Just cracked mine after my floor jack slipped off the subframe and hit the front of the pan as the car slammed down onto it. I just gave up a weekend and a couple hundred bucks for another oil pan. Be careful about jack placement guys. Great video.
Great video. Have to swap ours out for a hole in our oil pan causing issues. Tons of helpful information for the work ahead on my end 👍🏻 way too many of those transitions slides through the video though 😂
Quick question if you are planning to replace the gasket and also replace the subframe will it make sense if you just drop the subframe completely and do to right then and there ?? I’m new to this and my Miata needs the subframe to be replace as well as the gasket Thanks !
I didn't understand a thing you said. I have a severe oil leak in my oil pan gasket and need it replaced asap. May just take it to a mechanic because repair manual doesn't explain it very well either and I don't know what the frick I'm doing
You’d need to pull the oil pan to replace the gasket. Biggest thing is you have to pull the steering, lift the engine and dismantle the sub frame just to get to the oil pan. It’s a lengthy swap but we have friends that have done it in parking lots 1000 miles from after cracking an oil pan. Just need the right tools on hand.
Lucky you got a response from the video poster, I woulda deleted your dumb comment, this guy don’t owe you nothing. If you don’t know what you’re doing and are unwilling to learn, yeah, take it to a mechanic.
@@thedornanfam-blogsplusmore8510 do you think it's possible without dropping the subframe? I don't have 2 jacks or a set of extra hands to help. Just curious if it's do able with one person

No wonder it cost me so much to replace gasket! My tech just pulled motor out. I had the motor mounts replaced as well. They were 22 years old.

At this point I think it's much easier to simply pull the engine.
Yeah most definitely agree.

Do you think 730$ is a good price from a mechanic to replace the oil pan gasket, or is it too much? What is the price you think would be valid?
If you complain ab dropping a subframe for this choose a different hobby
lol true

@FinallyHeSleeps I did it. It wasn't too bad, you just need a breaker bar for the 19mm and 17mm bolts for the subframe and the shock bolts as well

@trevorcross2512 I did it by myself it's not too hard. You either have to drop the subframe or lift the engine
