This is one that grew on me a lot. Now it is high on my all time list. With two players who really know the game you can play in an hour. So many paths to victory. And the theme is great. Thanks for watching Syzlak!
I'm new to your channel, and I love your approach and laid back personality/style. Subscribed immediately! You've helped me get Great Western Trail and Lost Ruins of Arnak off of my shelf of shame, so thank you so much for that!
Thank you so much dearearthling! Your comment has made me so happy. I really want my videos to help people get great games to the table and have fun! Thank you for your kind words and for your support. I hope you continue to enjoy the channel.
Dang! I wondered why people said they loved the deck building in this game. That’s because I was playing solo incorrectly. I was only refilling my hand after delivering to KC. It’s a much tighter game when played incorrectly :) You clearly pointing out multiple times that you refill your hand at the end of every turn took this game from being stressful to very fun. 😅
Thank you so much for the sub! I try to put out a playthrough per week starting on Monday (though I'll be late this next week due to the holidays in USA). Next year I should be able to put out more content. I really appreciate the support.
Awesome. It is nice to hear you don't regret your purchase. I always get nervous when I hear I've influenced anyone to do anything involving money. But you got a top 10 game of all time there, IMHO, so you've done well. Thanks for checking out the channel!
Interesting. I've only played Maracaibo at 2 players. I'm curious to try to the solo. The pace of the solo game in Great Western Trail felt very similar to a multiplayer game to me. It works well, but 2-3 players is still my favorite for this one. Thanks for watching!
Yep, those are the Iron Clays from Roxley Games that were part of the Brass reprint. I use them in almost every game I play! Thanks for watching phybio!
Thanks so much! I got those poker chips on Kickstarter but I think you can get them on Roxley Games website or possibility elsewhere. Not sure. They are called Iron Clays. Thanks again for watching!
Hmm. Good question. Once you know the game well I'd estimate an hour (not including setup). First few plays might be double that as you learn the AI cards. It is a heavier game with a bit of a learning curve. I tend to play solo games pretty slowly because I don't have to worry about boring other players. 😃 Thanks PrzemO.
I've been meaning to play the new spin offs, but they haven't hit the table yet. I recommend Jon Gets Games -- he has a podcast episode where he and his friends discuss this very question in length and give a lot of good info. Definitely check that out! Thanks!
You really have the best solo playthroughs. I just ordered this game as I am super into the western theme now. (Something I never thought I would say just a few months ago but somehow lately I’m into cowboys and Indians.) Quick question, what is the background music you’re using there? I might want to play that once I get my copy of the game and start my solo play!
I love this game and the solo is very well done - pretty simple flip a card for the AI and easy actions. I would get it for solo, but it is a big game with a big setup. 2p is my favorite but solo is fun. I think if the playthrough looked fun you would enjoy it. Thanks Giacomo!
I would advise against it. The bot is very unfair, even on Easy mode. It makes no sense for it to always complete each objective card, even if it hasn't fulfilled any of the conditions, and it always puts a disc on the next highest city. On top of that, putting each of your discs on Kansas City costs you 6 victory points at the end of the game. Insane! This is why the solo mode is a complete bust. I've played many a game where the bot has advantages over the human player, but in GWT, the bot is literally cheating by tremendous proportions.
Man I love this theme. This game has been on my list forever, but I'm glad I held out for the second edition.

Glad the video was able to help. This is one of my favorite games of all time, when played correctly. :) Thanks for watching!
Really nice video. Smooth and easy to follow.
Hey, thanks for the compliment Christopher. I really appreciate hearing that. Thanks for watching!
Very nice presentation. Please do more. Subscribed

Great playthrough, it made me purchase the game, and I don't regret it :)

Just got my 2nd edition today. Thanks for the playthrough. Can't wait to try it out.
Once it clicks it is a lovely game. Let us know what you think after playing. Thanks for watching!
Great playthrough. Thank you! GWT is one of my all-time favorite games, but I haven't yet pulled the trigger to get the 2nd edition.
Yeah, a top 10 of mine as well. I don't think you need the second edition unless you really want to solo. I can't wait for the sequels!
Thank you for this playthrough.
Thank you so much for watching! Part Two will be posted tomorrow and Part Three on Wednesday.
Glad I stumbled on this channel. Subscribed!
Thanks so much Yashar. I really appreciate the support. I have big plans for the channel so spread the word! 😄
It appears this AI goes through the board a lot slower than in Maracaibo. I like that.

Those poker chips looks liemthey are from Brass Birmingham 😆, another game I love

Great playthrough and easy to understand. The poker chips look clean and delicate, can you share the purchase link?

Hi, great video. How much time do I need to play in solo mode, approx?

Should be possible play vs more Automas (printing additional Automa decks)? Thanks
Yes, that would be possible, but I would never do that. GWT is great at 2 player! Thanks for watching Giacomo!
Maybe you've done a video explaining the differences already, but which Great Western Trail would you recommend? This one? New Zealand? Or Argentina?
I've been meaning to play the new spin offs, but they haven't hit the table yet. I recommend Jon Gets Games -- he has a podcast episode where he and his friends discuss this very question in length and give a lot of good info. Definitely check that out! Thanks!
@@TotallyTabled Thank you. I will definitely look for that video.

Sam Always use side B about Building but the player can use a mix of "A" and "B", isnt It? Sorry, i played yesterday my First game in solo.
That is correct 😊
What's yuor opinio about solo mode? Can you suggest to buy it if i always play solo? Thanks
