Another good review. As a person over 6 feet tall the high back chair is what I look for. The whole reason for any chair is comfort otherwise we’d just sit on the ground or some other suitable surface.
This dude is living my whole dream. His girl rides with him and his passion, he bows to no man or corporation, and he rocks salon quality hair like a boss.
Have talked the wife into a week end camping trip to linville falls next week. I really need some time in the mountains just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to get back out and enjoy the world around us. Thanks.
I have the regular version of this chair, I find the pocked extremely useful as I can easily slide my cellphone in the pocket as opposed to keeping it in the pocket of my pants.
We have the Helinox Chair zero for me and my son has the Chair Mini. For car camping, Costco carries the "Cascade Mountain Tech Ultralight Highback Chair" for $30. It even looks just like the highback chair here. It even comes with a cushion. They weigh about the same. For backpacking, I carry the Chair Zero, at just over a pound, it's an amazing chair.
I bought the Klymit Timberline, essentially the same chair-minus the side pocket. I’ve sat in it every day since July4th and am sitting in it now. The only thing I have negative to say is the high back allows it to tip over very easily.
Even the high back is too small for a tall person. As someone who is 6"5. I would no doubt get backpain after sitting in either for more than 2 min. So funny how everyone tells you how cool is must be to be tall. Nope not at all, it's a pain in the life. Nothing fits, having to pick what fits you, instead of what you wants. Trying to find tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, that is long enough and can support your weight. I've had regular wooden / metal chairs collapse on me, because they are only rated for 100kg. The high life is the sad life ! lol
high back chair is called sunset chair (Helinox) or moon chair (Naturehike) for a reason, it's especially comfy for star gazing when one rest the head for long hours looking at the sky.
After seeing your review of the regular OneTigris chair I bought one. I've used it around home, and on two multi-day backpack trips. I've got to say, it's an awesome chair. Thanks for the reviews. I think the high back version would make a nice car camping chair.
I have two regular OneTigris chairs. One I keep in my living room and have had it in daily use for about 6 weeks. No sign of wear and it's quite comfortable. The other I have in my truck camper for when I do overnights. Works really well for that because it stores in a much smaller package than a regular folding chair. Thumbs up on the chair and on your videos.
Hey Luke, Doc here. I am one of those committed yet financially strapped viewers that counts on you for honest reviews of outdoor gear. Folks like me don’t have the extra financial resources to support your channel. However, it is our referral advice to other like- resourced folks that contributes to your channel’s exponential growth. We trust you; we share your channel. We are, I would say, the backbone of your Wolfpack. Thanks for who you are and what you do. A long-time viewer, Doc.
I have the shorter Camo chair that I took on a 7 week 10,044 mile motorcycle trip. I have large saddlebags and the chair fit in the top just fine. The chair is quality and sturdier than the cheaper chairs this style. I did use the side pockets to hold cozi's or to stuff the end of the bag in, so the bag wouldn't get last. The only thing I wish was that there were some plastic discs that would fit into those pockets that could be added to the feet to help the chair to not sink so much in softer ground. That's it, my only complaint, optional add on feet. I bought the chair based on you last review, and was happy with my choice.
If you're not backpacking, and want a chair that's gonna last, check out the Kermit Chair. Made in Tennessee, and are perfect for motorcycle camping. Optional leg extensions make them as tall as lawn chair, easier for us old folks to get up and down. Price is double of the chairs in this review, but you only buy one.
What would be cool - a 4 lb one person tent that can convert into a sleeping cot or chair simply by adjusting the poles and canvas into various configurations.
I bought two of the regular chairs to use in the cockpit of my trimaran. I put a small rivet in the side pocket to tie it down in case of a capsize. They work great on the boat and are easily moved ashore for a camp chair.
I have the original and see no need for the highback version. I'm 6'1 and the original suits me just fine and the added weight is significant. Good review, thanks.
These chairs like most others are missing an important feature, a sand cover ( goes over the feet to stop it sinking in soft soil or sand), I have a low back (OEX), and high back (Robens), chairs both comfortable and use the low back more often as the legs don't sink in the ground. 👍👍
For me the high back is the only one I would have after a few hours fly fishing, I have two of the smaller ones I give them to my grandkids and they love them and I must say I love the high back it’s far more comfortable so good review 👍🏴
I went broke because of this channel recommending such good products and amazing detailed reviews down to the molecule with each product .. i found one at such a great deal and pulled the trigger because of this channel lol … I came up on one of these for less than 30 dollars and the current market value on the internet from what it seemed like is close to $70 to $100 some listed … I hope they keep pushing out more awsome products so this guy can review them lol it’s the only channel I take advice from… so much surplus and camp stuff I have pulled the trigger on because of YOOOUUUU !!!!!! It’s like a addiction now and it’s my first year camping 🤣🤣
Ive got the old chair due to the review from this channel. Been enjoying it due to the small storage and light weight. Tigris should have made a new table before making a new chair.
I have a standard model and a Big Agnes highback. The One Tigris products are heavier, but feel much stronger. The Big Agnes, which has been sold out all summer, is far more expensive and very light and comfortable. The Big Agnes collapses down to fit in a smaller bag, because each upright is two pieces and the bar beneath the seat is two pieces as well. I am happy with my purchases, however, I would recommend the One Tigris to others as it is cheaper, easier to assemble and feels more durable.
The high back I bought from a different company has a couple add-ons that yours doesn't have... a head pillow that velcros on, and a foot rest that clips on. I leave both add-ons at home when I paddle camp, but take them car camping. They do make it comfortable enough for a brief snooze. (When I backpack these are too heavy so I take a hammock chair if anything) I have a couple of the small chairs too. They just aren't really comfortable enough for us tall folks (I'm about 6'3"). I will take the small ones car camping for others to sit in.
Some of us have longer backs and the high back would be well worth the money and extra weight. Im 6'9" and I know the high back is the only way to go. And, for that price, I might just get one.
I was looking at getting one of the originals. Just like many in the chat, i was afraid the original would be too small. Glad I waited. Thanks for the info!
Awesome review,,,, just what I needed to see,,,,, someone jumping back n forth between these two chairs and making an honest review.... thanks again for all your hard efforts over the years....
Just baught the high back version, should be here tomorrow. Can't wait to try it out. I have the Sportneer model and I love it. Just wanted something different. These kind of chairs are great for short hikes and bike camping.
I'm finding that the longer I sit in my chair, the original, it seems to start digging in at the back of my armpits ( I'm 250+ lbs). If I knew they were going to be coming out with the high back I would have waited!! Hindsight....right!!
I just bought a Helinox high back version. Just over 1 kg, and 140e 😅 I tried the low back, but liked the high version because i'm able to rest my head, especially if I slide bit more downwards in the chair. Very relaxing! And I can use the carrying pouch as a pillow with something inside it. I like to use it to support my lower back.
I'm so glad you posted this! My husband has been looking for a good camp chair for backpacking but we didn't want to spend the money on something like the Helinox. These two are within our budget and all of our requirements. Now he just has to choose style and color.
My favorite chair: Trakker RLX Nano Chair. It's not foldable like these chairs and more suitable for those who use transport to the camping site. It has a bit of old Jeep feeling over it. I like it.
Nice review Luke👍 Seating height is everything to somebody 6'5". I tried one of these pack style chairs, did not work for me as getting into and out of was a total joke. I do however see the benefit for some shorter/lighter folks. Thanks.
I just got the regular version of this, to go with my OneTigris Backwoods Bungalow. I'll be using this setup along with the Lixada telescopic backpacking rod for fishing trips. A wood stove and a skillet, and that's some epic rainbow trout hopefully on the menu for having dinner outdoors at the reservoirs. So looking forward to this!!
Either one of these chairs beats sitting on a log or on a backless bench! Based on your review, I would opt for the high-back model because I am broad-shouldered: the cut-away shape would fit me better. For many years, I have owned a heavier fold-up chair with wooden armrests. A chair needs armrests to be truly comfortable. Realistically, I would not carry any of these chairs for backpacking. Chairs are for car camps.
I agree about the cut of the high back (as long as you’re not a big guy) and it’s a shame they don’t make it comfortable to sit back and rest your head.
Hmm ... would depend on what I was planning to use it for . For anybody who wants a really light , solid , backpacking chair that is minimalist . That is way better than a ground , rock or log . The Helinox Ground Chair . It sits really low , and is hard to get in & out of . But , is great after a long day hiking . About 23 oz . Nice review as usual ! Can't wait for the Van video ! I just went to Ford last week about ordering one , Reg roof 4x4 . They are NOT taking orders right now , which is OK . Cause I'm stuck on going Turbo 6 , or normally aspirated ??! Be safe out there ... gubs
My favorite hiking chair is Big Agnes Big 6 Camp Chair (the one with out the arm rest). I have wide hips and most hiking chairs do not account for this. Also, It is hard for me to get off the ground from a low chair or sit pad. It weighs 3lbs 14ozs and takes a few minutes to setup, but that is ok as it will keep me on the trail!
Trekkology has a high back chair version too. Always go with the high back version. It helps relax your upper back and shoulders after a long day’s hike. Seniors will really appreciate the high back version.
Thank you for this! I was about to purchase a Tigris chair! This helped me decide which to get. Ty! Love your reviews, love that you are honest and unbiased about products here. Enjoy your channel vm.
Good review. This may have been said, but in regards to making the high back less high but keeping the shape, with the back being higher, you’re able to keep the top bar out of your back. It’s a little heavy for backpacking though.
Ah, thank you for doing a review on the high back version- I’ve been waiting to finally grab a chair like these but then I noticed everyone has started making high back versions of it- and to be honest, the way you were positioned sitting in the high back chair looks more like what I’m looking for- I don’t mind extra weight & a few inches if it means I can lean back a bit and not have poles poking me in my arms lol.. You’ve made my decision much easier, thank you!
Highback for MUCH better shoulder room. D-Rings...I have been adding D-Rings to the edges of my chairs for decades. With them I can add any number of quick mods for hanging/securing pouches, fishingrods, firearms, shades, etc.etc, etc.
I bought and tested the OneTigris Highback chair in the Highlands and I can say this Its gucci and literally the best chair out there. I am a fatty and this thing is rated for a weight far bigger than me. It actually flexes a bit, in a good way. It does dig in to the ground but much less than other chairs due to the BIG rubber stoppers on the legs Reclining back into it, its so comfortable that you could literally sleep in it Leaning forward, the flex actually functions to make it practical if you are prepping a fire. Its basically a tactical deckchair that trumps every other chair system out there. The down sides are ..... Its really really big. Im talking "molle it to the outside of your pack" big. Its heavy: 1.36kg is basically half a tent. This is without doubt, the most awesome, comfortable, and best value-for-money chair, that anyone could buy... ...but it weighs about the same as 2x 750ml canteens of water, and THAT right there is the rub. I would not camp WITHOUT it. I would never hike WITH it. Its a wonderful chair but its a tank of a chair.
I am 5`8" short and it seems to me that a strategically placed rolled up jacket on that high back version could seriously pimp up your star gazing time by the camp fire!
I love the regular OneTigris chair, it’s good for about 3-4 hours of sitting before it starts to get uncomfortable. I would like to see a regular height back with wide leg cut.
I like the high back version, looks like it would work good for me being over 6' tall. Great little review Luke, hope you guys are having a safe trip. Cheers
Pretty sure I ordered the lower chairs based on your review...couldn't find the highback on slamazon for quite a while. Now they do have it, in black, for $80 but I recently picked up their "Dragonhide Camping Chair". The new Dragonhide version has a removable pillow, bilateral cup holders, and can be used in either a "high" mode or by stowing the legs in a "low" mode for $70. Seems a no brainer. I definitely like the highback version better than the originial I purchased. The low back can be for the kids.
The highback here is basically useless, the seat cut is what makes it. I own a similar chair which has a swivelling function and a highback onto which I can lean my head on. If I use a cushion, I can sleep in this thing. A matching footstool is included in the set, which makes it even more comfortable (and if needed, it makes for an emergency seat). There is velcro on the top of the headrest, onto which you can attach an also included flat bag which can be stuffed (e.g. spare clothes), which supports your head. It was not a cheap set, but worth every penny IMO. Love this thing.
Been using my standard size chair for awhile now. At almost 6' 4" @ 270lbs you do notice the top edges digging in a bit unless you position yourself correctly. With that said the chair is very comfortable and I can sit there for some time. I backpack mine and will be sticking with the standard chair. I keep waiting for it to give up on me, but so far not so much as a pulled seam.
I see OneTigris has a few new products available. That hammock awning/hot tent looks interesting. I wouldn't even bother with the hammock and just use it as a tent hahaha. Thanks for the chair review.
I’m much more inclined to stick with my bushcrafty sling chairs and tripod stool/footrest… they’re lifetime durable and weigh under a pound for both.. just add wood ;)
World touring at the minute and when we hit slow travel periods I want to take off and do some wild camping. Your videos rock bud. Paddy from Ireland (currently traveling across Europe with fam)
Thanks for these great reviews! I think the side pocket referenced is put there due to many competitors offering the same feature. In other videos I’ve seen this same type of pocket used to accommodate a cell phone. Warm regards.
Another good review. As a person over 6 feet tall the high back chair is what I look for. The whole reason for any chair is comfort otherwise we’d just sit on the ground or some other suitable surface.
I’m 6’5” and this might be what I’m looking for. I use my motorcycle for a pack mule so packed size and weight matters some but comfy is #1 for me .
This dude is living my whole dream. His girl rides with him and his passion, he bows to no man or corporation, and he rocks salon quality hair like a boss.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Have talked the wife into a week end camping trip to linville falls next week. I really need some time in the mountains just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to get back out and enjoy the world around us. Thanks.
I have really been enjoying all your shows. For some reason, I find them very relaxing to watch.
Me too! 😊
I have the regular version of this chair, I find the pocked extremely useful as I can easily slide my cellphone in the pocket as opposed to keeping it in the pocket of my pants.
Stay safe on your cross country trip and enjoy Luke and Susan

I think the high-back version would be a must for a tall person.
Even the high back is too small for a tall person. As someone who is 6"5. I would no doubt get backpain after sitting in either for more than 2 min.

The high life is the sad life ! lol
I have two three leg styled folding chairs, both a very comfortable to sit in, even though they don’t have a back rest.
high back chair is called sunset chair (Helinox) or moon chair (Naturehike) for a reason, it's especially comfy for star gazing when one rest the head for long hours looking at the sky.
On the high back chair it’s easier to keep your pillow behind your neck area if you want one there.
After seeing your review of the regular OneTigris chair I bought one. I've used it around home, and on two multi-day backpack trips. I've got to say, it's an awesome chair. Thanks for the reviews. I think the high back version would make a nice car camping chair.

I would go for the highback. But i own the adjustable sportneer
now to bring back the old table
What would be cool - a 4 lb one person tent that can convert into a sleeping cot or chair simply by adjusting the poles and canvas into various configurations.
Bro copyright this or something.
I bought two of the regular chairs to use in the cockpit of my trimaran. I put a small rivet in the side pocket to tie it down in case of a capsize.
They work great on the boat and are easily moved ashore for a camp chair.
I like the way you choose your scenery .. the color palette for your videos is always very pleasing!

Hi from Syracuse NY brother and thank you for sharing your thoughts and adventures and your family
For me the high back is the only one I would have after a few hours fly fishing, I have two of the smaller ones I give them to my grandkids and they love them and I must say I love the high back it’s far more comfortable so good review 👍🏴
You just helped me make my decision on purchasing these chairs. Thanks for reviewing and saving me time and money.
High back 100% Love this chair!
Ive got the old chair due to the review from this channel. Been enjoying it due to the small storage and light weight. Tigris should have made a new table before making a new chair.
Thanks Luke 👊 appreciate you, stay safe, be well my friend, Strength and Honor 🇺🇲 👍
I have a standard model and a Big Agnes highback. The One Tigris products are heavier, but feel much stronger. You could always cut a pool noodle to go across the aluminum bar at the top or just a camp pillow?
Cheap and light great idea!
Can't wait to see the One Tigris Cot review...I need a Helinox killer.
As for chairs...Nemo Stargazer all the way.
Is there a Stargazer knockoff?
The back with a travel pillow would be super!
Love the highback. Its more comfortable if you like to kick back and read in the chair.
The higher with a pillow...OMG what a knap!!
Really glad I watched your video, just picked up a chair for my trip next week. Definitely worth the xtra weight for good comfort around the fire
I'm finding that the longer I sit in my chair, the original, it seems to start digging in at the back of my armpits ( I'm 250+ lbs). If I knew they were going to be coming out with the high back I would have waited!! Hindsight....right!!
I love my helinox chair zero less than a pound easy to take into backcountry
I just bought a Helinox high back version. Just over 1 kg, and 140e 😅
I tried the low back, but liked the high version because i'm able to rest my head, especially if I slide bit more downwards in the chair.
I like it.
One Tigris site doesn't appear to be responding, however I did note the highback is available on Amazon for 53.00
Nice review Luke👍 Seating height is everything to somebody 6'5". I tried one of these pack style chairs, did not work for me as getting into and out of was a total joke. I do however see the benefit for some shorter/lighter folks. Thanks.
I have the helinox 0, love it
Great review I prefer the high back to support upper back and my neck I prefer comfort
Luke, I believe those little pockets are meant to hold your cell phone. Just a thought.
i own the short one and its a great chair
Great review! I bought the original version after watching your review. Can't believe they did not fix the pockets, good for maps only.
I bought the low back for car camping and would of happily spent the extra for the batter shape. But you will be happy with the low back.

This is my 1st video with your channel, and you answered every question I had in regards to these 2 chairs.. You earned a new sub today!
I agree about the cut of the high back (as long as you’re not a big guy) and it’s a shame they don’t make it comfortable to sit back and rest your head.

2 great camp chairs there. Thanks for showing us these.
"They're just as worthless". I laughed out loud when you said that.
I thought I was the only one lol 😂
I actually rolled back a few seconds just to make sure he actually said that…
They truly are. Who would try to store anything in them?
My favorite hiking chair is Big Agnes Big 6 Camp Chair (the one with out the arm rest). I have wide hips and most hiking chairs do not account for this. Also, It is hard for me to get off the ground from a low chair or sit pad. It weighs 3lbs 14ozs and takes a few minutes to setup, but that is ok as it will keep me on the trail!

All copies of Helikon version
@@darrenboorman4365 lol ok? Every product on the planet is a copy of another just like your car smh
You should do a comparison between the Helinox vs. the One Tigris.
And possibly throw a TravelChair into the mix.
Awesome, perhaps another VS episode with Helinox's counterparts? 😎😎
Highback for MUCH better shoulder room.
D-Rings...I have been adding D-Rings to the edges of my chairs for decades. With them I can add any number of quick mods for hanging/securing pouches, fishingrods, firearms, shades, etc.etc, etc.
One Tigris seems like some of the gear is a little hit or miss. But both these chairs seem solid.
I bought and tested the OneTigris Highback chair in the Highlands and I can say this
Its gucci and literally the best chair out there.
I am a fatty and this thing is rated for a weight far bigger than me.
It actually flexes a bit, in a good way.

I would not camp WITHOUT it.
I would never hike WITH it.
Its a wonderful chair but its a tank of a chair.
I am 5`8" short and it seems to me that a strategically placed rolled up jacket on that high back version could seriously pimp up your star gazing time by the camp fire!
If the 'weight' of the pockets were a deal breaker, just remove them by cutting the stitching with a razor blade. Good review as always
23 stone? cool, I can still use them!
Cheers
Relocation of the pockets to a hanging pocket in the front would make more sense to me.
...what ? no recliner...lol..good one, keep safe and have a great week...
I will definitely own a high back.
I have the regular version in camo...its quite sufficient!!
I'm liking that low back - and the side pockets probly good for cell phone ....
I've got the ARB 4x4 Touring folding chair with real arm rests. That's the one to get.
When setting up these chairs, assemble the bottom first. The higher back rids bend easier to accept the cover.
I definitely will try the high back version and let you know how I felt. Thanks for another excellent review 👍
The Eldris knife is for whittling
Great review...but I'll go for comfort everytime this 70 y.o. vet likes his comfort these days. Wishing you and yours the best.
Im 6 foot 4. Im buying hi back. Top bar is coming out and sewing a 12mm bungee in there
I like the high back version. It would be nice to have support for a heating or cooling pad behind your neck, if needed.
Thanks Luke 👍
That would be helpful for those taller I figure.
