  • I expanded the 18gr pellet comparison test between the H&N , AA and JSB to 50 meters , but the wind decided to play havoc. I will redo the test in calm wind one day, for now I have to live with the results, there was a surprising winner, although the difference at 50m was a mere 1mm.

    Air Arms pellets and JSB pellets are exactly the same. They literally take pellets straight off the JSB production line and put an Air Arms sticker on the tin. So whichever batch of whichever brand shoots best, chuck brand loyalty out the window and grab them:)

      Hello Matt, is it the same thing with the FX pellets?

    • @peteralexben
      @peteralexben 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      airarms, do have pellets swagers exlusief used for the airarms brand ,fx also are made a little bit different ,the weight is not the same , jsb makes pellets for more brands . for example cometa spain. if you sorted out clean the pellets .and size them ,you will have better grouping ,because it depends on size form and weight . to get the speed so close together as possible. because every bullet is falling in the target

      Hi Matt! Doubt that this will be answered but I'll give it a shot.
      Are you sure about that? I'm well aware that you have more experience and are knowledgeable in the matter and you are in contact with all these manufacturers but it was stated in few occasions that AirArms have their own set of dies for their pellets which JSB use when making AA pellets. I understand that it's mostly about the batch you buy but just wanted to clarify it the ""AA's own die set" is a fact or just a rumour. Thnx!

    You keep surprising with your videos gert!
    My pellet of choice, before I gave up pellets intirely, were the AA (16 and 18gr) by far. Extremely accurate.
    Now a bit of a shock statement: Don't bother with bent skirts, they DO NOT affect the shot.
    I did that experiment several times, where I bent the skirts on purpose by hand, and you know what? ... they are as accurate as intact ones. What matters is not the skirt, is the head. Faulty heads are responsible fot the flyiers, not the skirts.
    The skirts are actually ''unbent'' by the liner strangulation along with the air pressure behind them...
    Keep it up my friend!

    What did I get out of this , cross wind is not your friend , especially when it gusts inconsistently ! On another note , I am revisiting all of my (unregulated) PCPs for pellet accuracy , “for a beginner “ and without a chronograph and documenting to determine that window you have on a close consistent shot count is a waste of your time picking the right pellet for your barrel ! Tip to first time PCP buyers , get a regulated PCP or convert your old PCP with an after market regulator conversion !

    • @peteralexben
      @peteralexben 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes ,a close as possible speed from shot to shot is a pre . pellets that are consistent made of the right weight and size,clean straight barrel with the twist needed, good crown .a shot to shot same hammer blow and a precise regulator .like a huma,a strong stock thats fit you and a glasbreaking trigger. al can be made, the rest is to the shooter and weather

    I was wondering what would happen if you did the tests at a higher velocity say between 850-900fps. Then the 15.89gr at setting 3, and I felt you were getting better results. My crown loves the 21.14gr H&N at 860-880
    Great Video

      Speed up to a point on diabolo pellets without sacrificing a good group could help , if your gun can shoot slugs you are better off with speed and this pellet design to buck the wind !

    Excellent as usual. Are you shooting the Crown on factory settings or have you increased the reg pressures? love the Crown.

      Reduced the factory setting to shoot a bit slower, the factory setting didn't give me enough shots.

    I have been been watching all your pellet comparison videos, I am wondering do you do anything at all to the pellets or are you just pulling them out of the tin?

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Straight out of the tin sir. I just visually check for serious bent skirts. I don't weigh them as many shooters don't have scales to weigh their pellets, I rely on the quality check of the manufacturer as this is what we pay for as shooters.

    Om in die wind te skiet lyk maklik maar oor die wind baie inconsistent waai, maak dit dinge baie moeilik!! Maar soos altyd great stuff Gert💪

      Dankie Garith, ek moes lank dink voordat ek besluit het om tog die video te maak, maar ek dink mense moet besef dat hierdie "one-holers" net in perfekte omstandighede gedoen kan word.

    Very interesting, the lighter pellet travelling at higher speed seems to be the best in the conditions. This is contrary to popular belief. Do you have a. 25 cal air rifle to compare with?

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, not legal in South Africa without a license. I am going down though... testing them in .177 format.

      @@AimSmall This could be interesting, do you have any .177 slugs as well as pellets, a higher speed might be the answer in windy conditions.

    Nice review! but not convincing, due to heavy breeze! next you should pit the 18.13 gr. .22s (50yds) between these brands H & N, JSB, AIRARMS, & FX that would interesting to watch!!!

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it is not convincing, the wind was just too hectic, wanted to go out today and re-shoot but alas the same wind popped up. I know April is a good shooting month here as the wind dies down, so I will be doing a lot of longer range exercises soon. Thank you for the taking the time to respond.

    Your not shooting them fast enough!! Turn it up it's an fx barrel,

    • @AimSmall
      @AimSmall  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank Len, yes the FX barrel likes speed, but I am trying to be realistic here for people shooting at slower speeds, my Impact runs them at 1050fps minimum, so that option is not available, I bought the crown specifically to do slower speeds but it looks like it might be too slow, if I turn this old baby up the air consumption is horrendous. I spend more time filling her than shooting.lol. I will fins an answer, it is just going to cost me some money again.

      I know, that's why I said this in inconclusive and I need to redo this on a calmer day. Still interesting to see how much the wind pushes a 18gn pellet over 50m and how hectic the POI shifts are.
