Always loved turtles and had the primary characters from 88 I guess, but lost interest as I was 12 by 88, but I have always thought the line was amazing and cool! To reissue this smaller is going to upset collectors, especially the ones that can’t afford an original.
I've been blowing up your comments section, my apologies. But this is some great content, man! Taking us to school with this stuff. As far as reissues, I don't mind them. I'm disappointed the Technodrome is going to be smaller though. I'm wondering if it will be compatible with vintage sewer pipe, or if they do the sewer lair reissue, will it be scaled down similarly to account for the play feature. That's the kind of stuff that would bug me about a reissue. As far as the figures go, I've still got all my childhood Turtles, so they haven't made anything I really "need" yet aside from the Technodrome. But if the rumors are true about Scratch & Hot Spot, I'm absolutely fine with getting those instead of dropping $1k+ for originals of those guys. I've also been considering getting into the more common character reissues just for parts replacements for my old ones. It's going to be a task figuring out what I'm missing though.
The original Technodrome has a very special place in my heart. I was in foster care and my parents were allowed a visit for my bday. My gift that year was the Technodrome.
My grandmother bought me a technodrome for my birthday. I remember begging my grandma in the toy store. And she surprised me . I'll never forget that. I'm getting the re-issue I don't care if it's just a little smaller then the original
I had the original technodrome as a kid. Had the blimp, two turtle vans, and a bunch of figures. I always thought the technodrome was chinsy built. The spindly little support legs and hinges for the swing out sides. The easy to break eyeball ramp. There never seemed like the figures ever properly fit in any part of it. I had a neighbor kid down the road from me who made his own street and multi-level skyscrapers and sewer playset. Was on like a 4x8 sheet of plywood on sawhorses. The turtle van could drive around three sides. Play on rooftops. Kid went on to become like a PHD in physics. Was epic.
They shrunk Krang's hole to match where he ports into this. Honestly, if they scaled this up 50%, they'd sell more and preempt other licensees from doing new bigger Technodromes. Seriously: scale everything up 50% and change the foot pegs to modern action figures and every Super7 and NECA collector buys every vehicle and playset.
It sucks that this reissue is smaller than the original but this has always been a holy grail for me. I've asked my parents for the technodrome as a kid for birthdays and Christmas and never got one, and I plan on getting this one.

Fingers crossed the pre order I made actually ships (I ordered two) as things like this get canned all the time in Australia. If one turns up, that would be grand. Lost count of how many times I've ordered stuff from major retailers here to be met with "we can't get any stock" on a pre order when they get stiffed from the parent companies. I didn't even know Hot Spot or Scratch existed until way later in life thanks to the internet. I think color change could work for Action Force in regards to disappearing blood or camo effects, maybe tattoos or some kind of disguise gimmick

There may just be a little cost savings with the new Technodrome less plastic to produce, and a smaller box. Though devils advocate they could be doing it that way so resellers can't flip it as a vintage one. Making it obviously identified as the reissue. I have a vintage technodrome. But I'm still looking forward to the reissue knowing its going to be a tighter fit. Still going to be a bit of magic stickering it up, and displaying figures in a brand new shell.

He got it wrong just like he doesnt say what Flynn said about using vac-metal on his line that uses a different plastic. Im not hating on the guy, but Im not going to act like he can do no wrong.
they didn't make it smaller... they recast it. thats why is smaller. Probably the original moulds were broken or else, so they casted new moulds from an original one. That explain its reduced size.
I had the four turtles, Splinter, Ace Duck, Shredder, Foot Soldier, Krang, Beebop and Rocksteady. Only wave 2 I got was Ace Duck before I was out of playing/collecting toys. I loved Beebop and Rocksteady. I can't touch anything Vac Metal, it's pure for show; it's beautiful but purely show.

I wonder if they'll change the sewer at all though, because the pipe included with it hooked up to the original Technodrome, right? If they're keeping that function, the hole on the 'drome would need to stay the same size on the new model or they'd have to shrink the pipe & hole on the sewer.
Bobby ? I wanted to ask you and I know you don’t know how Mcfarlane works. But why is it so hard for them to get the likeness right. Doesn’t he work with WB? I would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks again Bobby.
I’m glad Playmates went smaller, can you imagine buying a “vintage” Technodrome off eBay then you find out some parts were swapped with the new one after paying top $?! 👀
All of TMNT was one line back then. Even when they did things like the Toon Turtles, the Movie Star Turtles, etc., it was all still considered part of the same line and was meant to be compatible. By the time the "Toon Turtles" came out, I was at the point where I was getting "too old" for toys (I think I was about 13), so I didn't end up with many figures from that sub-line. I had no interest in the Turtles themselves since IMO they looked ridiculous and not very much like the cartoon. I would have liked to get the rest of the Channel 6 news team and the Neutrinos (I had the previous version of Zack that got released, but not the version/repaint from this line or the other two Neutrinos). The only one that I did get was Toon Shredder, since he was a repaint of the 1988 Shredder figure in more cartoon accurate colors. I also agree on some of the vintage figures, especially from later in the line, being ridiculous and things that I wouldn't want to collect even if they were cheap. Many of the really expensive figures now are things that I wouldn't want anyway. And if I did have them, I would happily sell them off with the current value being what it is since they are figures I just don't care much about. I had (and still have) a decent vintage collection. A good amount of figures from 88-92 (with a little 93 sprinkled in). I didn't get everything, but had a lot. I also had a decent amount of i playsets and vehicles, including the Sewer Lair, Technodrome, the Mutant Module vehicle, Party Wagon, and the Turtle Helicopter (I never did get the blimp).
I can’t believe they made it smaller I will not be buying that one. If they come out with the sewer and it’s smaller that’s the one I want. I don’t know if I’m gonna buy it if it’s smaller. I can’t I can’t even 😆
I was done with Turtles for a couple years and was getting into PotF. ToysRUs still had Technodromes in stock for so long and I asked for one for my birthday to use as a Deathstar 😂
The original was undersized compared to the figures, I remember taking Shredder's legs off for him to fit in the seat. This is pretty much the same release. We're buying memories not functionality.
@@ToyAttics I feel so lucky they are even re-issuing it. Been looking on mercari and the vintage ones are so expensive. Understandably so. My grandmother got me a technodrome for my birthday. So much nostalgia and sentimental value and I'll be able to take this one our the box and play with my kids.
I think toy companies use the environment as an excuse not to use Vac metal. I think it really comes down to cost, time, and adding another complexity to production. Im in the automotive industry and we use vac metal on grills, trim, and rims(alot of rims are not chrome they are aluminum with an abs cover with a vac metal coat)for example. And some of the pieces are really big. Its done all the time in manufacturing. Really I think it comes down to the cost in a $20 figure just isnt worth all the hassle and cost that comes with it.
I just realized why is this on Toy attics and not Valaverse? I am a huge TMNT fan and that was my major toy line. I had literally every figure and some small vehicles. I never had any play sets but always wanted the technodrome. Unable to collect at all so glad I'm not getting the new one with it being smaller. Also chrome dome has always been my favorite lol! Joe Eyeball lol! Muckman and Mutagen man were also big favs along with Wingnut and Screwloose. So crazy you mentioned the story about breaking your cousin's figure because my cousin Lee broke my Casey Jones and i remember being really upset!
In space... nobody can hear your vac metal flake off. My loose vintage metalhead and chromedome are in great shape. S7 just suck at making durable materials. My cyborg krang broke before i even touched it. And they dont care to improve their product materials.
@@ToyAttics There must be, and collecters at that, bc their Ultimates line is still going. But they are also the most criticised online by collectors. But many of those collectors, who are also TH-cam creators lol, also get hyped all over again over particular S7 lines. (See the reveal of 2013 Ultimates Turtles.) Re. the S7 vac metal. Go back to the show floor SDCC reveal of those figures. The head of S7 warned what would likely happen to vac metal, he said not to be as rough with it as you would when younger. That's not me excusing it if it's flaking off while it's just posed and left there. But if people are handling it over and over and it flakes off? I'm not shocked. Is there room for S7 to improve? Absolutely. But that argument can be levelled at just about everyone. (NECA should have modern articulation; SHFiguarts should have better QC; McFarlane should stop with the redic Platinum Editions / release more female characters, etc, etc.)
@Kaioken20 I think you meant 2003 Turtles, not 2013. NECA is doing the 2012 stuff though. I have to wonder if the margin on S7 Ultimates is just absurdly high, so they can still survive most of their products being discounted to half the original price. Just seems like their QC is all over the place compared to most other companies.
Bought the reissue blimp, and van..Not too sure about technodrome.. Maybe people who consider space more of an asset, for smaller model figures/sets. Never owned a technodrome in the 90's or 2024.. The debate is real.
@@ToyAttics oh wait i checked my steelheart, you could move the legs at the hips, they were on rackets but not much range and you can turn her head, all that plus the wing spring action.
Playmates TMNT reissues are all cheap plastic and you can tell. Thankful for the recent Pizza tosser and the Toilet Taxi even though you can’t find them or any of the other reissues here in Canada other than the four turtles... Not expecting the old 90s plastic but the point is the quality is waaaaaaay off.
I write the same on pixel dans reviews, you're not supposed to open the figures, sticky joints, paint flakes, you only have this issue if you open it. Keep these investments sealed ...it really is disappointing some of the issue with modern stuff it costs so much
Valaverse 😂😂😂. A line that is super niche. A line that is a copy of classified. A line that is not creative. A line for wannabe service members. And it’s a line headed by a guy that claims to know everything about toys.
Copy of classified? It's literally an expansion of the original Action Force from Palitoy. And Bobby worked for Hasbro designing figures so yea he does know a lot.
Vala worked at Hasbro & wanted to get them to make a 6 inch Joe line, they refused to do it. After Bobby started his own kickstarter it was for military figures in 6 inch scale, Hasbro decided to kick off Classified ..early figs weren’t very good, looked like video game characters. After the success & quality of Action Force, Classified improved. Both lines compliment each other, Joes have the classic characters but AF has far superior weapons. Get Both..Have Fun ;)

I’m glad Playmates went smaller, can you imagine buying a “vintage” Technodrome off eBay then you find out some parts were swapped with the new one after paying top $?! 👀
I've always curious why Bobby has such a vendetta against super 7. Did Flynn do something to him personally?
There is a rumor he applied there and wasn’t hired.
That rumor is false. Bobby just has a standard for toy making that he tries his best to stick to for his line and finds it odd when others don't
I remember loving the Cartoon but when the figs came out I was like these don't look like the Animation at all.
oh man, really?
I want the helicopter
It’s weird to run across this video for me. The newer smaller Technodrome is the reason I started building my own huge version.
I wonder how this new one compares in size to the Mega Construx one lol
You're building your own?
@@ToyAttics yes. At 4 feet tall.
Holy hell!
@@ToyAttics “Yesss…” said Morpheus.
I can’t believe they made it smaller I will not be buying that one. If they come out with the sewer and it’s smaller that’s the one I want. I don’t know if I’m gonna buy it if it’s smaller. I can’t I can’t even 😆
I bought it.
playmates had a warehouse fire and lost some tooling
@@248tonrobot yea. I think I mentioned that in another video. Still interesting they decided to go smaller
I was done with Turtles for a couple years and was getting into PotF. ToysRUs still had Technodromes in stock for so long and I asked for one for my birthday to use as a Deathstar 😂
@@bubby14 ha wow!
The original was undersized compared to the figures, I remember taking Shredder's legs off for him to fit in the seat. This is pretty much the same release. We're buying memories not functionality.
Hmm
This isn't a deal breaker for me. Pre-ordered my technodrome already and I can't wait.
Me too!
@@joshuasmith6346 Same, this was a favorite as a kid so I had to go in on it.
Stryfe wasn't vac metal? Coulda sworn he was lol.
Lol did you just break it. Lol
Probably.
I think that’s a fair assessment
Funny that Mattel has done a few vac metal pieces for their more recent MOTU lines.
yes.
That sucks they scaled it down
Doesn't it?
Ray filet was color change gi joe shadow ninjas were as well.
"I'm still gonna buy it." 🙄
@@octorok do it!
Because I filmed it for my channel...
Never got a technodrome and i dont even know if got release in my country. Reissue toys are cool! Resize is not cool!!
Reissues are the best!
In space... nobody can hear your vac metal flake off. My loose vintage metalhead and chromedome are in great shape. S7 just suck at making durable materials. My cyborg krang broke before i even touched it. And they dont care to improve their product materials.
Is there anyone left that actually likes Super 7?
@@ToyAttics There must be, and collecters at that, bc their Ultimates line is still going. But they are also the most criticised online by collectors. But many of those collectors, who are also TH-cam creators lol, also get hyped all over again over particular S7 lines. (See the reveal of 2013 Ultimates Turtles.)
Re. the S7 vac metal.
The debate is real.
well the reissue Blimp is even worse than the techodrome. It's completely different.
@@ToyAttics Now i don't wanna even open it..LOL jk. I thought it was similar other than some graphics and paint apps.
the bottom piece of the blimp is not the vintage it's from the modern line blimp
@@ToyAttics Gotcha! Major bunga bummer in terms of originality.
Can you just not vac metal the joints? That's how it worked for the vintage silverhawks, those figures had one action feature and not articulation.
Were they?
@@ToyAttics oh wait i checked my steelheart, you could move the legs at the hips, they were on rackets but not much range and you can turn her head, all that plus the wing spring action.
Playmates TMNT reissues are all cheap plastic and you can tell. Thankful for the recent Pizza tosser and the Toilet Taxi even though you can’t find them or any of the other reissues here in Canada other than the four turtles... Not expecting the old 90s plastic but the point is the quality is waaaaaaay off.
I don’t feel like it’s that off
Where's Shredder's Room? Because in the cartoon, he had a nice japanese theme room 😅
Haha!
1988 is when gijoe started to become lame.
Ha
shrinkflation for toys?
I love this term!
It's literally 1.5 inches smaller than the original. Not that big of a deal.
It’s actually a really big deal
Well that didn’t last long! Back to a shaved head I see.😜
This is 3 months old…
I write the same on pixel dans reviews, you're not supposed to open the figures, sticky joints, paint flakes, you only have this issue if you open it. Keep these investments sealed ...it really is disappointing some of the issue with modern stuff it costs so much
I don’t know about keeping them in box though…
@@ToyAttics I know, opening is the fun
@@ninjasecinvestment? If that’s what you’re banking on for retirement 😂😂😂😂. It’s a toy.
@@masonj4779 lol, I was being sarcastic
First of all, the hardcore fans already have a vintage technodrome, who would want to buy this cheap shit that they keep making
I’m a fan and I don’t have it
Valaverse 😂😂😂. A line that is super niche. A line that is a copy of classified. A line that is not creative. A line for wannabe service members. And it’s a line headed by a guy that claims to know everything about toys.
For example?
Copy of classified? It's literally an expansion of the original Action Force from Palitoy. And Bobby worked for Hasbro designing figures so yea he does know a lot.
@@robbieracer3294 concur
Vala worked at Hasbro & wanted to get them to make a 6 inch Joe line, they refused to do it.
After Bobby started his own kickstarter it was for military figures in 6 inch scale, Hasbro decided to kick off Classified ..early figs weren’t very good, looked like video game characters.
After the success & quality of Action Force, Classified improved.
Both lines compliment each other, Joes have the classic characters but AF has far superior weapons.
Get Both..Have Fun ;)
I sold my original for $300 🤑🤑
