I got the sony ZV-E10 for very practical reasons. I wanted something light, interchangeable lenses and something suitable for Vlogging. I believe these 3 reasons makes the ZV-E10 a very attractive entry level camera.
In my case minimum focus distance was a key factor. The camera also needed to be light weight as it is mounted on a suction cup mount attached to a mirror. My current setup is a Sony ZV1 with a Zoom H1n external microphone 👍
Agreed on the need and not needed although I do believe you need a camera that allows you to see yourself as your recording. Very few of us, especially while starting, have an external display to connect to our camera. Great info here as people look to upgrade although I’m still a huge proponent of encouraging people to begin by using the selfie camera on their mobile phone. As Sean says - “kick fear in the face and press record!” Great video .. thanks for presenting options without making everyone believe they need better equipment to succeed on TH-cam.
My main focus is to buy a camera at least recording in 1080P with auto focus and good picture quality in low light. That's what's nice to have when you're buying, otherwise no need to spend money on an extra camera when you can do everything on your smartphone.
@@momoney5279 I am using Canon m6 -it's mark 1 without 4K - with 22mm lens and I'm loving this camera. It's a year older camera than m50 but most of the features work amazing just like that.
Personally I shoot with a Panasonic GX85 presently and will be using my old A7ii soon with the dummy battery method. Both cameras have the least impressive battery life but with the dummy, no issues. Great content
At 00:37 what’s that screen thing? Need a flip out screen or self monitor or smartphone with self recording to ensure you look proper in frame. It will be awful to film a long commentary only to learn you need to redo it due to looking odd.
I always use the latest iPhone and lightening Rode mic. I only shoot mechanic videos 4K 24fps. iMovie editor. Very very basic stuff. Still learning. I wouldn’t know how to use anything else🤷♂️

Same, and then my second option is the zve10 but it doesn’t have as good battery life or good 1080p colors like the m50 has. Also stabilization is better on m50 so I’m stuck deciding
I just bought a Sony about e10 yesterday and I’m thinking about returning it today for a zv1 because of the the stabilization. I need a camera that I can just use. Gimbals cost start at $300 and getting extra lenses are $400 plus. I’m so confuse on what to buy. I’ve watch so many comparisons.
Question? I'm a complete novice when it comes to these type of cameras. When it comes to Bluetooth, can I download video from the camera to my phone? I don't use a computer, I edit all my videos in an app on my phone then upload to TH-cam from there. I would like to ad a camera that I can pan and zoom with for better quality b-roll footage, but if I can't transfer the videos it would be pointless.

Just buy the new iPhone with as large of memory as you can get. It shoots 4K, RAW, probably less than most mid grade cameras, record almost all the same modes, easy to get, easy financing (Apple Card) and all the accessories are going to be a fraction.

You can make your thumbnail using the camera and free apps, and then immediately upload to TH-cam AND track analytics with the TH-cam Studio app. Compared to a thousand or much more for a used camera with few accessories and that’s it? Yeah. Better deal.
@@wm4311 Think about it. iPhone gives you 4K footage, microphone, thumbnail creation, free editing software, mobile uploads of videos from anywhere, and live analytics, and that comes for as little as 429 for the cheapest phone. Compared to a camera with accessories AND a computer to edit, AND a microphone? Yes. It’s a great place to start for sure.

If you are just making family and travel videos for TH-cam then just use your phone with a good gimbal and get a 360 camera. Don't bother with the big heavy camera cuz you will end up leaving it in the car. How you take the videos and how you edit the videos are more critical than using expensive cameras.

I have watched lots of videos on best camera for TH-camrs. Several by ThinkMedia - you and others. I have yet to find one that linked it to the type of TH-cam videos I need to do for my channel. I work in a garage woodworking shop and video me performing CNC task and other woodworking tasks. I have a Nikon D5100 and it is a struggle for me to keep the shots in focus as my sander moves from one end of a project to another or my CNC routers moves around the bed. Also the ability to get wide enough if I try to get up close to the shot. I have heard that the Nikon Auto focus is not one of the best. I am not an expert so I keep watching you tube videos to find what might work for me. All of the videos so far focus on shooting youtube in the house, office, or walking around outside. Do you have any videos I could watch for filming in some place like a garage workshop that requires action shots across the length of the shaop?

The back camera is better than the selfie camera. Hence you’d want to record with the back camera. However, you cannot not see yourself when filming with your back camera. And the mirror fixes this issues by allowing you to see the screen. Search ‘selfie mirror smartphone’ for more information.

You should at a minimum get an APS-C camera. The mic preamps on the ZV-1 are really good, but not as good as a bigger camera. You also may need to shoot in a low light situation, the ZV-1 will not do well with that. You also want better video and image quality, an APS-C camera will do much better. The ZV-1 is a vlogging camera, or a Tik Tok/Instagram camera. You can make great videos, but for a little bit more you can do A LOT MORE.

I’ve considered upgrading to a true video camera, but I believe for what I do, my smartphone is fine for now. Great information though.
The watch preview setup is gold! No need for the mirror attachment but wow preview would be small.

The zv1 has a full wide to zoom range at f2.8 and 4k so that’s like interchangeable lenses

Yes!! Most TH-camrs don’t need a high end camera. If you are just sitting at a desk talking, you don’t need most of what they are selling.

Eh,, don't want to be rude but I'll decide what I need for youtube. If I'm a sports youtuber, I do need slo mo. If I'm a bug youtuber, that micro lens is going to make or break my channel. Give us the features of cameras and what they're good for, don't tell us what we need and don't need.
