    Thank God for the half dozen or so of you guys that do the Mirage (and G4) videos. I learn from each and every single one. Always know in advance what to expect. All your viewers are thankful for these. Who doesn't want to know EXACTLY what tools they'll need and watch a good part of the process. Good job!

    I hope I never have to do this, but if I do at least now I know it's not an impossible job for a DIY'er like me. Big fan here! Thanks again!

    Any programming involved after the used transmission is installed? I have a 17 G4 that I keep maintained but i suspect the CVT will probably be its weak point.

      No programming required. I've only installed used cvt's and haven't had any issues with them. They're pretty hit or miss as far as longevity, there's a handful of these in the fleet with 400-540k kms and still running the original cvt's.

    Hey friend
    I take the transmission out to put the new one
    But to put it back
    Do you know the pounds of pressure in the torque converter?
    And the transmission to the angine

    • @turdpailsandtrails
      @turdpailsandtrails  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The torque converter bolts= 36ft-lbs. +/- 2ft-lbs
      Engine to transmission bolts= 17ft-lbs. +/- 2ft-lbs.

    Hey don't you use the Valvoline cvt fluid for your fleet? i'm going to be switching to it for the first time soon.

    • @turdpailsandtrails
      @turdpailsandtrails  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, I just use whatever cheap universal cvt fluid that meets the J4 spec.

    Were is the secondary speed sensor for transmisso.

    • @turdpailsandtrails
      @turdpailsandtrails  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's at the top of the transmission, just behind the upper mount. It sits above the secondary clutch.

    is it worth getting a CVT Mirage?
    im in market for buying a new car, and the Mirage caught my eye for it ..
    currently only had manuals

      They can last a long time. Test drive one, the new ones drive nicer than the older models mostly due to programming changes.
      They are reliable and can last a long time if taken care of, there’s always some that don’t last but low mileage parts are easy to find cause these thing are written off so easily.
      They discontinued the 5speeds in North America already and there’s talk of canceling the car in the next couple years altogether so don’t wait too long.
      Ive been maintaining a fleet of Mirages for 9 years and they’re pretty bullet proof for the most part. They’re slow but I average 40mpg without trying and can keep up with traffic out here just fine.

    Hi. does it need to be programmed afterwards?

    • @turdpailsandtrails
      @turdpailsandtrails  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven’t had to reprogram them after replacement. There is a relearn procedure that can be done to make it relearn shifting quicker iirc.

    So ive started this mission with my car, its all in place now. but for some reason my wiring harness seems tight, but i cant seem to figure out why, you wouldnt have any pics of how the wiring harness is suppose to sit do you?

    • @turdpailsandtrails
      @turdpailsandtrails  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Which part of the harness?
      I don’t have any pics handy but could take some of the front and post them for you. Could get some of the rear tomorrow.

      @@turdpailsandtrails pretty much the whole thing, both my o2 sensors dont reach the plugs, and i cant figure the right path that the loom needs to go, i can see the clips that need to go onto brackets and stuff, but for some reason the loom is so tight, i will probably end up unplugging all the plugs and starting again to be honest

      @@Popo2191 yeah, best to unplug and start over. Something isn’t right. I took some pics of what I could see from the top. Can get more if you need. What year is yours, the upper O2 wiring is a little different between 15-17. Cvt wiring

    Nice! Do you consider this an easy(ish) job?

    • @turdpailsandtrails
      @turdpailsandtrails  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Compared to a lot of other vehicles I've worked on, these are pretty easy. It helps being the only person that works on this fleet so I don't typically have to deal with other mekanics stripped bolts and other fun surprises.

    • @stevenpollard5171
      @stevenpollard5171 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would call it a big job for a home mechanic like me. At least the CVT is not huge and heavy. It is much easier and faster if you have an impact wrench and power tools like he does. Otherwise, you are grunting and busting knuckles. Use a jack with wood boards under the trans, or rent a trans. jack. And make sure the new trans slides into place lined up completely with a bang. Then put in bolts and tighten. Do not just get it close and then pull it in place by tightening the bolts.
