    The crossroads formed by Osborn Street, Brick Lane, Wentworth Street and Old Montague Street can be regarded as 'Ripper Central'. In every direction key events in the horrific story of Jack the Ripper and the Whitechapel Murders were cast. The axis that passes east to west through this crossroads can be regarded as the Ripper's 'Super Highway'. This film examines this key location and discusses the significance for how the culprit committed these crimes... particularly the lead suspect Charles Lechmere.

    Yasssss! Lechmere’s walking routines match up with the crime scenes. I have heard folks ask, “Why would JTR kill on the way to work or on a day off?” It is logical that a serial killer will kill when it is convenient to him, any serial killer. Going to work is an especially good time because if stopped he states that he’s on the way to work which is perfectly true. Same with a day off. “I’m on my way to_____“. This is not speculation. A planned killing and escape necessitates planning for interruption. When considering Lechmere a suspect, I looked for facts to discount him such as if the murders happened WHILE he was at work. No murders occurred while he was at work, not a one.

      Possibly Chapman if her time of death is after 04:00. Though, even while working he travels the streets so he has the opportunity.

      I think it too dangerous to kill on the way to work. Probably blood smeared cloths at work would seem too suspicious. There would be little time to clean up or change clothes. Remember he would be working in broad daylight with at least some degree of blood on his clothes not associated with his duties.

    • @TiaMargarita
      @TiaMargarita ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MW-bi1pi Likely his bloody apron would not have attracted attention before or after the murder. After all, as a Pickford carman, meat delivery being one of his duties, keeping his apron permanently stained with blood. As for killing on his way to work, he certainly couldn’t kill while he was at work. He couldn’t kill while home or while visiting his mom. He couldn’t kill in daylight. Killing before or after work would be his only time. Even if he is not JTR. An alternate suspect would face the same problem. Killing after work would be too early in the evening. After work, he would be bone weary in mind or body. Killing before with is an excellent solution. His wife is asleep. He can leave an hour or two early. If she wakes up, it’s easy enough to come up with a story. Can’t sleep, going early. Work wants him yo come in early. Worry keeping him up so taking long walks will clear his mind. Any number of alibis.

      @@MW-bi1pi most serial killers acts could be considered too risky in hindsight and yet they still commit the acts, look at Bundy in the sorority house. You need to not think about the perpetrator as being like you or me, they were a psychopath and completely different to how most regular people operate.

    Huh.. interesting connection.
    Also I think establishing how long it takes to walk from Doveton to Broad St Depot would’ve been a major breakthrough if there really is validity over claims of several people it takes at least 40 min so Charlie must’ve left no later than 03:20; thus being with the body for nearly 20 min instead of 10 and so cementing him further.
    Glad you’re finally back. Was expecting a Mary Kelly follow up after videos going over previous victims but I also like this one.

  • @t.macgyver9372

    One can quite easily build a case against any number of the Ripper suspects that is based on circumstantial evidence as opposed to direct evidence. For example one can easily build a case against, George Hutchinson or even John McCarthy who was the landlord of 26 Dorset Street. That's the frustrating thing about the case. Until hard evidence hitherto unknown comes to light, which is highly unlikely, the case will always remain unsolved. I believe one can narrow down the long list of suspects to around 8 most likely ones, including the above.

    Yes Super Highway indeed even when he lived south of Commercial Road i attribute the Emma Smith attack to CL because of the sexual nature even though this was before he moved to Doveton St . It's quite east to take a dog legged North West route from James St to Osborn Street before onto Broad St Stn he would have taken this route many times via the hot spots . The Eddowes bloody apron and grafifito indicates he took a Northerly arc back home well away from the Stride murder scene on the way back to Doveton St . He knew by then the area would already be crawling with Peelers , this is also a strong indication he was responsible for the double event .

    Great to see you back in the saddle. I think the case for Lechmere as Jack the Ripper is quite strong but I am not convinced that he (or any of the main suspects) killed Mary Kelley. Rather than the culmination of the Ripper's killing spree, I see her murder as a deviation from his M.O. The crime was so brutal and over the top that it seems to have been influenced by sensational reporting of the earlier murders. Maybe her ex-boyfriend killed her in a jealous rage then mutilated her body to divert attention from himself. The fact that the door was locked seems extremely suspicious under the circumstances. A slip up?

    • @peterdixon7734
      @peterdixon7734 ปีที่แล้ว

      A good case can be made against Joe Barnett. John Douglas, one of those first-generation FBI serial offender profilers, once said (when discussing the OJ case) that frenzied attacks upon a victim, with a great deal of facial injury, were often indicative of a failed personal relationship between the offender and the victim. Barnett was an unemployed fish porter, who had had two recent "stressor" events - job loss and the relationship breakup with Mary Kelly. In addition, he knew how to get into that Millers Court room by operating the door latch via the hole in the window.

    • @ItsSVO
      @ItsSVO ปีที่แล้ว

      Her injuries were so severe because she was killed indoors without any chance of interruption therefore the act could be fully realised and indulged in unlike the public victims. The chance there were two serial killers with similar brutal M.O’s in the Whitechapel area is unbelievable low.
      Partners who kill out of jealousy do not tend to mutilate and display the body in this way.

    The accelerating level of violence, malevolence and sheer insanity demonstrated makes it difficult to believe Jack could have been mentally stable enough to pull off the charade of his sanity for a long period. Particularly not to become so successful in later life as Lechmere, with his demonstrated management and coping skills . I think it was someone completely mentally destroyed like Kosminsky, without the ability to seem normal for even brief periods. In my opinion, which means little, Kosminsky is the guy with possibly Lechmere/Cross a distant runner up based upon propinquity alone.
