True, but it would be pure folly for Palpatine to not understand Vader would need at least some time to grieve and come to grips with the failure and loss he suffered. Better to give Vader patience to have the time he needed for his pity party to pass, rather than force him not to, and have it always there as a crack in the foundation.

I couldn't agree more here Daryl, and it really speaks to how well James Luceno tapped into Vader and the story in "Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader." Vader wasn't a fool, and was clearly justified in being concerned Sidious would replace him in the early days of the Empire. These were some great scenes in that novel!
It never sat right with me that Vader... a kid who was constructing droids and pod racers from scrap parts in a junkyard at age 8... never managed to build himself a MUCH better suit. Especially now that he has all the monetary and technological resources of an entire galaxy to work with.

He would have to remove his prosthetic limbs and temporarily turn off his life support systems. If he did so, he would’ve risked losing his own life in the process 2. The suit he currently wore already helped tap into the power of the dark side by feeding off his pain, misery and hatred 3. Vader was so depressed that he didn’t not bother making a better suit. He felt that this was his punishment for all of the stuff he did in the past. Besides, even if Vader did encase himself into a batter suit, it’s questionable if he could overthrow Palpatine since his Force potential was already reduced

Sidious really believes in "The strong rule and the weak crumble". He did promise Dooku the same goal of ruling the Galaxy but kept an open mind. If Dooku fell then he wasnt truly worthy of being beside him.
The thing was, while Anakin was instructed to KILL Dooku, Dooku was manipulated into not giving his full potential. Dooku was told to try and turn Anakin to the darkside, NOT kill him. I think it is telling that in all likelihood, in his own mind at least, he was being 100% honest and transparent when he told Vader that he would never seek to replace him as an apprentice. He likely thought it was physically impossible for there to be anybody who could approach Vader in power. At least, until Luke showed up on his radar, then Sidious knew there was at least one person who may eclipse Vader in power. Sidious, I think, was incapable of true loyalty. At the end of his life in Episode 6, he almost literally thought the universe revolved around him. I can't help but wonder, If he hadn't tried to replace Vader in the Throne Room so brazenly, would Vader have still been redeemed into the Light? Perhaps. But I think things would certainly look different.

Palpatine was never shy about looking to replace Vader, and I believe that after a time Vader came to anticipate rivals, even as he began searching for his own apprentice. This was the reason for the Inquisitors, Hands, and other dark adapts of the force that Palpatine developed, also Vader began with Starkiller and others to seek worthy apprentices to become future Sith Lords. Luke happened to be the best contender, though I believe that Mara Jade would have been an excellent selection as well.

This was a level of control that she never experienced under Palpatine and Vader. Vader knew of Darth Sidious plan to kick him to the curb. He was also plotting to turn Luke to the dark side of the force and to help him overthrow Palpatine. Hello Glenn! This was a cool video, though I have found something really interesting when I finished the game campaign in Star Wars: Empire At War: Forces of Corruption. WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVENT SEEN THE STORY -- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Throughout the campaign, the story seems to revolve around a mysterious Sith Holocron. I wasn't really sure who it belonged to, however, as it was not mentioned in the game. But after I finished the game, I paid rather close attention to the ending cinematics where Silri, a Nightsister whos very adept in the Dark Side of the Force, discovers the origin of the Holocron and unlocks its star map. This star map ultimately leads her to what it looked like a very large vault. However, when she enters the vault, there is a literal army of soldiers who'm are frozen in carbonite. Upon very close inspection of these soldiers in carbonite (this game is old, and pixels arent the best so I 'could' be wrong.) I determined that these soldiers could very well be Sith Soldiers from Revans Sith Empire. Behind the army of soldiers is a statue of some type of Sith. It looked nothing like Malak, so I naturally assume that the statue 'could' have been Revan, or maybe a high ranking Dark Jedi within Revans army. I also thought that this Holocron could very well be Revans Holocron. I was wondering if you could do a video on this type of subject, as well as maybe a speculation on what Silri could have done with this army of Sith Soldiers.

I almost fear that they are building up to retconning Vader's turn back to the light. Think about it; the seed to say that Vader killed Palpatine out of anger for Palpatine trying to replace him with Luke has been planted. If Vader recognized this truth in the confrontation with Luke it might have factored in quite heavily with Vader's decision to kill Palpatine. Perhaps Vader didn't intend to die for his effort and was hoping still to rule with Luke.
I find it interesting, Sidious told Dooku that he would be the separatist, Vader the the leader I think and Sidious the main ruler of all. Anakin is so realistic to me, we share some similarities with each other, Vader never really liked himself as much as I did, never gained what he wanted, lied to himself, manipulated, betrayed, abandoned, then left to die in hell eternal.
Well this fear became a reality later in episode 6: return of the jedi because Palpatine discovered Luke and believed him to be a more suitable and better apprentice than Vader. Vader discovers this when he was listening to Palpatine trying to tempt Luke to the dark side. Of course, Luke refuses several times and is nearly killed by Palpatine for his refusal.
not even the almighty chosen one could be considered non expendable sidious considered EVERYONE or damn near, as disposable pawns. it's not just that it's the way of the sith it was also HIS way in particular little by little he began to focus inwards thinking only about himself in his position of power the rule of two must be adhered to in order for the sith to survive abandon it and well we all saw what happened ONE TO EMBODY THE POWER ONE TO CRAVE IT.
Maul was a embarrassing failure defeated by a Padawan and not one of the highest Calibur even if Sidious knew Maul survived I doubt Sidious would take Maul back after a humiliating defeat like that some would replace Maul with Dooku but shortly after find out Anakin exists so plans to replace Dooku Who was too old when he turned to the dark side then Anakin became even more messed up then Maul in his damaging injuries but Sidious had no one else at the time so had to settle with Vader until he found Luke

@@jamessteed7895, he pretty much was in Legends too. Yes, it took him a few weeks to get stabalized and his suit optimized, but he was very quickly back in the game and absolutely terrifying. The only difference was that we were allowed to see briefly behind the mask in those early days, but for the Jedi and civilians who were not acquainted with him, he was a monstrous figure forged in nightmare.

This star map ultimately leads her to what it looked like a very large vault. However, when she enters the vault, there is a literal army of soldiers who'm are frozen in carbonite. Upon very close inspection of these soldiers in carbonite (this game is old, and pixels arent the best so I 'could' be wrong.) I determined that these soldiers could very well be Sith Soldiers from Revans Sith Empire. Behind the army of soldiers is a statue of some type of Sith. It looked nothing like Malak, so I naturally assume that the statue 'could' have been Revan, or maybe a high ranking Dark Jedi within Revans army. I also thought that this Holocron could very well be Revans Holocron. I was wondering if you could do a video on this type of subject, as well as maybe a speculation on what Silri could have done with this army of Sith Soldiers.
Of course in the end Vader almost did become Dooku

In legends sidious attempted multiple times to replace vader and every time vader killed his challenger up until luke.

@@maryuma7 not the same comic but others story's like when he had a clone of maul fight vader or when galen fought him. Then there's cylos creations that where made specifically to kill vader. Sidious was always testing vader to see if he was still worthy of being his apprentices.

I almost fear that they are building up to retconning Vader's turn back to the light. Think about it; the seed to say that Vader killed Palpatine out of anger for Palpatine trying to replace him with Luke has been planted.
If Vader recognized this truth in the confrontation with Luke it might have factored in quite heavily with Vader's decision to kill Palpatine. Perhaps Vader didn't intend to die for his effort and was hoping still to rule with Luke.

You honestly wonder why he kept trying so hard with Vader. It took a great whole for him to amount to something.
Vader was EXTREMELY useful. Sidious wants to be a master and without Vader he is an emperor but to the Sith he is master of nothing.
I find it interesting, Sidious told Dooku that he would be the separatist, Vader the the leader I think and Sidious the main ruler of all.
Anakin is so realistic to me, we share some similarities with each other, Vader never really liked himself as much as I did, never gained what he wanted, lied to himself, manipulated, betrayed, abandoned, then left to die in hell eternal.
Well this fear became a reality later in episode 6: return of the jedi because Palpatine discovered Luke and believed him to be a more suitable and better apprentice than Vader. Vader discovers this when he was listening to Palpatine trying to tempt Luke to the dark side. Of course, Luke refuses several times and is nearly killed by Palpatine for his refusal.
not even the almighty chosen one could be considered non expendable sidious considered EVERYONE or damn near, as disposable pawns. it's not just that it's the way of the sith it was also HIS way in particular little by little he began to focus inwards thinking only about himself in his position of power the rule of two must be adhered to in order for the sith to survive abandon it and well we all saw what happened ONE TO EMBODY THE POWER ONE TO CRAVE IT.
Maul was a embarrassing failure defeated by a Padawan and not one of the highest Calibur even if Sidious knew Maul survived I doubt Sidious would take Maul back after a humiliating defeat like that some would replace Maul with Dooku but shortly after find out Anakin exists so plans to replace Dooku Who was too old when he turned to the dark side then Anakin became even more messed up then Maul in his damaging injuries but Sidious had no one else at the time so had to settle with Vader until he found Luke

Dooku was so weak in his defeat. All he had to do was force push or better yet force lightning Anakin when he was indecisive about killing him.

It's best to protest and not make a movie for another 10 years than to finish this one I've heard too many insights to the theme of this movie not impressed at all and wish it was never made

@@jamessteed7895, he pretty much was in Legends too. Yes, it took him a few weeks to get stabalized and his suit optimized, but he was very quickly back in the game and absolutely terrifying. The only difference was that we were allowed to see briefly behind the mask in those early days, but for the Jedi and civilians who were not acquainted with him, he was a monstrous figure forged in nightmare.
