    “How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
    Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
    Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
    Welcome to the Young Nails family!

    I lost my confidence doing nails, life happened during training and it did damage me.
    I got in a bad relationship, lost all confidence and passion for nails, listening to this is so refreshing and encouraging.

    I love the fact that she said "depending on the cuticles" in response to him saying it only takes 1-2 minutes for her to prep. We have to remember that most beginner nail tech clients have..."rough cuticles" and will take longer to prep. But I'm still trying to get down to 5 minutes...

    I'm 57 and have been doing nails since 2001. I love learning. I have learned a lot from you all. I watch you and all the You Tubers that do nails. I just love learning. I don't post my nail pics because my daughters have both told me I don't post my nails correctly. Thank you, Young Nails family. I enjoy learning every day ❤

    I'm 26, starting training later in the year, 4 days a week and I am so excited. I want to soak up everything like a sponge but I think me being a perfectionist is what will trip me up. I can already see myself taking wayyy too much time on everything because I don't want to fail and I don't want my nails to look like I just started learning how to do nails lol I know that I'm not going to be as nearly as good as I am in a few years and I need to remind myself I have plenty of time for growth and learning new things and developing better skills to make beautiful nails.

    Thank you! I needed this video at this time. I’m a year into this journey coming from being an Esthetician and starting at 55 so, it’s definitely been a learning curve and a challenge to not beat myself up for doing something new and not being “perfect” right away.
    I will remember that if your client is happy that’s perfection!

    In school (about 2 years ago) I told
    My teacher about cuticle bits and she told me they didn’t exist. I wasn’t a know it all but she clearly had been out of touch with recent methods of doing nails. It’s frustrating when you as a student is more up to date than your teacher. She was nice and we never had issues but it was annoying.

    The hardest part for me in nails learning so far is how to cut the cuticle and using efile cause I always nervous of cutting or burning them

  • @a7744ry
    @a7744ry ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Makes sense to use products you like straight away, and use electric file straight away. I work at a salon that doesn't use electric files even on acrylic new sets or fill, and I want to do acrylic but without e-file it's intimidating

    i totally agree! even as an expert in your own specific field i feel like you must always remain teachable. i was one of those people who thought they knew everything because i had experience in nursing field and knew a lot of medical people and it wasn't u til i humbled myself and shut my mouth that i was able to excel at being a nurse but to this day i still learn something every day and then he tried to do the same with learning nails. always remaining teachable will ensure success at everything in life!

  • @meen0ru
    @meen0ru ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is making me feel pretty good!! Cos I’ve kept my mind open to learning different skills, just dove in to using the e-file even though I was scared (a sanding band and a couple minutes could be your nail prep time, just sayin!), and I think it’s been fun using a bunch of different products: acrylic, gel, polygel, gel-x, hard gel. I have my favorites, sure, but I understand that different people like different techniques. Cos my focus has been having fun while giving people cute nails that they can be happy about. That’s all I want. And I think the most important skill for me, other than getting better at the technical side, has been relationship building! That and I had to realize that not everyone wants kawaii magical girl nails like I do, lololol.
    Your videos have taught me so much and I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the community you’ve built up and continue to support. Thanks to everyone at Young Nails!! 💜

    This advice is awesome and I'm so glad I watched this. I've seen the girls in school speak to the "I'm only going to specialize in this area.." and that's all they practice working on. Why paint yourself in a box and lose potential clients? Keeping your options always open, be open minded, learn everything you possibly can....great things will always follow those who seek to learn.

    I went and got my license a year ago. I invested money I didn't have and started doing nails at home. My mom was the only client I had so I gave up and thought that having no clients was a sign I should give up. 4 months later I got pregnant and being high risk gave me a ton of time and I started investing it in learning and now I regained confidence to try again. Thank you for teaching me and keeping me company

    What I find when helping most new nail techs or new business owners is that they don’t want to put in the hours to build a clientele. As a salon business owner, you have to work the hours. You don’t want to work to build a clientele. Once you build your clientele, you can shape your schedule. But you will still need to work some hours that you don’t want to work.

    What’s the best booking software for a nail salon? Thank you so much for your videos. 😊

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are many different booking sites and it's hard to recommend what would be best for your business. What we would recommend is to first figure out what features you are looking for. Do you need just the booking or do you want other features like online booking for your clients to access, taking credit cards for payments and deposits, sending confirmation and reminder texts/emails, preparing financial reports, booking/scheduling for multiple technicians etc. Once you figure out what specifics you need, you could post on our FB Community group and ask for recommendations as there are many people who would have more experience with all of the different apps.

    Hello Habib and Tracey
    The both of you have put the light at the end of my tunnel. I am learning on my own how to be a nail artist for me, my self and I, if I make my nails so good that people are going to willing to try my technique and they come again and again then that you’ll be the cherry on my cake. So far I have one failure after the aether with hand filling, can’t make all nails look the same, with e - filling, haven’t left any nail on my nail bed, with acrylic, I make them a bit more softer now but my beads are bigger than my nail size and with gel my guess will be I made them too thick and they don’t cure, with builder in the bottle gel got allergic and my finger tips got harden and itchy, and the blood started to appear as well and my fingers and up with small … bubbles? I try to make small nails and when I succeed then I will concentrate to make them bigger but hey I know that I am at the bottom and there is no hope and I have to except some professional help, until this video of yours . Thank you

    I feel like this is a more current issue but what I had to learn for the practical didn’t make sense..example blending a tip to the natural nail and polish over it had to be seamless..who in reality still gets this done?
    Also I didn’t think I knew everything but the material is a little outdated..I tried to discuss cuticle bits and my teacher told me there are no bits for cuticles..
    I wasn’t trying to be difficult but those are examples of things that just don’t apply to how we do nails now.

    Exactly 100%. Everybody will mess up at some point no matter how professionally trained you are or not just like is it all of us or human we error! 🫶🏾🎨💅🏽👊🏾💕
    Just keep in mind that growing learning, keeping that going, sometimes involves putting in some extra work and education some more even if you think you’ve learned everything extra education, ongoing education there’s truly nothing wrong with that!
    And truly what you’re passionate about and what you want to go in the career as doing is truly up to you and then we can make that choice for you. You do what you’re passionately wanting to do for your business and your career. Everyone else will always have a different outlook, or a different way of doing their business And I truly believe if you do not want to do all kinds of different nail sets as in gel, acrylic press on the stone, etc. truly what field you want to go and is the field that you choose and if you want to make sure you’re educated know how to do oh Facets of files, then that’s OK too but if you don’t want to do every type of nail, you don’t have to if you pacifically wanna go into the field of acrylics and do that is your profession then that’s fine you do that, but always be Michael that we all are human and we all can era make mistakes Even if we know an educated about something that we love to do and have been trained, there’s always room for growth and education some more 💕
