    Dear Vintage ; When faced with that situation , I go to another booth that's near it. It doesn't cost anything to be polite. I have a pet peeve in this vein , when shopping a discount food rack I can't abide pushy people that snatch stuff and act like rude children. RUDE People ruin the world everywhere they go .😊

    I don’t like people on top of me, nor do I like being on top of people. Especially when the booths aren’t always huge. I move on to another one. 😊
    That’s like people stopping right in the middle of the aisle in a grocery store.. Really 🤦‍♀️

    Especially after Covid-people need to respect personal space/boundaries. ALSO, if someone is recording, for goodness sakes, wait in a nearby area. No one is having an emergency in the antique mall!

    I wait my turn!! If there was something in there I wanted and someone else snagged it, I just figure it was not meant to be mine!!

    I usually wait until they exit the booth completely because I always look on my way out so assume others are doing the same so I stay out of their way.

  • @kitschyoyo78
    @kitschyoyo78 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It depends on the size of the booth. That particular booth is tight so I would wait since there are other booths to visit. However, if I see something I love in there and don't want to take a chance of losing it - I would pick it up if the person is not near it.

    Was the rude behavior entering a public space someone else was in? Do you always expect someone entering a public space you are occupying to excuse themself? It was 90 seconds from when you were in front of the swan to when they were walking out. Doesn’t seem like much of an intrusion. Was the “rolling up” comment loud enough for them to hear? If so, I’d say there was rude behavior on exhibit here.

    Conventions for social distancing vary by circumstance, context, culture, and personal preference. Most, but not Americans, prefer generous spacing, which is also preferred in northern Europe. I don't think most 'transgressors' of this cultural norm do it intentionally. Personally, I only find it irriating when someone hovers so close you have to execute a back-flip to get out, or they reach over you to pick-up something. If that happens, I usually say "I beg your pardon, or can I help you?," which sends most people scattering.

    I think it’s great that you are open to different perspectives. Rudeness is a hard one to figure out in 2023. I think there is intentional rudeness and people that honestly don’t mean to offend.

      @janetkorsak ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I kind of agree, it seemed people were kinder during Covid but now they’re even ruder than before. Some lady drove right into my big butt grocery shopping, I turned around and said “two words, excuse me and I’ll be happy to move, is my ass not big enough for you to see.”

    Michael, that Majolica plate was a dandelion.
    The leaves were the giveaway.
    Shaped like lion’s teeth or, in French, dents de lion. ( dandelion )
    There’s a bit of information to tuck away for future reference. You never know when you might need it !

    I wait my turn. I either go to another booth or scope it out from the aisle until the other shopper is finished. Most booths are too small for multiple shoppers to be comfortable in there, unless you’re shopping together. I’ve never run across anyone filming but I would definitely step aside if I did.
    I foolishly resold my bittersweet swung vase that I bought for $25. My only reselling regret. 🤷‍♀️

    At 21:40, it was a dandelion. :) If a person is obviously leaving the booth, and there is plenty of space to pass them, I would not think it rude to enter as they are leaving. Crowding someone or reaching for something another person is looking at would be very rude, of course.

    I was taught basic courtesy so I would just move to another booth and wait for you to be done. That said, I generally prefer to keep space around me and get over crowded easily. When my daughter was in Girl Scouts I used to volunteer there and the things I heard and saw children do during scouting. I spent a lot of time teaching what respect was. Children learn by example so parents be good people!

    I would be ok If a person asks, “Can I please pop in real quick and look at that piece?” With the focus being one item, then they can pick it up and move out of the booth to look at it more closely.
