastro707 Not sure which are compatible but do know that the 3 older android phones that I use just for drone flying with android versions 6 and 7 did not work for me. Strange as they all work with my DJi and other Fimi drones. I was getting a green screen intermittenly blocking my screen view. Perhaps, newer android version phones will work very well as did my Apple iPhone 11.
Although came here quite accidentally, really enjoyed the video. Thank you for the work you did!!! Thinking of buying first drone, kinda can get the DJI Mini 4 Pro, but wondering if that's really better comparing to Mini 3, if for hobby usage
Thanks for dropping by. For a fun hobby.. You really can not go wrong with the DJI Mini 3 . If you are in the USA then the Mini 4k would be cheaper. The Fimi is ok but not for the complete novice who just wants the thing to work out of the box.
Good day, I would like to know if you encounter battery problems during mid-flight? I saw some videos on YT where the fimi crashed during mid-flight due to bad battery. I am looking forward to buy Fimi Mini 3, but I am hesitant due to the battery issue during flight.
@@GorillamansGarage thanks for the repx, just another question, Currently, the fimi mini 3 (dual battery) is for sale here $460, While the potensic atom (combo) is only at $370 Is the extra $90 worth it? That's the cheapest price I found online, If I buy from AliExpress, the shipping cost around $80
hi Thank you for your review I want to ask if they are able to broadcast live streaming on Facebook or TH-cam and if the mini 3 can be controlled without a controller just with the phone like the mini 2
Fimi removed the remote wifi system so you cn not control the craft by your phone alone anymore 😓. I see there is a "Live" option at the very end of all the settings.. but I have not explored that. Last I knew, was that Fimi had no YT authorization licence. I can only suggest, give it a go.
@@SigmaMotorsiklo : I buy from the Fimi Store or their store on Aliexpress. It is not yet on Amazon.. But "The Bigly Brothers" might be supplying it soon?? I think they have the V2. Check them out.
I suspect , Fimi lacks real world testing. They stopped outsourcing Alpha Testers a few years ago and even then never took to heart anything they were told that went against their entrenched beliefs. They all have issues... its just how much frustration are you willing to put up with to get the results you are looking for!!
@@GorillamansGarage Thank you for checking. In my drone this button itself is missing. When i contacted the support team, they said the fimi mini 3 doesn't support the wifi mode feature. Even if there was a button in an earlier batch, you can't enable the wifi mode. I am not sure if this is correct information or not from them. Can you please try to enable the wifi mode on your fimi mini 3 and see if you are able to connect your phone to the drone using the wifi mode?
You are correct.. I have the switch and it clicks over.. but the craft does not emit any WiFi signal recognized. And it is not in the Manual. The manual imagery does not even show the switch in any diagram. WOW.. I can't believe I missed that one. Thanks again.
No. It uses a different App. I will try to load the App on to the TX10.. but I suspect it will not run as the F-Mini3 runs on a different protocol than the TX10
It does have some issues.. but on the basics.. it's pretty good for the money. Fimi have also been one of the few that have not spiked their prices as well. 👍👍
Hello! I have the very First model of FIMI X8 Mini and I need to get some new Pro Batteries. Go to the main page when the App opens and you see the Orange drone (Mini3). In the upper right corner are 3 bar lines (menu symbol). Click on that and check for updates. If none there.. Go to play store and see what version is there. 1.1.36 is the latest.

@@GorillamansGarage 1080 on my DJI Mini se is better quality video than 4k on my Fimi x8 Mini 2 and potensic atom both shooting in 4k Specs mean nothing other than marketing, to the people who think bigger is better
@@Shooting-Up That's because the DJI has a larger sensor than both of those so you're capturing more detail...in this case bigger can absolutely mean better. Also has to do with how it's tuned anyway. The Fimi 3 sensor is now a touch larger than the mini 2/SE. it'll be cool to see how that stacks up
Depends on budget.. but a DJI product will give you more confidence. I know, it's like buying a phone plan... so many options and they all sound the same.. but it's true.. you have to know what you want out of a product.
I'm not sure about the DJI mini 3, mine does horrible over sharpening that spoils every video, apropos there is a thread in the DJI forum complaining this issue, I also own a DJI mini 3 pro and I can adjust sharpness (-2) to get rid of these artifacts ... but none for the DJI mini 3, my opinion the DJI mini 3 is a waste of money
True.. My V2 is better in some scenarios as well. I always have to remember.. that some online videos are not straight out of the card... many have some slight post editing enhancements and generally those promoting the crafts can pick and choose which videos to post. Weather conditions also play a huge role. I suspect that in overcast conditions, the Fimi Mini 3 will do better. I know my V2 does.
I would never fly at night but think the f1.6 aperture should be much better in lower light scenarios. I like the Fimi Mini 3.. it's a fun little drone for the money. I like the DJI Mini 3 better, but it to has its issues.

@@GorillamansGarage thank you for your Review!
Hi GM, Thank you for your review of the Fimi Mini 3. Your review will help potential buyers make an informed decision.
It's just the beginning.. the Fimi Mini 3 has some aspects that are better than the V2. The V2 has some elements that are better than the 3. It's tough to say if the 3 will be further refined in upcoming updates.
Apologies if this question is asked a lot but the algorithm popped you onto my main feed 😊
What tablet is it that you use?
I use 2 tablets for drones. Very inexpensive ones. The Alldocube iPlay50 Mini Pro & the Teclast T40HD. Not the brightest but very functional.
@@GorillamansGarage thanks for the reply!
@@pspr33 sorry I'm late.. Alldocube iPlay50 pro.
@@phoebesnow6986 : Totally agree 👍🥳
Esse FIMI MINI 3 é compatível com telefone apartir de qual sistema operacional Android?
@@vagnerolicastro707 Not sure which are compatible but do know that the 3 older android phones that I use just for drone flying with android versions 6 and 7 did not work for me. Strange as they all work with my DJi and other Fimi drones. I was getting a green screen intermittenly blocking my screen view. Perhaps, newer android version phones will work very well as did my Apple iPhone 11.
Where can I find that tablet holder, please?
AliExpress.. Amazon...?
nice !
Do you need internet from cellphone 4g or a some wifi? Or do you fly without internet?
You need internet only to update firmware. It is advised to turn off WiFi while flying so as not to have interference.
@ gorillaman Why aren't you using your signal booster?
I might use them in another video and compare that to the one on the V2.
Great vids. I bought a set of both boost extenders.
I think Fimi m. X8 V2 is the all-around best.
Again, great vids.
Good day, I would like to know if you encounter battery problems during mid-flight? I saw some videos on YT where the fimi crashed during mid-flight due to bad battery.
I am looking forward to buy Fimi Mini 3, but I am hesitant due to the battery issue during flight.
Battery issues are generally due to improper charging routines. So far mine are good. I have had to reset them a few times but thats about it.
@@GorillamansGarage thanks for the repx, just another question,
Currently, the fimi mini 3 (dual battery) is for sale here $460,
While the potensic atom (combo) is only at $370
Is the extra $90 worth it?
That's the cheapest price I found online,
If I buy from AliExpress, the shipping cost around $80
Both same battery? Interchange?
Yes
hi
Thank you for your review
I want to ask if they are able to broadcast live streaming on Facebook or TH-cam and if the mini 3 can be controlled without a controller just with the phone like the mini 2
Fimi removed the remote wifi system so you cn not control the craft by your phone alone anymore 😓. I see there is a "Live" option at the very end of all the settings.. but I have not explored that. Last I knew, was that Fimi had no YT authorization licence. I can only suggest, give it a go.
Nice info. I am planning to buy but cant find where its not avail in amazon. Can you send me a link thanks
Not available on Amazon yet.
Where can i buy 1 here in canada
@@SigmaMotorsiklo : I buy from the Fimi Store or their store on Aliexpress. It is not yet on Amazon.. But "The Bigly Brothers" might be supplying it soon?? I think they have the V2. Check them out.
Thanks sir
@@SigmaMotorsiklo sorry I'm late. I buy Mostly on AliExpress.
Ok. Nice informative video as allways. Seems that this new Fimi 3 have some issues.
I suspect , Fimi lacks real world testing. They stopped outsourcing Alpha Testers a few years ago and even then never took to heart anything they were told that went against their entrenched beliefs. They all have issues... its just how much frustration are you willing to put up with to get the results you are looking for!!
Nice video. How to turn ON wifi mode for fimi mini 3 drone. I am unable to find any button to turn on the WiFi mode at the drone's back side.
Let me check. Yes.. it's there.. a little white slider to the left of the micro usb port under the sd card slot.
@@naveenpunj7918 : WOW.. that is News!!! I will look at it now.
You are correct.. I have the switch and it clicks over.. but the craft does not emit any WiFi signal recognized. And it is not in the Manual. The manual imagery does not even show the switch in any diagram. WOW.. I can't believe I missed that one. Thanks again.
@@naveenpunj7918 : So how much does your craft weigh without a battery , gimbal cover or sd card??
Is the TX10 controller compatible with this new Fimi Mini 3?
No. It uses a different App. I will try to load the App on to the TX10.. but I suspect it will not run as the F-Mini3 runs on a different protocol than the TX10
MAN, YOU KILLED AN INCECT ON CAMERA! I bet you gone get problems with the green guys🤣
Did you see all the Tree Logs in the background? 🤣
Bacana amigo ,ótimo drone.tenho um fimi mini V2 e gosto muito dele
It does have some issues.. but on the basics.. it's pretty good for the money. Fimi have also been one of the few that have not spiked their prices as well. 👍👍
Hello! I have the very First model of FIMI X8 Mini and I need to get some new Pro Batteries.
On stores Online I can only find the Orange Pro Battery, which is supposedly made for FIMI X8 Mini V2 and FIMI Mini 3.
Is that the very same battery with a different color? Would it be totally compatible with my original FIMI X8 Mini ?
Thanks!!!!! 😃
They are the same.
@@GorillamansGarage Just today I flew with my Mini V1 and I took both pictures (actually I did 5 photogrammetric missions) and 1 Video and everything seems correct with all timestamps.
When I swapped batteries I struggled a bit taking out one of the Pro Batteries. When I have finally succeded I noticed the Battery was swollen.
I have at least 2 Pro Batteries that are swollen. Time to dispose of them and Buy new ones.
Muito bom amigo , sou do Brasil, amo seus vídeos
Where did you buy the fimi mini 3 from? Ali express?
Direct from Fimi on release date.
I have all different software versions on my X8 mini 2, is it possible that it's because I am in the Uk?
Go to the main page when the App opens and you see the Orange drone (Mini3). In the upper right corner are 3 bar lines (menu symbol). Click on that and check for updates. If none there.. Go to play store and see what version is there. 1.1.36 is the latest.
@@GorillamansGarage I’m on the latest 1.1.4 but from iOS. I believe you too haven’t received any drone (mini v2) updates in the last months. By the way the DJI is staggering!
Great video
I’m going to buy one to try it out but I expect it’s just big specs for marketing purposes.
The end result video will probably be sub par just like every other Fimi
Im hopefully wrong though
I know it's a long video.. but there are many video sections. Does it shoot 4k@60?.. Yes... But!! ... Does it shoot 48MP photos?.. Yes.. But!! Does the craft have the specs it says it does?.. Yes.. But!!.. Seems the DJI Mini3 and using the Rainbow App accomplish far more than whatever Fimi is offering here.
@@GorillamansGarage 1080 on my DJI Mini se is better quality video than 4k on my Fimi x8 Mini 2 and potensic atom both shooting in 4k
Specs mean nothing other than marketing, to the people who think bigger is better
@@Shooting-Up That's because the DJI has a larger sensor than both of those so you're capturing more detail...in this case bigger can absolutely mean better. Also has to do with how it's tuned anyway. The Fimi 3 sensor is now a touch larger than the mini 2/SE. it'll be cool to see how that stacks up
@@jg14gerhard_bar also who makes the sensor? Is it a quality Sony made sensor or just some cheap junk they put in to make the specs look better
You make great vids ❤
Thanks for watching.
Which drone would u recommend for a beginner? Xiaomi Fimi 3, dji mini 2 SE or dji mini 2 in terms of flight and photos?
Depends on budget.. but a DJI product will give you more confidence. I know, it's like buying a phone plan... so many options and they all sound the same.. but it's true.. you have to know what you want out of a product.
I'm not sure about the DJI mini 3, mine does horrible over sharpening that spoils every video, apropos there is a thread in the DJI forum complaining this issue, I also own a DJI mini 3 pro and I can adjust sharpness (-2) to get rid of these artifacts ... but none for the DJI mini 3, my opinion the DJI mini 3 is a waste of money
That is an interesting viewpoint.. Definitely worth looking at.
okay
That drone is just a copy of X8 SE V2 (2022) in a smaller format. Period.
The X8 SE 2022 V2 sensor was not stacked. But yes.. All Fimi drones run on the same basic platform.
Hum! not sure , color!!! my fimi mini v2 better color, i see other video of this mini 3 and not the same saturation!!! (it's fimi)
Glad i didn't buy this crap, its no better than the v2 and its night mode is full of noise.
I would never fly at night but think the f1.6 aperture should be much better in lower light scenarios. I like the Fimi Mini 3.. it's a fun little drone for the money. I like the DJI Mini 3 better, but it to has its issues.
