Ik volg Khatia al jaren en ze is echt echt de beste. Ze speelt niet alleen bloedmooi maar ze is het ook nog eens! Ze speelt 75% van de tijd met haar ogen dicht, wat een vakvrouw. You are absolutely correct. This is what sets her performances apart from those to which she is compared online, say. Of course, her level of “complete” performance is unmatched, from her phyisical beauty, to the dresses she selects which are stunning, to her physical conduct as she walks toward the audience, acknowledges the conductor and concertmaster and the audience, and sits. All like a carefully scripted performance. And THEN …. Her musicality. Listen to her phrasing, how she coordinates back and forth between the various orchestral sections, matching dynamics, style, tempo, phrasing, everything. And her level of enjoyment radiates to every member of the orchestra and every member of the audience, elevating this distinctly human performance to perfection. I am in absolute awe of it all!!!

I’ve seen and heard just about everything posted by or about Khatia, and I admit I’m a fan, though I’m also a fan of many other amazing pianists. But this is the first time I’ve watched a soloist walk onstage and been bowled over by a dress. That dress exudes taste and expense, but in the service of beauty. And it’s not what you‘d call revealing; just beautiful. Oh, and her playing was great, too!
