I was there, it was overwhelmingly beautiful and I’ll never forget it.

This has to be one of the most laid-back performances I've seen of this piece. Not lazy....oh definitely not lazy, but just relaxed; not hurried; not so pedantic. A few interesting allergandi and tenuti where I wasn't expecting them were refreshing. I felt like they allowed the music to sing for itself without feeling the need to beat us over the head with some of the more bombastic sections.

You are so right - it is as if they breathed air into the music and let it sing - rather than getting it to fit to both sides of a single LP. Kissin does the same thing to Rachmaninov - and they are both revelatory. This is in stark contrast to another pianist whose "playing" is brutish

You should look up the word "bombastic", probably the most misunderstood word in the English language.

I agree with you , I saw Mr Maloveef with Strasbourg orchestra in this concerto at the beginning of the year and it was always with that feeling . He plays so deeply even in the sweet way ! ❤

The ending is just marvelous. What a wonderful performance with an excellently conducted orchestra.

Another unbelievably uplifting performance of Rach 3 from Alexander. This concerto is one of the most challenging in the repertoire and arguably less popular than many others. No longer, he has moved it center stage.

@Richard, thank you very much 🌹 for one more performance of Alexander.
I hope Alexander is a little happy in his new hometown, beautiful Berlin that loves him, just as his fans all over the world also love his performances and him. Hopefully there will be a day soon when he will be able to embrace his family again. Flowers for you Alexander.🌷🌷🌷 (Amsterdam NL)

Emily, a wonderful thing that happened was when they opened the door to the stage, there was our Alexander jumping up and down with excitement. He couldn’t wait to get out there and play. It was a terrific concert as you can imagine. He absolutely conquered the concerto but the latter part of the third movement was the best. So exciting and powerful. I know your name well, seeing it on various Alexander sites. It’s a pleasure to meet you! JH

@@judyhopkin5106 Only now I realized this performance was finally on TH-cam. I go to Malofeev's performances as often as I can, at least once every couple of months, sometimes three times in a month, depending on his schedule and where I am in Europe at the time. Either way, it's usually a 1 hour flight away with several performances within few days.
Anyway, as usual, he is phenomenal.

Another stunning Rach 3 performance by one of the finest living pianists today-and imagine... he's barely out of his teens!
Note: It's Malofeev with BSO not Abduraimov.

Brilliant Orkestra too, they follow Alex instead of the other way around. BRAVO.

Maybe someone should have clued in the male violinist near the concert master that he was at a concert where a great performer was playing 😉

I love Alexander Malofeev and consider him one of the most talented and gifted young pianists of today; however, I do wish he would work on his posture. Such beautiful music to hear but then to watch him slumped over the keyboard is hard to watch. Hopefully he sees this and considers doing some kind of exercise to strengthen his core and back muscles. Anyways I'm happy to see him performing regularly and all over the world!

@LC-bb6kn Can't they give the Steinway musical piano beast some extra feet? Alexander is getting to tall.
