I built my 300BO pistol and .223 Wylde 16" with BCA barrels and side charge uppers. Both are very accurate. Having been a manufacturing engineer I get how doing everything in-house results in not having to charge for outside processes and middle man markups. Some folks can assume that quality is a function of price paid. They're wrong but they gotta diss you and call you "poor". I'm too old and experienced to care about some 20 something-thing's opinion. They never show up at the matches anyway.

@@Lar_ry my advice is buy a complete upper for the LR308 platforms that way of you have any issues you can easily send it back to be worked out as to where if you build it all yourself you are stuck figuring out any issues on your own. The lower isn't as important as long as it fits the upper which many lowers and uppers do not match in the LR308 platforms but bear Creek unlike PSA's 308 uppers/lowers will pin on to any dpms style lr308 upper/lower

I have had several issues because of Bear Creek is not a premium product like my Banshee, so I have begun replacing all parts with premium parts. I am looking forward to taking the Bear Creek upper out to range after everything is replaced so I have no more malfunctions. I'd gotten the urge to expand my AR platform last year about this time and had a hankering for a .458 Socom and a 6.5 Grendel. I ended up spending more on reloading components for them than Bear Creek charged for the uppers (.458 Socom brass ain't cheap!). I will admit that I have not had an extensive amount of firing time with either one but did put a couple hundred rounds through the Grendel and 50 or so through the .458. With my initial reloads (no refinement on seating depth or powder charge - or even powder for that matter!) I was easily getting ~1 MOA groups with the Grendel (and about the same with an experiment in fire-forming 7.62x39 to 6.55 Grendel!). I paid a little bit more than $200 but I also got a 20" fluted stainless barrel. The socom also is about a 1 MOA gun with my first reloading attempts using poly coated lead cast bullets. Got nothing but praise for BCA and have sent a number of my friends and acquaintances to them for various purchases.

Built a 16" 350 Legend a year ago. Used a BCA side charge upper, put it on a stripped Anderson lower with a PSA lower build kit. Shoots MOA all day with factory ammo. I also have a bore scope and the rifling and finish in the barrel is head and shoulders better than some of my more expensive brand name bolt rifles. It has run flawlessly since day one.
My son built an 18" in 5.56 with a BCA upper, 223 Wylde chamber, stainless fluted barrel with 5R rifling. With our hand loads (69 grain JHP's from Rocky Mountain Reloading) over 23.6 grains of H-335, it shoots sub MOA all day. It was a little tight at first and we did have a few issues of the bolt not going all the way into battery, but after tearing the bolt all the way down, cleaning and relubing it smoothed out and runs flawless now.
I do know some people that have had issues and had to return their uppers to get fixed or replaced, but BCA did it no questions asked and the fixes or replacements have been fine.
No, they're not $2500 Wilson Combat uppers, but they work, they shoot well, and for $200, you don't mind too much if there's a few small issues, they can be fixed.
I also built a 7.5" pistol in 300 Blackout, but bought a PSA upper only because BCA didn't have what I wanted. PSA's are pretty nice too, but a little more expensive.
Personally, I have no issues with buying uppers from either company.

I have put a little over 500 rounds of steel and 200 brass through mine and only had one failure which was ammo related. I do clean after each range session, but I don't believe it needs it that often, I just have a habit. When I bought it, it came with a 1:7 twist barrel which was pretty good with heavier loads but tended to over stabilize 55gr, which is what I buy mostly, so I upgraded it to a Delton 1:9 twist. Now I have a spare barrel that I can use for a different build later down the road, overall I am very happy with my purchase.

i gotta agree, i just received a 10.5 in 5.56 last week from these guys, and i will attest, they are putting out really decent builds. i am really surprised that bear creek isnt a much bigger name in the industry. perhaps thats a good thing. because as the word spreads the availability goes down and sometimes the prices go up. but for what you get and the quality of what you get, you really cant go any other way. you cant build an upper for these prices. and if you can, then i certainly cant see how. for me, this is the best way. you let someone else go thru the hassle of timing the barrel and putting everything together. i was told to expect loose bolts and out of spec torques. but when it arrived it was perfect, i think the person tht told me that was just a hater. someone who is opposed to saving money. theres nothing wrong with getting a product for an affordable price. im very impressed with the upper i received and will be procuring another very soon.

I have one and put it on a lower with a fostech echo trigger. Ran about 500 rounds mag dumping and the only issue I had was the roll pin in the gas block walked out. A .50 cent part and 10 minutes replacing it and it back up and running with no issues. For $200 you cannot beat that especially with all the heat and abuse I put mine through. The barrel still holds 1 to 1.5 moa when I do my part. I will definitely be buying more of these

The first time I tried Bear Creek Arsenal was to build a budget rifle that could fall from my tree stand or get dragged through a swamp and not hurt my feelings. I started with a 16 inch heavy barrel .300 Blackout. First year out that rifle took 3 deer from 20 yards out 120 yards wearing a $40 red dot. For the next year I built a .450 Bushmaster. Same style red dot, 80 yard neck shot. Now I have those builds, plus a 12.7x42 and a couple .223s, They all run good, and they're all accurate considering the optics I put on them. The largest average group is 2 inches, with a better optic, I know I could shoot any one of them 1 moa or better.

Just replaced the 18" barrel on my BCA LR308 upper with a Balistic Advantage. Wouldn't cycle, left tons of brass in chamber and bolt head even though it actually seemed under gased. When comparing side by side with the BA barrel the gas port and block stop was 1/4" farther out from the chamber on the BCA barrel this made gas tube hardly insert into gas key. I would assume that that measurement would be very standard. I believe the chamber was to tight and that's why even under gased it failed to eject and left tons of brass in the chamber. I wasted $80 in ammo trying different brands and dissembling the gun dozens of times convinced I missed something.

Awesome review. You put it perfectly. Your getting a Ford and your not expecting it to run like a Ferrari.
Nice thing about cheaper guns is your don't feel bad when they get scratched or dented or dinged up. Hell half the time they run better than the Gucci stuff. The Gucci stuff tends to want to be babied and if you don't keep it spotless it runs like crap.
I always wait for a buddy of mine to buy something because no matter what it is he will treat it like garbage, so if it still runs after about 6 months of him running it, it's pretty good. Got a shotgun from him and I cleaned it and it was so full of dirt and shit I was surprised it still ran. I asked him when the last time he cleaned it and he said never.

She eats & Hammers down all the 4 deer I shot this year using 110g A-Max & the hundreds of hogs I have on my Ranch.. 110g & 120g Remington OTFB's seemed to be the best grouping at 100y. Hole in hole

Bought my first AR from BCA last week and I need to say right now that I am super impressed with their customer service. For some unknown reason my rifle arrived with a charging handle that had marks on the T handle. Looks like it was in the jaws of a pair of pliers or at least something metal. It definitely had bite marks
I wasn't a deal breaker and it didn't affect the operation but I thought they should know, so I emailed them and 2 hours later they replied with an apology and said a replacement was on the way.
I haven't fired it yet but I looked it over carefully and 'm not worried. I wanted a home defense - SHTF rifle and that's what I got. I'm happier than a puppy with 2 peters and will go to BCA again.

My first AR so I really don’t have anything to compare it to. Took it out yesterday and shot .223 and 5.56 through it. BCA has great products, affordable pricing, fast shipping and (yes) customer service too ! They do answer emails and you can talk to a real person with a phone call. Unlike Palmetto State Armory who takes (14 ) days or more to print a shipping and tracking label a another two (2) weeks to ship ! Yes I’m expressed with BCA , give them a try hopefully you’ll see for your self and make the change to a company that actually cares and stands behind their products and values their Costumers.

I've got one and I like it in .22, 16 in bbl, about 4 side charging uppers in 556, 223 Wild, 300 AAC, rifle and pistol. IF you can do a little hand work with a stone around the feeding are, and hone the bbl., the groups tighten to a point that is comparable to a high priced semi-custom rifle.

    Good morning brother,
I purchased some Anderson uppers and lowers about a year ago as well as a Bear Creek upper. A 16” .233 Wylde, side charging upper (Gen1) with the M-Lock hand guard. I’ve been procrastinating putting together these platforms until of late as the world has changed dramatically. I married up the Bear Creek with an Alex Pro Firearms lower which fits nice. It’s a heavy girl but I’m good with it. I say all of that to ask you this. A year later are you still satisfied with your uppers? Are they firing well, parts, and performance (accuracy) meet or exceed your expectations?
Just wondering before I go out and sight mine in this weekend. I guess I’m looking for a little validation on my purchase. I’m not a gun snob by any means and I don’t begrudge anyone that wants that $2,500.00 special rifle either. I just want to know if you were satisfied with yours and if it’s something you would trust your life to? Thanks for the video and your time.

I’m new to owning and shooting ARs I bought a 16” 5.56 1:8 BCA upper I did some research before buying and I just got it and made sure nothing was wrong when it came in and made sure it was oiled and everything was in working order and I shot a 30 rd mag through it. Nothing malfunctioned worked fine. I have seen reviews about BCA uppers being overgassed. Is that a problem? What will that do to the gun? Can anyone confirm this and if so how do you fix it?

I have two of their uppers in two calibers. The 7.62 upper gobbles up cheap Russian steel ammo and is very accurate. It will be my hunting rifle. Some of the set screws could have been tighter and the finish isn't ultra high quality but none of that bothers me. The 5.56 A2 upper had some scratches and dings and the gas key isn't staked at all. Bugs me a little, still not unhappy. Haven't shot it yet. I'm sure I'll buy more from BCA. I see them going places...
