Kingsman: The Secret Service Movie Description:
Gary "Eggsy" Unwin (Taron Egerton), whose late father secretly worked for a spy organization, lives in a South London housing estate and seems headed for a life behind bars. However, dapper agent Harry Hart (Colin Firth) recognizes potential in the youth and recruits him to be a trainee in the secret service. Meanwhile, villainous Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) launches a diabolical plan to solve the problem of climate change via a worldwide killing spree.
Kingsman: The Secret Service is a 2014 spy action-comedy film directed by Matthew Vaughn from a screenplay by Jane Goldman and Vaughn. The first instalment in the Kingsman film series, it is based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons.
The film follows Gary "Eggsy" Unwin's (Taron Egerton) recruitment and training into a secret spy organisation called the Kingsman. Eggsy joins a mission, in brutal and comedic fashion, to tackle a global threat from Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson), a wealthy megalomaniac and eco-terrorist wanting to deal with climate change by wiping out most of humanity. Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Michael Caine play supporting roles.
Kingsman: The Secret Service premiered at the Butt-Numb-A-Thon festival on 13 December 2014, and was theatrically released in the United Kingdom on 29 January 2015 and United States on 13 February 2015, by 20th Century Fox. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, who highly praised the stylised action sequences, direction, acting performances, villain, visual style, score and its dark humour, although some scenes were criticised for being too over-the-top. The film grossed over $414 million worldwide, becoming Vaughn's most commercially successful film to date. In 2015, it won the Empire Award for Best British Film.
A sequel, titled Kingsman: The Golden Circle, was released in September 2017, with Vaughn and the main cast returning. A prequel, The King's Man, was theatrically released in the United States on 22 December 2021.

You have elevated "reacting" with your editing. It's so funny and so well done
Thank you so much. That was the goal, and I feel like I still have a lot left to do with that specifically. The whole point is to make it more than reacting.
@@HelloMellowXVI that was some seriously impressive editing, dude. Putting yourself in the scene with the other holo-Kingsmen was impressive.
bet! I watch literally all of the reaction channels, and his editing is top tier.
In my opinion the second one isn’t bad at all. It’s not as good as the first but it still brings all the sane elements this one did. Great action
Nah the 2nd one was awful.. it undid all the elements of the first - The Kings Man was great imho tho
I think so too. It was still funny and fun to watch but the prequel wasn't good imo
Both stink
The sequel is almost as good as this one.. I love them both!
@@firstlast9846 the second one was frickin awesome! I loved it lols
Sofia Boutella who plays Gazelle does not
actually have prosthetic feet, those were CGI.
initially the role was offered to a number of
Paralympians who really had running-blade
prosthetics but the shooting schedule would
have interfered with their Olympic training, and
they had to use a non-disabled actress instead.
now I feel stupid because I have never even questioned, how they did her feet in the movie😐🤦♂
They couldn't have found a single person who wasn't an Olympian? Are those blades trademarked by the Olynpics? Because a film star who could actually do martial arts would be a better fit anyway than someone who just runs.
@@billbill6094 A lot of people can't even afford prosthetics, they range from 3.5-9k depending on if you have to get a knee socket or not hence why a lot of paraplegics opt for wheelchairs
That church massacre was one of the best action scenes in that decade. If you want another uniquely shot action film, check out the movie UPGRADE. It's a great action scifi that actually gets pretty deep at the end. And I know, that's what she said. Lol
For sure. Upgrade is amazing.
Upgrade is LEGIT
That movie blew my mind and one hell of a twist that I didn’t see coming
Fr upgrade is so underrated
the lisp was sam jackson's decicion, because he had the same lisp when he was younger and wanted to show more of the adversity that he had overcome on his path to success or somthing like that.
Common Jackson w
Apparently, what helped him overcome his lisp was to swear a lot.
@@reikun86 i mean shit it worked
He saved them by covering the grenade and preventing shrapnel from going everywhere as well as suppressing the explosion radius. Frag grenades arent super big explosions in real life iirc
You're right. If someone lays on a frag, their body will take most of the kinetic energy. People around still might get injured somewhat, but it won't really kill.
yeah frags arent mainly "blast" grenades, the blast spreads the metal bits. jumping on c4 or something is a fireball type bomb wouldnt help, but hopping on a frag would get the metel bits mostly stuck on whoever is covering it. if he didnt take on for the team, the shrapnel could have bounced all over the room.
Yeah, jumping on a normal grenade will definitely mess you up more, but it is a solid plan for any grenade for saving bystanders. It significantly suppresses the blast and causes it to lose a lot of power. My dad is ex military and we practiced working through the fear so we would be able to do it if need be (my dad was super high ranked in a very sensitive field so we had to deal with multiple assaults and kidnapping attempts, even some attempted poisonings and such, so like this wasn't totally uncalledfor)
I know it's not "original", but the church scene is my favorite scene in the whole movie. The long take that covers almost the entire scene was so incredible
Hehe I loved the Family Guy "recreation" of that church scene.
Frfr watching it in the cinema for the first time in 2015 totally unexpected it was like wtf this the best fight scene in history maybe even still now 🔥
As cool as it is, technically it's not a long take. Every time a person or something covers the screen, there's a hidden cut. But it doesn't take away from how cool it is
@@skatbrother3385 Thanks for the correction!
@@yourlittleinsomniac5369 how dare you Copy very original and creative profile pic 😤😤😤
The sequels arent bad at all. Definitely worth watching.
I had a hard time keeping up with the prequel. It was too political for me to understand
@@TheMadhatter1313 Ikr? I enjoyed it but took me 3 watches and research to actually understand it lol
@@TheMadhatter1313 is the prequel that newest one? I've only seen the first two I think
@@spootot yep
its not bad its much worse. that's what you get for involving US wokeness
In the original comic book, Professor Arnold was the main villain and had kidnapped actor Mark Hamill, which is why they cast Mark Hamill as Arnold as a little easter egg in the movie.
There is only one thing I love more than Mell's reactions and that is Mell's editing. So friggin' hilarious 😂
Right? LOL
Yeah, I love how he's been inserting himself into the scenes lately. So hilarious!
I don’t see a lot of comments about it but I appreciate the time taken editing these reactions, you putting your head on characters, the hologram cheers at the table etc..unlike any old reaction on youtube..keep up the awesome
work my man
Mell has by far the funniest reaction to the church scene ive seen and ive seen probably every reaction to that scene on TH-cam lmao.
The sequels aren't bad. Definitely worth watching. The first movie was just perfection.
My mom (66), who doesn't like action, violence and blood in movies, LOVES Kingsmen. She laughed her butt off at the church scene. This is one of the very, very few movies she watches again when they're re-run on TV (including her favorite Disney and animated movies).
Love your reaction, as always, happy new year!
The fact that i already watched the full reaction on patreon and im still here for the premiere😅🥰
@@DeejayWilson7500 Says the bittch that can only afford the free version? Move around with your dusty "wheres my hug" lookin ass
Your reaction through the church scene was PRICELESS. 😂 This is one of my all times, and I'm very happy you've finally scene the glory, that is, Kingsman. Such a good fucking movie!
It's like the "Screen Rants'" "Real Trailer" guy says,"Kings...Man, this movie came out of nowhere!" or something to that effect.
6:26 it was a hand grenade dude, the explosion was muffled because Eggsy's dad jumped on it, if he hadn't the shrapnel would DEFINITELY have hit everyone in the room and at that range almost certainly killed them all, even in body armour
valentine explains why he has to make constant contact with the machine. He believes that it should take sacrifice for the user to kill all those people. He has to hold it constantly and it causes him pain while he’s using it.
One of the funniest action comedy spy films ever made!
33:32 The Robbie Rotten meme had me dying! I was not expecting that. 😂
At 4:10 when Mello said "I'm throwing them hands after that" you know he's serious and Billy would probably join in throwing hands too while laughing it up
Say what you want about the writing on that princess role, with all the clichés of male fantasy, but that delivery of the "I'll be right back" is worth it all.
I'll never understand what's so wrong with "male fantasy" in a movie aimed at a primarily male audience.
Like there are no movies that cater to _female_ fantasy. (Twilight, anyone?)
@@JakkFrost1 There is nothing wrong if it is done right like in this movie. Because it is heavily tongue-in-cheek.
But when it's done in a way that people can confuse it with realistic interactions, then it becomes a problem.
i think its a super Mario reference
Second one is brilliant aswell but no.1 is one of the best films ever so that’s why you’ve heard negativity about the second one. Still really worth a watch tho! Stellar cast and amazing action scenes ofc
The thing about frag grenades is that the explosion isn't that big, but the metal fragments from the grenade shell go pretty far pretty fast. The M67 frag grenade has a fatality radius of 5 meters, which definitely would've covered that room, and an injury radius of 15 meters.
That Robbie rotten pull down at the end was so funny man 😂😂😂
23:04 *Spinning across the screen* "WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH CLIMATE CHANGE?!" fucking died bruh
The way you edit yourself into your reactions is actually so awesome!!!
5 min of the hardest editing you have ever done!!! FREEBIRD!!!
Dope reaction mel. One of the greatest action movies of all time. The cinematography is gorgeous. The church fight scene is epic
This is one of those movies that I went in on with mediocre expectations, but was blown away. I thought it may be ok and I just wanted something to eat some time, but I didn't expect it to be this good. Yes it's over the top and a few parts are a little corny (in a fun way), but this movie just has a little bit of everything and the camera work is fantastic. I love how the camera is frantic and fast paced, but it also keys into something and stabilizes so you can get the "omg what the hell was that?" aspect...like in the church. It was definitely one of those movies that takes you by surprise in the best ways. The other movies aren't terrible either; I think they just have the stigma of not being as good as the original and to be fair it would be hard to top this movie.
The church scene caught everyone off guard but one of the best fight scenes of the year
Mell's reactiong to THAT fighting sequence was all of us when we first watched this film
It's even crazy to discover that this film is actually based on a comicbook run, which is something similar I didn't know with The Crow.
🧐 SPLENDID EPISODE 👌🏼 BRUVS . GREAT MOVIE 🎬 AND GREAT 🎉 REVIEW. GOD BLESS YOU ALL 🙌🏽 THANKS FOR GIVING US SUCH GREAT CONTENT 👍🏽.
The editing in this reaction was insane! I love how you were added into the meeting as a hologram, that was so awesome. Love the editing and your reactions.
Couldn’t wait to see your reaction to the church scene and it was well worth it. That scene is one of the best action scenes I have ever watched. It is a masterpiece 👏
24:50 I saw this movie in theaters. The theaters was a combination of dead silence, gasps, and laughs. It was one of the best moments I’ve had in theaters
The editing in this movie was amazing, but I gotta say the editing in this video is fire as well.
I had a blast the first time I saw this. Impeccable cast and funny as hell. Not for the squeamish 😂
funny you mentioned MIB in the training scene. both the mib comics and the kingsman comics were the same people
No CGI with Colin Firth: he did 90% of his own stunts
This movie caught us ALL off guard. When that church scene first hit... the whole WORLD buzzed for 2 months.
The second movie is great fun, but no matter what, what movie, what franchise, I'll always say watch it yourself if you have any interests, as we all have different tastes. The sequel has similarly some amazing fight scenes and humor. The third, Kings Man is sort of an origin story, so different characters, different setting, but still worth a watch imo
The second one is actually worth watching!
Lol "askin ta git done in bruv" 😆 🤣
Dude when you put yourself into the scene is so funny! Great movie, great reaction. Thanks bruv
nah bruh, when you showed up at the table as the hologram I howled omds lmao
I love this one. The second one is also fantastic. To be honest that one is my favorite one of this series.
great reaction man. Great editing and genuine reactions, something that 90% of reactors don't have.
"You got the Toilets out in the Open like that?"
Oh, Mell.
Just ask anyone who's been in the Military.
The Robbie Rotten meme killed me! I love it! 🤣
I can't speak to whether or not Taron Egerton ("Eggsy") was ever offered the role of Wolverine. But, fun fact: the man who landed the Wolverine part, Hugh Jackman, landed the role of Egerton's skiing coach in the film "Eddie The Eagle", which I highly recommend.
This was the first video I've seen of yours and subscribed because this has been some of the best editing I've seen! Quality work, thx for putting in the time!
All three Kingsmen movies are excellent!!
This movie definitely set a high bar for the sequels. To be honest, the next movie after this isn't that bad, its pretty good if you ask me. Just not quite as high as this one. If this movie is an A+, I would say the second one is a B+, third one would be more of a C+
Mell you're winning here using that subtle Halycon and On and On. Keep up the great work!
I watched the 2nd one first by mistake and loved it then watched the first one and loved it and seen both multiple times, not seen the prequal yet though.. awesome reaction as usual
That editing at the table with the KINGSMAN. Kudos my guy.
No disrespect but obvious you do not understand how grenades work. That can happen when you believe what movies show. This was actually quite accurate. The explosion is relatively small and the majority of the damage is done by shrapnel. If Eggsy's dad had not used his body to cover the grenade the radius that shrapnel covered would have severely, if not killed every man in that small room.
Ay, fire editing on this reaction video! 🔥😁
When Gazelle was doing her breakdancing attack;
Mel: "Oh my God! I would be in awe Bro!"
No, you would be in pieces...and in awe.
I loved your reaction man. I was so impatient to see your reaction to the church scene, and it was pretty close to my inner monologue, because I was sitting slack-jawed during it, except for the, occasional giggle.
People have a habit of being stuck on the great things in one movie and not appreciating the things brought in later movies. The other ones are pretty good. Still have the fun action and gives you more to the story. I think they’re worth a watch for you to judge for yourself.
This movie was absolutely amazing. What a great take on action and comedy with some serious style points. 10/10 for sure
"Im just afraid of heights.. and bustin my a$$" bro i felt that in my bones 😂
I loved the heck out of the second movie, but the first is my favourite. Well made film. Lots of fun.
Skydiving is great. One of the perks of working for the newspaper of a military base was I got to do a tandem skydive with the skydiving team out of a Blackhawk helicopter. I'm also scared of heights, too, but it was amazing.
I like all Kingsman films. They bring back what the James Bond films lost over time…
Humour
Seeing Mell get that excited was so fun. We all had the same reaction
This is the first reaction video I'm seeing from you and I love your vibe. Really entertaining to watch. Love this movie, too. Very happy you liked it.
hahaha dude your edits are hilarious!
Nicely done.
3:20 “I Wonder If He’s Going To Be The Villain” 😮
Your inserts are really good, thanks for bringing something new to the genre
the sequel really isn't bad. I loved it. and the prequel is amazing as well. watch them both!
Yo the yo Lancelot edit at the table is dope asf looking lost made it funny lol
A kings men game would be fucking crazy
Man everytime you're edited into the scenes I lose it 😂 such a good idea
The grenades the terrorist had in the beginning were fragmentation, so they don't have a large explosion, unlike what is often portrayed in movies. In reality it's's usually a bang, a puff of smoke and a shower of metal shards. The shards are what kills, not the explosion or concussion.
In a confined room the spread of a fragmentation grenade would be lethal. So by jumping on them, Eggsy's dad absorbed the Metal shards, saving the others.
The lighter grenades the Kings men use are high explosive so they kill with concussion rather than fragmentation, that's why they have a far bigger bang.
Happy New year Mello 🥂. Good to be back me I mean not you. Love this film a phenomenal cast Colin firth, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine to name a few. Enjoy the ride . Until the next time 💜
The 3rd one is pretty good, it's a prequel on how the Kingsman were created
First time watching your vids and I’ll say I enjoy your editing. Very entertaining
Mell encounters the "stepdad" from Kingsmen... oh, you know I clicked right away!
Amazing react. the reaction, the memes, the losing your shit... perfect
Just to reply as a UK resident to your editors comments:
- Rain - yeah ok fair enough thats pretty accurate
- Football - no. Some of us arent that deluded (besides I prefer hockey and baseball but I didnt grow up over this side of the pond so take that with a grain of salt)
- LU socks... just... no. Noone does that.
- PG tips is dishwater. Yorkshire Tea (which is made by harrogates of london and has about as much to do with yorkshire as Jamaican coffee in actuality I suspect but still....) is the true nectar of the gods. And I will die on that hill.
- Im mean yeah sure but you can pretty much just extend that to ALL of London as its a crazy expensive place these days. I mean tbh so is the UK in general but London really takes the proverbial!
The trilogy is excellent. Don't hesitate to see the sequel and the prequel!
The third one is horrible and isn't a true sequel.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 you're right, its a prequel
@@RedRoseSeptember22 the third one is pretty historically accurate which makes it the best one
I lost it at “The Backhand” 😂
The editing was awesome!
Brad Allan worked on the church fight, he was one of the best action coordinator in Hollywood (in the world?). He died 2 years ago and nobody seems to realized what a huge lost it was...
10:51 that brotha startvin lmfaoooooo
One of the best action movies of all time, bar none. Absolutely entertaining from start to finish!
Okay, can we talk about how Colin Firth looked in his suits? He was in his mid-50s when he did this movie. Many a younger actor half his age or more cannot fill out a suit the way he did. Big ups to the costume designer who poured our Regency era (Pride & Prejudice) and modern era (Bridget Jones trilogy) Mr. Darcy into those suits! 😏
"That explosion really didn't have much of a radius"
Cinema kinda ruined grenades, since the M67 which it looked like he had according to wikipedia has an "injury radius of 15 meters (49 ft) and a fatality radius of 5 meters (16 ft)"
TOTALLY agree with you Bruv. 😃😃 Matthew Vaughn has done two masterpieces now (i.e. #KickAss ) THANKS !
Props for the editor for all the perfect comedic timing
One of my favorite movies, loved your reaction. Always love when you edit yourself in scenes, lol.
Me: 0:30
Friend: geez man you good
Me: stub my toe
You had the best reaction to the church scene! 😂😂😂
There’s only 2 movies and the second is not bad at all I would love to see that reaction soon and not have to wait months :(
Fun fact the idea for the lisp was Sam L Jacksons. Because bond villains always have some sort of deformity he wanted to give this villain a disability
Mel, your reaction was so good. This really is a great movie. IMO, the 2nd one isn’t bad, but it’s not as good as this original. I think it’s worth a watch…and a reaction. Do it, bruv 😂
One thing I appreciated about the second movie is that the motives of the 3 different villains actually made sense and were not over-the-top nonsensical (or at least not as much) as Sam Jackson's character's motives.
Of the 3 out so far, this one is definitely the best. The second one has the typical tropes of a "go bigger, go weirder"-sequel and does a few things I don't like, but it's still fun. The third one, which is actually (kinda) a prequel, since it takes place during World War I, is for the most part a straight drama story, but mixed with very crazy camp. Good action and acting, though, and it's the best photographed of the three.
I'd also like to give a shoutout to the composers, Henry Jackman & Matthew Margeson for the first 2 and Margeson & Dominic Lewis for the "prequel". I actually interviewed Matthew Margeson a few years ago for my podcast and he was really nice, we also talked about the first two movies a bit.
I love all of your reactions - but this is my favorite 😂
