    • @ronfromportland

      Thanks for the question! I’ll need to calculate everything and then I’ll make a video on it. I don’t know exactly how much a shop charges but I’ll definitely get some rates and do an estimate. I do know that you’ll be spending a lot more on labor vs parts.

    Good on you doing most your install work. Egr and full tgv deletes plus walnut blasting my valves had me frustrated. Let pros finish it up with some extras. Hate paying and not doing it myself, but 364/390 afterwards is fun to drive. The charge pipe does help a fair amount, btw. Did you add a better boost control solenoid? Have fun and stay safe out there.

    • @ronfromportland
      @ronfromportland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, definitely something I’m still proud of! Walnut blasting is something I‘d probably pay the pros to do. Those are great numbers. Are you on flex? Regarding the EBCS, I have the Grimmspeed one.

      @aaronanderson5573 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ronfromportland Sure thing, man. Gotta encourage our automotive enthusiasts.👍 Mainly GS parts as well… and yes on ethanol. Tuner capped power at e50. The blasting is easier than the rest you’ve done, just a bit of time. I couldn’t get the valve stems completely clean, those valves really do get gunked up.

    • @ronfromportland
      @ronfromportland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very nice! Do you have catch cans or AOS? Just trying to gauge how dirty the valves are with mine. I’ve been running catch cans but I know carbon build up is inevitable.

    • @aaronanderson5573
      @aaronanderson5573 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ronfromportland I decided to run an AOS. Only have a few hundred miles since getting everything on and blasting the valves. My tuner says they don’t see issues arise until around 100k miles. Even though an AOS/cans and egr delete should help immensely, probably give them a look after 30k miles or so. Try it DIY, only $100 or so to get the gear, much cheaper than a shop would charge.

    LOVE those rear window overlays! I'm am ordering a set right now! Not a huge fan when ppl lower their WRX's tho... its a rally car... I prefer the clearance, not trying to destroy my wheel wells. I love the CF engine covers too.
    Have you run both catches/AOS? Curious Which performs better.

    • @ronfromportland
      @ronfromportland  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! The car is lowered but not even an inch for the clearance and drivability. I’ve only had catch cans. AOS is great but I still am not the biggest fan of recirculating fluids, no matter how minor it may be. I’d rather push the fluids out and dump it out when the cans get full. Regardless, either of them are better than not having anything!

    • @Hawk7886
      @Hawk7886 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol, the car is absolutely not set up for any sort of rally driving in stock trim... The stock suspension is extremely soft with tons of body roll, coupled with open diffs front and rear and heaps of understeer means they feel awful if you try to push them in the dirt. Fact is, 99% of these cars will never see anything more intense than a dirt driveway.
      It's all subjective, but I preferred steering/suspension upgrades before any power mods. Stiffening stuff up and reducing the body roll and understeer made the car so much nicer to drive.

    • @aaronanderson5573
      @aaronanderson5573 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hawk7886 for me the stock suspension is nearly too stiff for daily use and rough roads. Never felt much body roll, but I don’t track mine. LSDs really should have been incorporated and it definitely understeers when pushed. Still fun to get sideways on slick roads.lol

Am I on the right track or very wrong?

    • @ronfromportland
      @ronfromportland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good on your for doing the research! You are on the right track. The WRX is definitely a good daily driver. I’m still able to hit 30 mpg on long drives. I ended up doing some suspension work and it made it more fun to drive. The only suggestion I have is to be extra careful when buying these cars used, meaning meaning make sure you do a rundown test on everything you possibly can.
