Daily Stoic The internal vs external score card part was big for me.
Each night before bed I always find myself thinking about how lucky I am to be alive and able to experience the precious moments life gives us.

Just like buddha says, "learn how to suffer so you wont suffer no more."
The majority of the worlds religions teach the same thing - be humble and learn. This makes sense that this universal idea was.echoed in the religions and major secular thinkers before, during and after Christianity.

Do not put too much emphasis on humility and gratitude no matter how nice these qualities are, because they won't necessarily drive you forward. Also, every person is wired differently and someone is more naturally humble than others. But there are many ways to Rome (ego or not), and thus - what people really should be focusing on is their strengths and abilities and go their own way.
There are many more people out there with a sense of false humility who are too scared to take big risks and really make it (and thus secretly hate and envy those who have a more grandiosity spirit) than people who have the guts to be who they really want to be. Being constantly humble, following the herd and keep your head down with gratitude is not a great recipe for success... It's just people deluding themselves to think they are so "good", but really just afraid...
My ego is my friend, we hang out... Some say they have a soul, I am a soul and I have an ego. When I finally learned the difference between the the two voices, everything changed...
Keeping ego at bay by always striving to get better could be the most impactful part for me. But the part that exposes how ego limits us is very useful also.
Working, studying, learning and working out, and be around other people are great methods for keeping yourself humble and gracious. Staying home alone and engaging in social media will easily create a puffed-up ego and false image. This is why having any kind of job is so important.

Ego is a edifice built out of the increasing self awareness of the mortal feeling child in relation to the world it lives in. What it is made out of becomes its expression. Usually it becomes a reaction to suffering and death.
Jalaja Bonheim’s book “ The Sacred Ego” has a unique positive perspective on the ego.
I'm just 8 min into this talk and already I can see how good Ryan has become in delivering his talk. He is sharper with great flow and punchlines in between. Really engaging to watch. I have seen most of his previous talks and I can really tell the difference in the before and now. Great job sir. Great job.

What's your opinion on the 50th law were Robert talks about people with a strong ego pg 262 I agree that ego is the enemy but do you think you should see ego as an ally and developing a strong ego if only for a day to develop a fearless attitude? Or do you think ego in all its form is useless?

Why do you need something to do?
Ego is like a persona that basis comes from other external factor, like telling yourself you’re the greatest. Like affirmations that you’re special, that you deserve the title or your great because of stats instead of doing things that you want. Ego will remove when you stop measuring yourself based on other people’s opinions and other worldly standards. That’s why when you remove your Ego it’s very liberating.

That's how I interpret this phrase.. Subconsciously we need to believe that we can achieve our goals..

So if your idea of being humble is to strive to be the best until you are the best: you are still a slave to your ego.
WHY do you need to be the best? What kind of external validation will that grant you, so that AFTER achieving it, you can finally feel whole and complete?
It's truly depressing how misunderstood this eastern concept is, especially when it's being used in a business environment to make you better
at the rat race, when you did not have to participate all along. When everything you'll ever truly need is most likely already here, around you.

But everything I do is for my ego. Good and bad. There's not one thing that I do that's not processed by my brain. Me. My ego. Even if that means that I give my last penny to someone else, its still my ego that dictates what I do. If I'm sad because someone is suffering its still me that's sad and choose what I do to help or not help. For me it's all about empathy and balance. If you don't take care of your own wellbeing you're not gonna be able to do much good for anyone else around you. I'm not very much better or more noble if I help someone if that means that I won't eat anything that day. It just means that I felt good doing something for someone else. Me. My ego
I dont agree fully that we can avoid ego because professionally other people are always trying to take your job from you. However using our strengths and following our conscience and values instead of being what we think we need to be will take us further .

..I’ve always hated that use of “ego”. Most of the time ego is just insecurity disguised as confidence. It’s not pride-it’s usually shame, fear, and insecurity.

Ego is personal importance. Ego comes in many forms like thinking and saying you’re great or other bullshit words instead of doing the things that makes you happy. Like being shy that everyone will laugh at your work. That everyone thinks of you as something better than everyone else instead of doing the task you reall want to do.

I´m almost done with this video, but the one thing that caught my attention is post-traumatic growth. I once injured my whole back practicing archery and I was forced to take an 8 month break. When I came back, I had the best season of my life and that was even better when I missed half of it due to the injury
