    I like your addition of background music and your close-ups of the building tiles. Good playthrough.

    Love your play through. I would like to mention that when you take an auxiliary action it doesn’t allow you to take a double auxiliary action, only when the double ‘gear’ symbol is depicted.

    This video cleared up some questions I had regarding the rules. Loved the background music and the enlarged tokens when they where relevant.

      I'm so glad the video was helpful! I try to enlarge tokens and cards when I can, but it is very time consuming. Thanks so much for checking out the videos!

    Bummer... Sam by 4! The great thing about that, though, is it shows the Automa is well designed. I must also agree with you on the poker chips. Need to get a nice set of clay chips.

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I played really bad, but Sam can be adjusted easier to more difficult in multiple ways so I think it works well for all players.

    I can't wait to have this game (pre-ordered, arriving next week only). Very good video. Only 1 thing I noticed at the end; Sam could overbuild as well, there is an order for him to follow when taking the build action.
    I like how you edit and explain everything. Very useful for us. Thanks.

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Marta. The overbuilding rules for Sam are slightly quirky and I'm sure I screwed up something. I hope you enjoy the game once it arrives! Have a great day!

    Great playthrough videos. One thing though: once you build that blue building on the upper branch of the southern (lower) road, the lower branch (through the 2 flood hazards) became the shorter of the two routes. So Sam should have gone the lower route the last two times he was down there. It may not have made any difference in the end, but I believe that is the correct way he's supposed to choose his routes. Also you may have forgotten to pay $2 for the black hand white building in the lower left side on your final pass.

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, you are absolutely right. I forget about those hazard paths all the time, I'm so focused on the main path. Thanks for pointing that out for everyone. And thanks for watching!

      I'm so happy you enjoyed it and found it helpful. With the solo, it is a complex game, but it is definitely one of my favorites, especially with 2 players. I'm hopefully going to a playthrough of the sequel -- GWT: Argentina -- soon. Thanks so much for supporting the channel!

      @@TotallyTabled my first playthrough was last night and I think I did OK because of your excellent videos series... I will be playing part 2 tonight on my channel to finish the game... I am so, so super surprised about how much strategy there is to this game with such simple mechanics... it is deep and engrossing yet super simple and easy... thanks

      I killed Sam in my practice game (posted on IG) but, when I start filming, any strategy goes straight out of my brain. Luckily the game comes with several ways of adjusting the difficulty of Sam for all experience levels. Overall a good solo mode for a top 10 euro game, in my opinion. I'm very interested to see what the sequels will bring. Thanks for watching and commenting Adam!

    Nice video 👍
    Although, in Sams final action, shouldn't he have upgraded a building using the most builders possible?? Think the explanation to Sams build a building action states that in point 3...😳

    Great playthrough, like the game. It flows fast and easy. I would have preferred if you pit more emphasis on how the iconographic works for bot in part 1 and would be great if you mention possible difficulty levels. I don't think it has a lot of replayability. Thank you very much for the video. I am engaged to give it a shot

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually think Great Western Trail has a lot of replayability because you can persue so many different things. Go hard on buildings, or move your train really far, or get a bunch of cows, or thin your herd, or complete a bunch of contracts. So many ways to get points. And very quick once you get a handle on it, especially at two players. This is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. Thanks!

    Thanks for the playthru series. Just got this and am gonna play this weekend. Also, I love the poker chip idea....but more specifically, your chips are really nice. Do you mind sharing where you got those from or manufacturer? I dig 'em.

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those poker chips are Iron Clays from Roxley Games. I believe I got them during the Brass Birmingham kickstarter, but they are probably available elsewhere. I find them a nice compromise between super high quality expensive chips and the cheap stuff. Thanks for watching!

    I just played my first solo and was so excited about your score. I lost 109 - 128. Sam (easy, no simmenthal) rushed the train unstoppable to the final station. I have no glue right now how to beat him 😂 BTW: Great Videos

    • @TotallyTabled

      Thanks Emma. A new version of GWT is coming out soon, I believe it is GWT: Argentina. Looks similar but with a few interesting twists. And don't worry about the name. It is a nickname anyway, and the i ending is a long story that involves college friends and booze, so I'd call it optional at best. 😂 Thanks for supporting the channel Emma!

  • @ericmetzler1821

    I just did my first full solo play! I beat Sam 111-90. The key for me was getting station master tiles without those Sam would have won. Sam beat me on objectives and cities delivered by a lot. And I beat him on hazards and destroyed him on station master tiles. All other categories were pretty even.

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice win, Eric! Sounds like you found a good strategy there. You are inspiring me to get this back on the table. Love this game so much. Have a great day!

  • @chrisjohnphillips6352

    In the solo rules it says, "when Sam's engine moves forward, it jumps past your engine normally". What does this mean? Does this mean that if Sam's engine is 4 spaces behind yours, for example, that 1 movement forward would mean that he moves 1 movement ahead of your engine?

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it just means it won't land in your space, nor count your space, but will instead leap over you just as you would do in a multiplayer game. The trains always play leap frog with each other. Thanks for watching Chris!

    Great video! Does playing solo feel significantly inferior to playing with real people?

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is inferior but not significantly. With real players the game just FLOWS so well, especially with experienced players. At two it sings. With the AI, that flow is ruined a bit, despite how simple the system is. They did as well as they could and the game is so good I'd still play it solo. But 2 player is my favorite. Thanks for watching JD!
