I think its just a case of the good young talent is already in F1 as gotten there quicker than usual. In general F1 is a bit spoilt in the amount of young talent it already has.

It's great to see Nyck finally get his due. He hails from the same town where I spent most of my childhood, so I've followed his career with close interest ever since first hearing of him when he was just a 14-year old karting prodigee back in 2010 or so. He promised to be The Netherlands' next big racing talent, well before Max Verstappen entered the picture. I watched him race at Spa in 2014, and I've been cheering him on throughout his campaigns in F2 and FE. It looked like his career might be petering out lately, but Monza 2022 was exactly what he needed to get the chance that he deserved. I'm very happy for him, and I hope he lives up to his promise next season.
I wish him luck. He's a lovely lad. Though he can be inconsistent, maybe his first full year in F1 will be his year to shine. Alpha Tauri is not going to be a frontrunning team next year, but hopefully they'll be better than last year. I just hope that they give him a better year than poor Brendan had!
Nyck De Vries is another excellent example of why you shouldn't give up on your dreams even though it looks like the ships has sailed and all the critics and pundits have written you off. You keep going, establish new relationships, try other things and find a different route into the career you want. Well done to him.
You’ve hit the nail on the head Aldas. Let’s see how he utilizes the opportunity next year. If Williams had clamped down on him earlier and the deal with Alpine and Gasly still happened, I wonder who would’ve been placed in that seat
So excited about Nyck! AlphaTauri has been my team since I saw my first race, and Monza this year was around the time I really got drawn into F1 in a deeper level. Perfect storm for him, and I’m hopeful he’ll do great things!
De vries was always hyped as far as i can remember him. If I'm not mistaken, McLaren signed him when was still a teenager, and they had big hopes for him. I guess it's just one of those who missed out on a very good opportunity, some generation of drivers don't find the space to enter in F1 when they are young, and in F1, the train usually don't stop twice. But the fact the he remained for so long in the F1 sphere is a true statement of his true talent. When the opportunity finally arrived, de vries easily impressed/confirmed what we already suspected. I've been rooting for him since a very long time, because I've seen a lot of less talented drivers taking a seat in F1 before him, but in his case, justice was made. I don't think de vries is a world champion calibre driver, but I'm certain, is more than capable of doing a very good job wherever he is. I'm 100% sure that is going to beat tsunoda, unless yuki take a massive step forward, which I don't believe it's gonna happen.
Look at Pascal Werhlein as another less lucky version of that. He basically got the privilege of driving 1 season at about to die Manor and then was semi forgotten about.

Hey Aldas et al. I'm not conversant with Nigel Mansel's junior career. I believe that he was 26 when he entered F1, and it took him eight years to finally win the F1 world drivers championships. His slow maturation also made him ready to win the Indy Car Championship the very next year. Sure, I believe that it was more common back then to enter F1 a bit older than it is today, but Mansel was a driver that also got onto the grid later than others around him at the time, and one who also took more time to take the championship. Today, people would be more likely to lose faith in a driver that would take so long. We are impatient. I think, as an aside, that Mick Schumacher could also be such a driver (he's shown some genuine merit more than once). Some people may ripen slowly, but still can ripen well. De Vries may enjoy a longer career in F1 than most people might guess. Nevertheless, fair points in your video. Even though F1 is an ultra-competitive sport where only the top 20 strongest learners and drivers in the world belong, I nevertheless post this comment with the effort to help the world to be more kind and merciful to others in order to help us see more of what is good in others, rather than what is bad. There is too much of the latter in YT comments and in the world in general. We love F1 because we enjoy it, so why not let's add kindness and benefit of the doubt to boost that enjoyment, shall we?
Is the 2017 F2 grid any better than 2019? In 2017 Leclerc's rivals were Markelov(P2), Rowland(P3), Ghiotto(P4), Latifi(P5) and Matsushita(P6). In 2019 De Vries' rivals were Latifi(P2), Ghiotto(P3), Sette Camara(P4), Aitken(P5) and Matsushita(P6)
Unknown is only for those who now watch F1 because of drive to survive. Those who actually know things about motorsport, he was very well-known, winning Formulla E and other titles
Be interesting to see if Alpha goes back to mixing it up in the mid field this year…they kinda owned that team p7 spot fighting for p6 most years …last year they finished 9th with 35 points…
The fact that Red Bull went after de vries instead of asking for albon back shows what they think of albon. They could’ve asked for albon back and de vires could’ve filled the seat a Williams. But here we are a Red Bull driver in a Mercedes and a Mercedes driver in a Red Bull.
If he keeps it on the road and score a few points he will definitely be there in 2024. Yuki needs a really impressive season to keep his foot on the door otherwise I see a rookie and nick for AT going forward.
I am so excited for this season because you've got the three rookies with something to prove, Nico coming back, Pierre v Ocon, Verstappen v Perez and if the car can get there, Hamilton v Russel. For De Vries I really hope he gets a bit of opportunity to at least rack up some points having waited so long for his F1 dream. Yuki really has to get in gear, pun intended, because if De Vries out drives him, I'm all but certain this will be his last season.
I don't think he's all that great, but I was still impressed by his ability to come in short notice and do as much as he could in the Williams. Interestingly enough, of all the past F2 champions since GP2 became F2, he wasn't the worst driver of the group statistically. That distinction goes to one Mick Schumacher.
I thought this a very fair assessment of his Junior career. he came unstuck in F2 with George Lando and Alex their other wise he would have won a year earlier and then he may have got into F1. It also highlights how Mick Schumacher , although he won F2, was really a lower standard than Nick when you look at the wins , points and competition.
what are you talking about, the 2020 f2 grid was wayy more stacked with talent than the 2019 grid. mick had the likes of illot, tsunoda, shwartzmann, and ticktum as his rivals, all of whom are easily more talented than de vries, who only had latifi as his title rival. mick won the title against those competitive rivals in his 2nd year, it took 3 f2 seasons for nyck to finish in the top 3 against uncompetive drivers. big difference

People undermine him for winning F2 in his 3rd year, but not a lot of people know that in 2017, he wasn't in a competitive car. His talent was kind of got wasted driving for Rapax and Racing Engineering. He still finished ahead of all his teammates despite changing seat half way through. So, he is kind of won the championship in his 2nd year.
He's definitely on my "one to watch" card this season along with Piastri. I firmly believe that if he does his job and performs well in Alpha Tauri, he could well end up being Checo's replacement at Red Bull when the time comes. I wish him nothing but the best in his debut season!
de vries is never going to red bull lmao, let's stick to reality here. de vries took 3 seasons to finish in the top 3 in f2 and against the most uncompetitive f2 grid since its inception, and isn't even a better driver than albon, who even beat him twice in the junior series: in gp3 as teammates and then in f2, never mind better than or an ideal replacement for checo
@@izzy3784 You do realise it's possible for drivers to improve as they get older and gain more experience, right? Lets see how he does this season, and we'll judge him based on his performances in the car AT giver him.
It’s sad that it took THIS much for him to get signed! He won F2! Then he was Formula E world champion! It was like what more did the young man have to do to get a seat?! He deserves this.
Nyck's counterpart in the 2 wheel paddock is definitely Esteve 'Tito' Rabat. In terms of talent, we can't really count him as the level of Marc Marquez or even Dani Pedrosa, just as you say that Nyck is not on the level of Charles, George, Lando, or Albono. But one thing stands out from these 2: hardword. Just as Nyck in F2, Tito's title in the 2014 Moto2 season was also considered by many as just luck due to how weak the grid was back then. Pol Espargaro and Scott Redding (the two title protagonist in 2013) had graduated to MotoGP, and in that 2013 season, Tito finished P3 in the final standings, so it was just clear that he will just easily cruise to the 2014 title with no serious challenger. Tito did get to MotoGP in 2016, aged 27, though his 5 season MotoGP campaign wasn't a successful one, filled with uncompetitive machinery, crashes, and just lack of raw talent.
I'm getting massive Damon Hill vibes from De Vries with the late joining and all. Depending on how he does this season there is a real possibility of him being at the top red bull seat in future years.
In my opinion Formula 2 championships are too heavily decided on reliability and not saying anything racist or abusive about other drivers on Twitch these days.
I'm realy looking forward, how Nyck is gonna perform, coming F1 saison. Going to AT was the best choice,he could make.He has taken up the advise of Max Verstappen,to call Helmut for a meeting, during a dinner after Monza.
I could be wrong but I think a multi year deal with Williams, assuming the dorilton investment means continuous improvement, would have been the way to go. I don't want to see him in limbo and underrated at alpha tauri. Then let go when the next big young prospect comes along because there's no seat at the red bull team.
Very interesting story. His rise at Monza was so exciting of a surprise that I’m really hoping for a great rookie season for him, for us, and it would be very good for the sport. Go Nick!!
As a Formula E fan, I think he'll be inconsistent and a bit of a rough diamond, basically like how Tsunoda has been. He's great some days, and mediocre in others, and that Monza race just so happened to be one of his good days. Since he's in a midfield team, its improbable that his good days and the car's good days will fully line up, so he'll probably have very infrequent points finishes, but he might also end up with another driver of the day. I think Tsunoda probably will get more points but not by a large amount, and that AlphaTauri will have their worst season under the AlphaTauri name.
Hard to know who’ll win at Alpha Tauri next year. If the car is a full on back marker I’d predict Tsnuoda to be the one that gets a 10th on a great day while De Vries gets like 12th and 13th far more often. If they’re closer though I think De Vries outscores through more results while Tsnuoda has the highest single result. Tsnuoda faster but less refined and consistent
I just watched one of your videos from 4 years ago, and I noticed a couple of things. You used to talk really fast (probably nerves), and your accent was different, the latter likely affecting your accent.
4:37 uhm nah that's not true m8, before Monza De Vries was already in talks with Williams to replace Latifi, it's just that after that race, more teams took interest in his services, like Red Bull. After a phone call to Marko, Nick had arrenged a meeting between the two of them and then the rest is history, fun fact it was Max that told Nyck to call Marko
I just see it as a weaker F1 grid in 2023 than 2022. I think Yuki will out perform Nick, although I think this will be AT last year as a team, I think Honda will take over in 2024 and WIlliams will be bought by Porsche.
I've been saying for 3 YEARS that nyck deserves an f1 seat and nobody gave a single fuck until monza when everyone jumped on the nyck hype train. I've been riding this hype train since 2019 babyyyyy!
I like De Vries but he is going to be a failure. His performance in Monza was just average. That car was very good on that track and he just drove it with enough skill to get the point that any average driver should get. The fact that he won an f2 championship where latifi finished 2nd says it all.
if nyck beats yuki this season it will be exit yuki and i can see it just happening that if perez doesn't perform there will be a full Dutch team within redbull in 2024

If De Vries beats Tsunoda & Checo doesn't perform well in Red Bull he could be promoted to a Red Bull seat in 2024. It would be an interesting scenario to see 2 Dutch drivers in same team.

This vid has surely aged
Aged well
Lots of talent in Indycar. Need to change the super license points
Most wanted man in F1..... second to Piastri
Not anymore
Very interesting story. His rise at Monza was so exciting of a surprise that I’m really hoping for a great rookie season for him, for us, and it would be very good for the sport. Go Nick!!
I wish that he at least wins one gp with alphatauri
Please use this music on all your videos, I just can't get tired of it
As a Formula E fan, I think he'll be inconsistent and a bit of a rough diamond, basically like how Tsunoda has been. He's great some days, and mediocre in others, and that Monza race just so happened to be one of his good days. Since he's in a midfield team, its improbable that his good days and the car's good days will fully line up, so he'll probably have very infrequent points finishes, but he might also end up with another driver of the day. I think Tsunoda probably will get more points but not by a large amount, and that AlphaTauri will have their worst season under the AlphaTauri name.
the man beat the goat in F2
Hard to know who’ll win at Alpha Tauri next year. If the car is a full on back marker I’d predict Tsnuoda to be the one that gets a 10th on a great day while De Vries gets like 12th and 13th far more often. If they’re closer though I think De Vries outscores through more results while Tsnuoda has the highest single result. Tsnuoda faster but less refined and consistent
.....and back to obscurity
don't let this distract you from the fact that his actual name is Hendrik Johannes Nicasius De Vries
I just watched one of your videos from 4 years ago, and I noticed a couple of things.
You used to talk really fast (probably nerves), and your accent was different, the latter likely affecting your accent.
amazing video
I'm not sure if mine is an accurate comparison, but is Nyck driving with Sergio Perez-like luck and timing?
4:37 uhm nah that's not true m8, before Monza De Vries was already in talks with Williams to replace Latifi, it's just that after that race, more teams took interest in his services, like Red Bull. After a phone call to Marko, Nick had arrenged a meeting between the two of them and then the rest is history, fun fact it was Max that told Nyck to call Marko
Wouldn't say he is the most wanted when max and Lewis would be but command a price tag out if the reach of half of the grid
Everyone saying abot nyck now…
Me who watched mclaren tooned 10+ years ago😂
what do you mean with unknown never watched formula E
The only reason i know him was from mclaren tooned
How is this man 27?!
Red Bull snatching him from the Mercedes family is a big win for them
🤣🤣🤣he’s just a shit crash hazard
P9 whilst vandoorne was p1 in a non gimmicky formula e season.
x1.25 way better speed speach ...
Umm... What? Debris?
You need a intro
"Unknown vs Most wanted"? Come on now, Aldas. Bullshit bait title = bullshit bait.
I think Nyck will sweep the floor with Yuki!
This did not age well...
I just see it as a weaker F1 grid in 2023 than 2022. I think Yuki will out perform Nick, although I think this will be AT last year as a team, I think Honda will take over in 2024 and WIlliams will be bought by Porsche.
not looking good so far😂😂😂
Who, what, debris??
"unknown"
I've been saying for 3 YEARS that nyck deserves an f1 seat and nobody gave a single fuck until monza when everyone jumped on the nyck hype train. I've been riding this hype train since 2019 babyyyyy!
I slightly disagree with you monza point. Imo, he ran really well at monza. Getting everything out of that aweful car.
And it will be funny when he cannot deliver this year .lol
I like De Vries but he is going to be a failure. His performance in Monza was just average. That car was very good on that track and he just drove it with enough skill to get the point that any average driver should get.
The fact that he won an f2 championship where latifi finished 2nd says it all.
I irrationally hate Latifi so much.
if nyck beats yuki this season it will be exit yuki and i can see it just happening that if perez doesn't perform there will be a full Dutch team within redbull in 2024
your vocal cadence makes it hard to watch your videos ngl
He should have been in the sport a lot earlier than this
He’s beating yuki
First
Not many like his attitude. In Holland he is NOT popular. Many prefer to see vettel one more your or Shumacher. He is very very unpopulair because of his intervieuws and teh way he things he is de best invention sinds firewood. Personaly I hope he fails. I do not like himand I am dutch.
firstf
Useless aldas
We knew him , except DTS fans
Is this another story about a poor kid that valiantly fought his way thru such tough diversity that it has defined him as a man? It’s amazing how all these broke guys become f1 drivers.
Ocon
did you even watch the video
DeVries is Not an unknown
If De Vries beats Tsunoda & Checo doesn't perform well in Red Bull he could be promoted to a Red Bull seat in 2024. It would be an interesting scenario to see 2 Dutch drivers in same team.
