    This video makes it so much clearer. I was scratching my head at the printed instructions. Seeing a visual of the install makes it less daunting. Thanks for this. Can't wait to get this installed on my Taco.

    This is the Best of the Best; they have so many add-ons and accessories; you can't top that! I have just ordered mine for a 2007 F150 8foot bed when nobody else had anything similar or available! GREAT JOB GENTLEMEN!

    Just installed mine today with the aid of this video. Very informative and easy to follow. The only complaint I have is the audio is difficult to hear. Otherwise outstanding!

    Great, informative video. Got my soft topper and installed it in under 45 minutes, super easy. It’s made of great, sturdy material, I was very impressed. I love my soft topper!

      The instruction document isn't as intuitive, IMO.... this video makes it much better.

    Just got my topper and had the same issue with the rail snaps not aligning. After wrestling with it for an hour in the sun and even with my wife’s help, we couldn’t get the last two driver and passenger side snaps to line up. I was worried about breaking something with all the downward pressure I had to apply.
    So, I decided to do some QC of my own. I measured center-to-center on the rail snaps and compared them to the topper snaps. Sure enough, they didn’t match up. The snaps were misaligned by about 1/2 in give or take. This seems to be an assembly issue on their part.
    To fix it, I unscrewed the front two driver and passenger side snaps, re-drilled the holes with a 1/8 inch drill bit to align with the topper, screwed the snaps back on the rail, and voilà-problem solved.
    Hope this helps!

    Good job I only saw one mistake the open end of the hook for the safety strap to the back of the truck the sharp part the open-end should be towards the inside of the truck that way if it gets super windy like where I live the hook cant rip The canvas

    Should hear me swearing like a sailor here, trying to get the rear snaps to reach! If I ever get this thing snapped on, I am never ever going to want to unsnap it to roll up the sides safari style. Any tips? I am solo. I know another set of hands would be great.

      Hair dryer to warm it up

    • @chrisbrunk5541
      @chrisbrunk5541 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jesus I just went through this literally minutes ago. I got all but one snapped...the rear right corner. It is EXTREMELY tight. The hair dryer idea is good but I've had it for a couple weeks now so I would think it would be stretched and somewhat loosened up by now.

    • @dangrussdan8914
      @dangrussdan8914 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I just got all of mine snapped in, also very tight. For those reading in the future - tighten the 4 pull straps, multiple times and very tight. When you do that, it’ll be much better.

      @@duffweldThanks so much for the hairdryer tip. I put the top on today in 45 degree temp and the hairdryer is what did the trick. All of a sudden the fabric started stretching and I was able to get the snaps fastened!

    • @RichardJohnson-qr5rn
      @RichardJohnson-qr5rn 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's been below 60 F and I cannot stretch the topper to fit. So I bought a space heater and put it inside the truck bed and threw a blanket over the Softtopper. The heat softens the topper such that I can stretch it and have all but 2 snaps together. The remaining snaps are the front on the driver's side and the back one on the passenger's side. I am fairly sure I will be able to get those last two tomorrow.

    If I’m removing this whole system from one truck to another is it just a matter of undoing the bed rail clamps and moving it over to another vehicle?

  • @MarkAnderson-ym6xx
    @MarkAnderson-ym6xx 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

    So the forward end closest to the back of the cab is actually secured inside the bed? Does this not encourage rain to come in at that location?

      Apply some heat with a hair dryer to loosen up the canvas or let it sit in the sun and it will eventually stretch. Also, I lowered the pin in the bracket to the lowest point and it helped a lot. Hope this helps.

    Your instructions that come with the softopper are different from the video!!! Your video says align the rails flush with the inside wall of the truck bed while the paper instructions say to align it with the front side. The picture clearly shows the thing being aligned to the outside? Which is it???

    • @minimalistgecko4867
      @minimalistgecko4867 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not to be a trouble, but I noticed the same thing, I also noticed a bit of water got in the first day I set it up, due to the fact that it's too far back. I additionally noticed that it's not 1/2" from the inside bed closer to the cab. I will have to adjust my next day off, the good thing is, it can be adjusted!

    Is there any way to protect it from being stolen?

    • @mikeatv
      @mikeatv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      its not worth stealing

    • @KoreyAtterberry
      @KoreyAtterberry ปีที่แล้ว +1

      old comment, but I just got mine. A tailgate can be stolen in 10 seconds with no tools. Put a hose clamp around one of the mounts and it's now a 2 minute 1 tool job.
      To take just the topper, you'd have to unsnap the snaps and pull the pins at the pivot. Zero tools. To steal the rails they'd need a wrench for the clamps. So I think if you secured the pins and the clamps (maybe replace the hex bolts with something more obscure) you could slow someone down and reduce risk.

    Do you have one with clear sides or clear windows?

    • @Softopper
      @Softopper  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Pierre! We do offer all of our tops with clear windows. However, we don't offer any of our truck tops with side windows. The vinyl that is used for the windows can be vulnerable in the cold, and those side panels are sewn into the top and not easily replaced. The front and the rear windows for trucks are easily removed and inexpensive to replace. Our SUV tops do come with side windows, and that is only because those vehicles have the Softopper over the passenger compartment as well. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
