    One thing from the 90’s that ISN’T back in is the thicker acrylic nails. It was why I quit going. So glad the product has improved and I can do it on my own because I know what I like and many times it’s hard to convey that to others. Not taking away from what nail techs do because you guys are artists and THAT part I will never master but as for simple styles I can do them and that’s thanks to videos like this and others. Much appreciated! You guys do ROCK!

    I’m new to the nail drill still could you tell me the difference between the sanding bans and the ceramic ones? Is there a difference or just preference? Love your videos and how you teach us thank you 😊👍✨❤️

    • @lakaylabushnell2525
      @lakaylabushnell2525 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They do not file the same. Sanding bands can be used on the natural nail and enhancements, but ceramic and carbide (metal) bits should never be used on a natural nail. They shave product off rather than sand it off

    • @mjaydelacruz8496
      @mjaydelacruz8496 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lakaylabushnell2525 that’s absolutely right. The ceramic but it’s cut like a car by bit. We never use a carbide bit on a natural nail. You do use a medium grit arbor band on the natural nails. 😊😉🙌🏼💅🏻✨ Thank you so much! I actually read her comment wrong! Yikes! 🙃

  • @sierrakamroyeva6916
    @sierrakamroyeva6916 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    To remove lifting with our efile, would we do that afterwards after we removed the shine with the arbor band? Or would we have to remove shine/ buff the nail under where it was lifting, so use the arbor band again?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We recommend using your Safety Bit-Coarse first to remove the lifting. By doing this first, it is easier to see lifting rather than trying to do it after you remove shine. Once you have removed the lifting, then you can go back with your arbor band and prep/remove shine from the natural nail/fill area.

      Me too! I'm a licensed manicurist in the state of Maryland but have been out of the business a long time myself. So much has changed. YN is always the best place to catch up on products and techniques. Believe it or not I just started using gel polish 4 months ago. I had been doing dip powder on my own nails for about 4 years but it was past time to learn hard gel and gel polish. I went to school around 1984 when my daughter was 3. I was the first person Aaron's Academy of Beauty in Waldorf Maryland took for just manicuring. They were so busy teaching cosmetology I sat under a hair dryer and pretty much had to teach myself. But I love doing nails, I've been trying to get back into it for a few years now. How about you? Are you going to get back into it? I'm 63 and retired so I'd love to just do more friends and family at home. ❤️💅

    ❤️ Mjay and all her great tips! I actually tried the first speed technique in salon the other day after I watched this video (the first time because I’m obsessed), and I am pleased to say, that I did that fill FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, in 30 mins! I really didn’t think I would ever accomplish that! I was so, so excited about it! Prepping the nail with a sanding band first and removing the remaining color while finish filing is a GAME CHANGER!!! And combining that technique with using Go Time is a killer time saving combo! Thank you so much!!! Much love and respect for all of you over at YN. ❤️

    The first tip i did on myself last time because i was tired and it did safe time. I doubted if it was ok to do, i use gel.
    Also nice because you have the shape guiding you like you said. Oehh that is the perfect summer red, hope i can find it in The Netherlands! No topcoat needed but is it ok to do it anyways? I work with gel only, what long lasting, high shine gel topcoat is best? Bought so many reds but they are not the bright red i am looking for. Is it orange based? A pink based red is also on my hunt, not find it yet. Love the Safety bit! YN you taught me so much and your products are 👌🏼

    actually I am shocked at how expensive you charge for a service you mentioned on another video : 145 for rebalance and 180 for a new set???
    Incredible! in my country, a set would cost 70 or 80€ and rebalance 50€
    So in your country, let's say if a lady wants to get her nails done twice a month she would spend almost 400$??? We only get 1500€\month which is a good average paycheck, so almost one-third of my paycheck would go to nails??? Just how rich are you in the States??? Incredible!
    And not only that, the lady must have her nails done at the speed of lightning as you are teaching faster techniques to work!!! pure stress instead of relaxing with the feeling of being pampered ... I'm not a nail tech, by the way, I just do my own nails myself because I am an artist and I feel this is another way of expressing myself artistically...

    Although your hair is extremely beautiful...one speed hack I can add is to have your hair tied up or in a bun. That way you're not having to move it out of your face all the time, since a nail tech is constantly changing positions! I know my hair, which is similar to hers, is always getting in the way so I always have it put up. It probably saves my at least 5 minutes for each appt.

    • @mjaydelacruz8496

      Swipe is a dehydrator. For your product to stay on properly on everyone. You will have to change the PH balance. Do you the same technique with gel? Only filing the back and then fill, and what if they have full coverage colour?

    • @mjaydelacruz8496
      @mjaydelacruz8496 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you do it the same way with gel. If it’s a cover color. You just have to use the same color you originally used a they match! 😉😊💅🏻✨🤩

    Does tip #1 still work if I'm using a different color to fill?

    • @youngnailsinc

      if you are using a colored acrylic you need to fill with the same color or completely take it off if you are changing the color

    One more question… What does she mean when she says change the pH balance with swipe? She always does that but I don’t know why we wanna change the pH. I thought we were just dehydrating the nail and cleaning it with that. What does the pH balance do?

    • @vatishacarney2270
      @vatishacarney2270 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty much dehydrates and cleanses without drying the nail out too much. Like if you were to use acetone for that step, eventually the nail bed would get too dehydrated and cause lifting so you want the pH of the nail bed to be just right. Hope that makes sense lol

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Swipe is a cleanser and dehydrator so it will pull off any excess oils & contaminants but it adjusts the ph level during cleansing. In general, the nail plate tends to be slightly acidic, so balancing that out will give better adhesion.

    Why haven't Melissa use topcoat after the red polish

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      She is using one of our go time gel polish colors. Our go-time line is a one step gel polish meaning it doesn't require a base or top coat because they are built in. You can use a top coat if you prefer but it's not necessary.

    Wow, I really need it this video. Thank you so much. I like the way she used the electronic file to share the sides of the nail to make it square. I would like to do so too, specially when there is an infills and the nail has to be cut down and reshape into another shape. It feels for me that with the normal file it take years to reshape from square to almond or to oval. Thank u it looks easy but in real life is a bit scary no to cut your clients with the electronic file on the sides to reshape. I love you all thank u

      When filing the sides with the electric file… don’t put pressure or very little pressure. The bit will do the work for you! 😉😊🙌🏼✨💅🏻🤍🤩
