I'm impressed with the production quality. You have commitment. Also impressed you keep a smile and that dry humor going, love it, considering the apparant persistent pain you are going through. I have to say, from where I am sitting, that engine does seem to have been poorly maintained by its former owner - though I assume it was a relative bargain. Keep it up, really enjoy your work.
Awesome advice! My ecotec Miata just survived a 2000 mile round trip to the tail of the dragon with some “spirited” driving and back. A lot of hard miles on the motor. This exposed a number of oil leaks that normal driving did not. I can’t exactly pinpoint where they are coming from since most of it was just burning off on the block and making my engine bay smoky… a little embarrassing lol. I’ll have to try out a few of your suggestions especially the dye and see if I can track it down!
First I'm hearing that about Kswaps 😮 I was under the impression that they were pretty bulletproof. To be fair, mine is a modified EcotecMiata pan so the leaks are likely because of that. Thx for the comment!
ecotec leakin is nothing new xD. have a 1st gen in a normal sedan and it drinks a quart every 2k, tho will say you are guaranteed chevy quality cuz its hitting 250k and still burn tires
What are your go-to tips on tracking down oil leaks? I'm open to all suggestions!
These are some of my favorite videos on this site. Keep up the great work!
Great vid as usual man, good luck and keep it up!
Great video! The Exxon Valdez 😆
Tell me you're GenX without telling me you're GenX 😉

Thanks man, ya if I had it to do over, I would have been more careful about the donor motor. Live and learn! #miatagang

I'm very interested in hearing your feedback once you get a chance to investigate the source(s). Plz DM me when you get a chance 🙏
Great video....can't wait for you to get the car back on track. Mosport? Hope the oil cap helped, too!
Time will tell!
lmao that RTV job. PAINFUL.
I've heard similar issues with the k-swap kit's oil pan. Pinhole leaks isn't uncommon with those, either...

That's not Chevy specific in fact. Many higher mileage Hondas do the same thing!
Typical Miata 😂😂
