I am a retired chef. I am classically trained in traditional French cooking, which I learned from culinary school followed by an apprenticeship. And I have to say, your Mother's mastery of cooking techniques, and attention even to very fine details would put her on par with a professional chef's cooking skills. I was expecting her to be good, but even with my high expectations I was impressed.
I think that watching Japanese people cooking is one of my favourite things in the world. I love how she cares about nutrition and the origin of the ingredients but also about colour and composition. It is well-ballanced, beautiful and meaningful. Arigatou gozaimasu.
@nadew.02 that must be delicious. I have never tried Tunisian food, but I once met really nice Tunisian women and we showed each other how we dance. I did a bit of flamenco from Spain and they did their dance and it was really cool how it was similar at times.
Your mum was very good at explaining what she was doing and why. I really learned somethings I want to try. Please thank her for taking part in your videos! I hope we get more like this. ❤
How respectful you are when you say forty years of homemaking experience! I have never noticed somebody saying years of experience on housemaking job. So, people say, I have this much experience in blah blah blah field but not housemaking. This gentleman totally changed the concept of stereotypical housemaking. I also love the tradition of Japanese people praying before eating. It felt so good to see this topic this way. More power to you and your mom!
I am your new subsciber from the Philippines. Your mom cooks the best ! Love it😋So love the food its so healthy❤️I like how the salmon was cooked. Nutritionally balanced.👍🏼
Yes, I would enjoy watching your mother cook again. Hopefully simple dishes as I am in the US and may find getting some of the ingredients difficult to find. I would also like to see how she pickles and firments. I love her explanations as to how and why she does things. That was very helpful. Please tell her thank you from me. ❤❤❤
That is such a respectful and beautiful way to address a homemaker... 40 years experience in homemaking! In my country, homemakers are casually refereed to as housewives. As if they do nothing. Their entire life, maintaining a home, ensuring everyone is fed, is healthy, things are organized, means nothing.
In our language the concept of housewife would literally sound like mistress, less often also - mother of the house. In our language these words include both work and motherly care.
What is bad about the word "housewife"? It's work around the house performed by the wife. Nowhere in the word is anything about doing nothing, I suspect you might've connected it to the term "lazing around the house" but that's got nothing to do with the word. It has no negative connotations.
@@okuu5091 Do you belong to the same country as me? Have you met and talked to the same people as I did? Did you see all the couples I observed since childhood? Have you been a part of all discussions around gender roles that I've had with friends, relatives, colleagues over the years? I clearly stated 'in my country'. I didn't say I find this a negative or degrading word.

Please thank you your mother for taking time, energy and love to shared with us all global fans. Loved her kitchen - big and so clean. Bravo! She lives in Japan or in US?
A beautifully presented cooking vlog with your mums experience ❤️. It was interesting learning at the same time 😀. Thanks for sharing 👍 and greetings from England 🇬🇧 Simon and Beth ❤🙋
I’m soooo obsessed with your videos 🤩 it’s the best thing I’ve found to watch every day and all day long. Never get tired of watching (even the same ones I watched already) such joy and renovating vibe 😌🥰. Thank you so MACHAAA! 🙏🏻😌🇯🇵
I’m from Croatia. My mom taught me how to cook traditionally but she also taught me Japanese way and macrobiotic cooking. Even though she never left Croatia, she took real effort to learn how to cook Japanese cuisine, and mind you, back in the 80s, 90s, when the information wasn’t so accessible. I was lucky to visit Japan two times, and each time I must admit, I prefer to eat at my friends homes because their mothers cooked soooo good! This was a lovely masterclass, I think I’m gonna browse all of your channel for more and more authentic tips. Thank you and your mom 💜 とても感謝しています
In my culture housewife is called (Rabbat Bayt =ربة بيت) meaning literally goddess or the owner. Love to see the most difficult job being cherished in your culture as well. Love and Peace🇵🇸💚
Your mother is lovely! Thank you for sharing her with us. I hope you do have more lessons on cooking. I am a chef and always interested in broadening my horizons.
I just came across your video watched it for the first time And I’m a subscriber instantly I really love the way your mother explains things and that you leave the English subtitles on the bottom of the screen long enough so that I can read what is going on and I can also see in the picture what she’s doing So many times these type of videos throw the words up on the screen so fast that you don’t get a chance to read what’s going on and look at the video at the same time So thank you for that I look forward to seeing all the videos you can possibly produce Your mother looks like a fantastic cook And thank you so much for those beautiful recipes Please don’t stop !
I would love to see more cooking and recipes from Japan. I love Japanese food but there seems to be so many steps! It’s nice to see it in the videos and makes me hungry! Thank you for your wonderful channel.
Wow, I could watch you and your mom cooking all day! I love japanese food so much (cooking and eating :3) but there is nothing like mamas way to do it. I would really love to see more from your moms kitchen stories
Thank you for sharing your mother’s cooking with us. I don’t have any request, but I’d love to learn more. I’ve been trying to use cook books and recipes, but I never can quite get it right. Thank you again for sharing!

Thank you for showing a real homemade Japanese mom dishes. As I was born in Ukraine and lived in America for 30 and being a mom for many years my culinary basics are more like European and American. I also experiment with cuisine from other cultures. Japanese cuisine was a big passion for me for a few years. America has a money-making culture. If you stay home, you're not making money. That is why "housewife" carries such a stigma.
Nothing like a home-cooked meal with love and care from Mum (a very important member of the household).
