- What you need to know before you buy a MicroSD Card. Make sure you know the capacity limit of the device you're buying for. If you move from phone to phone to phone to phone and the SD card isn't being changed over the years, it will get corrupt. Here is your 101. I would do Samsung, MicroSD, But this price was hard to beat.

I am not computer savvy. I just added a Sandisk Extreme plus class 10, 128 GB micro SD card to my new Samsung S7 Edge. I kept looking all over You Tube as I couldn't, for the life of me, move my photos from the phone to the SD card. Guess what???? Thanks to your easy to follow and very detailed instructions, while leaving NO step out, I was ably to do it. Thank you. By far the best instruction of its type on You Tube. The other videos I viewed all instructed like the viewer already knew a lot of the steps. Great job.

I think the speed of a USB 2.0 connection is more faster than any type of SD card you could buy. The USB transfer speeds are in the hundreds if I'm not wrong, while the fastest SD read and write speeds are around 90-100 MBs (write speeds are usually slower). Other people can probably put it more better than I can but I think I'm mostly right.

I bought a 200GB micro SD CARD at Adorama in NYC for $59. The GS7 edge allowed up to 200GB and the GS9 plus allows a 400GB card external memory.

You can insert the larger SD card on your device. However, most likely you will only be able to see and use the maximum specified amount of memory that can be supported by the device according to the specifications. No damage would happen neither to the device nor to the Sd card.

Wrong, there is no '200GB' limit on Samsung or and devices using exFAT. exFAT has an address limit of 512TiB (128PiB). Samsung or any manufacturer lists the 'maximum size' based upon available 'memory cards' eg _microSD._

90mbps is almost as good as HDD, some SD can do faster than 200mbps which are faster than any HDD, they can just add an SD in a motherboard and work as HD, so it can run the Operating System easily, we could play games with better frames because HD would run the games and the SD integrated can run the os pretty fast
Hello I hope that you can answer my question. I recently purchased an action camera the Akaso Brave 4 and I'm trying to figure out what type of 64GB micro SD card do I need. I would like to be able to record video in 4K, but some people are telling me that the Akaso Brave 4 does not record in reel 4K. I don't know what that means because the camera has the option to record in 4K, 2K and 1080p HD and 720p HD. The Galaxy S7/Edge do not have a microSD card limit of 200GB maximum storage. These like any other phones capable of the microSDXC standard are technically limited by that standard only, meaning a maximum storage of 2TB (unless artificially capped or sporting insufficient drivers or the likes). Never the less. Very misleadingly many phone makers usually claim an actual storage limit equal to the biggest microSD card available at the time of each phone’s release. That has nothing to do with any limit of the phone itself. It's kind of funny how Samsung claimed this 200GB cap on S7/Edge only to start giving away 256GB cards to buyers of the S7/Edge after the Note 7 debacle. Could the S7 phones access the full 256GB of these cards? Yes they could but that was already expected rather than being a surprise.
The new Samsung Galaxy S8+ is still to this day claimed to have a limit capped at 256GB for microSD cards according to Samsung. The biggest card until recently also happened to be 256GB. My own Galaxy S8+ how ever contains a 400GB microSD card and is perfectly capable of detecting, filling as well as reading all of it with no problems or hick-ups. So why does Samsung claim the 256GB cap? Well, Samsung doesn’t manufacture 400GB cards as of yet while one of their competitors does. So instead of being forth coming about that they chose to act like their own product can’t read it. At least until Samsung themselves release their own 400 or 512GB cards. Dishonest or not. Until cards of a size greater than 2TB become available all should be good.

This video is very informative. However, there are so many questions that are going unanswered--this is frustrating just reading them all. When a video is posted you should be prepared to answer technical questions that are associated. One thing very important--know your facts! Samsung Mobile units tend to corrupt SANDISK sd cards. I do not recommend using these two products together. I learned this when my SanDisk 64GB microsd card got corrupted in my Samsung device and I lost over 1K of pics. I could not retrieve them with other apps on my pc. When i went to Android Central for a fix, i read that Samsung are notorious for corrupting SanDisk brand. Go there to see better recommendations and compatibility for Samsung devices. BE CAREFUL. Do not store your pics long term on your mobile sd card. It serves as great expansion for taking a large group of photos on vacation or weddings, etc. But my advice is take the pics and transfer them to your pc or other storage device for safe keeping asap. I learned the hard way.
Raechelle Bennett I have had a 200GB SD Sandisk card in my GS7 edge for 2 years and moved it to my GS9 plus and I never had any problems with a Sandisk card in a Samsung phone.
Robert Greenhouse It's wonderful you haven't had any problems with your card. Not every single user will. After my personal experience and reading all the problems/suggestions from the sources I went to, I won't trust Samsung with SanDisk. I hope the corruption situation is being improved upon.

My question is with respect to game play when you have your game stored on SD card. Does game play also get affected by the class number? Just bought a Sandisk 32gb sdhc but it says app download required. Had to delete files to make space for the app but it will not download unless watsapp is deleted. Am not doing that! That means I can not use the sd card. No instructions and no support from sandisk so will have to take it back to the store as I will not use the sd card until the app is installed. Will just have to buy another phone instead.

+Jacob Schultes I would say 64 or 128GB. If you find yourself downloading a lot of music or videos, i'd do the larger one. or if you use the Gear VR. if you don't do A TON of downloading, then 64 will be perfect.

Can u explain why my San disk 64gb class 10 micro SD card in my moto X pure, loads games and plays more glitchy, when I have game on SD card vs keeping it in internal storage? I tried it several times with words with friends, and when I store the game on SD card, it loads really slow and plays slow. Yet when stored on internal storage, loads normal, plays normal. Thanks.
Not sure if this helps. I had this problem with a sd card i bought off wish. Com. The card would make my nintendo switch load super slow and it turns out the sd card was a fake. H2testw your card to see if it is fake. Look up the site in google. Hope thos helps.

Have been researching the issue and there just doesn't seem to be a sure answer,,that I've found, anyway. All say that sd cards do not, have the speed the phones do. So why then the push to use them for added storage? Makes no sense. They act as if with nougat,or even marshmellow, the phone treats the card as perfect added internal storage, bla,,more bull. It could be my phone or my installation ,,not sure. All I can suggest is folks buy phones with as big of internal storage as they can afford , cause it's less hassle. Thanks again Marcus.
I hope it s real. I went out and bought a samsung evo 128gb card off amazon and its real. I have no issues now. I would say h2testw your card. There is a lot of fake san disk and samsung sd cards out there. They even have the nerve to come in packaging. Buy from amazon warehouse. Robert Greenhouse Hi,, I guess thats true and if so, than SD cards will never be able to be used as internal storage. So the claim that adding an sd card can be used as exact internal storage? In other words, the claim that with nougat or marshmallow, we still don't have perfect expansion of our internal storage to use as if my 32gig storage phone is now 96, with my 64 gig card. Because the speed of the card isn't as fast as the phone. So the phone doesn't actually meld with the card.
We sub 64 gig storage phone owner's pay 50 bucks plus, for SD cards , because a claim of matching storage is put out by Google with marshmallow and nougat, that an SD card is gonna raise your storage and put so much more stuff on the phone and still have plenty of room. I paid good money for a SanDisk class 10 XD 64gig card,, and can't put more than 1gig of phone info on it. And, any games I put on it load and play very sluggish. Very disappointed. And I don't even have a super fast phone. I'm running a Moto x pure. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
