I have had two experiences that are probably unique I took the I-205 bicycle path to government Island and I climb the fence walked around the a bit in 1983 also when it was being built my father and I went along the bicycle path when all of the access grates we're open so I have been inside of the bridge in about 1981 you see the bridge sections are Hollow concrete tubes I have also camped on lemon Island which is often thought of as part of government Island which of course it's not we were on lemon Island the first time ass fell in Portland in 1980 that was the second time I have been to the island other than the time I rode my bike over climb the fence after walking across the Northbound traffic Lanes walk my bicycle to the fence climb the fence and hung out for just a short while I didn't bring enough water I also got pretty sunburnt there was a couple the man was kind of irritated with me because he was there was this lady I asked him if I could have one of their sodas he said no and I said I'll just drink the water out of the river which I was going to do they said no here's take this can of soda I think he was happy when I left I think he was going to do certain things hey it's nature natural things happen so I want to go back there again it was a lot of fun I have not been there on the island for a little while although as I say that I have been on the island I just have not gotten off the I-205 area I have gone across that bridge on bicycle at least a dozen times maybe less it is awfully noisy

When are they going to widen the freeways there??. Tolling is not the answer to congestion.

Do you not realize their answer to everything is to make everything slower if you go down streets there are many places where there were two lanes in Portland they are now one line they wanted to rebuild the I-5 and not add one more Lane of traffic know what they would have done was put light rail and some really nice bicycle paths on there I ride my bicycle over that bridge and the I-5 it's not very wide the i-5 one so I agree with you they need to add more Lanes but they're not going to do it the people who work in the planning department all want to Force everybody on mass transit so that they can drive there government supplied Prius without having to worry about the peasants in their Toyota Corollas
