    I love Portland, the architecture is phenomenal... this is very interesting. I used to live down the street from Queen Anne’s Victorian Bell and during Christmas they decorate and open to the public. It’s incredible. Love your video, thank you fir sharing!

    Having lived at the end of Volpp St. until 1971, I heard that Willamette was populated by people that were not so welcome in the Boston society of Oregon City, and saw that French-Indian ancestry was still apparent when I lived there. I loved the river and kept a rowboat on the bank below our house.

    Amazing video, I live in the Lowell/Dexter area, and it's quite a site to be able to live in the area where this river begins and to see it's journey to the falls where this river runs it's course to the Columbia river, it gives one a humbling experience and I can truly see why the natives called this valley home!!

    This was wonderful! I used to buy plants there for my garden every year and I really missed it when they shut down the access. I also got a kick out of the folks I worked with in downtown Portland coming to my desk to ask me all about this wonderful place a couple of miles from my home. Thnx again for taking the time to do these Scott. I'll be sharing with friends and family as usual.

    Great video. Wish you could have stayed longer in some of the areas. Thanks for showing the current status of what used to be the world fair. That's really trippy. If it had been kept, I can see it being used as multi use shopping area and event center rolled into one. I'm guessing the cost of creating that now would be much higher than it was back in the day. Very educational!

    While this is a great Portland example of a typical SF Italianate (albeit 20 years late, in the 1880s) it’s not at all “Full House”. Those houses, on Alamo Square, are Queen Anne’s, from the 1890s. Queen Anne’s do not have the false front of Italianates (1860s) and Stick style (1880s) but show their (generally) pitched roofs. Too bad they had to take this house so far out of context. PS, the Victorian era is not because “this is about the time Victoria ruled” it is the entire reason for the name of period.

    I have had two experiences that are probably unique I took the I-205 bicycle path to government Island and I climb the fence walked around the a bit in 1983 also when it was being built my father and I went along the bicycle path when all of the access grates we're open so I have been inside of the bridge in about 1981 you see the bridge sections are Hollow concrete tubes I have also camped on lemon Island which is often thought of as part of government Island which of course it's not we were on lemon Island the first time ass fell in Portland in 1980 that was the second time I have been to the island other than the time I rode my bike over climb the fence after walking across the Northbound traffic Lanes walk my bicycle to the fence climb the fence and hung out for just a short while I didn't bring enough water I also got pretty sunburnt there was a couple the man was kind of irritated with me because he was there was this lady I asked him if I could have one of their sodas he said no and I said I'll just drink the water out of the river which I was going to do they said no here's take this can of soda I think he was happy when I left I think he was going to do certain things hey it's nature natural things happen so I want to go back there again it was a lot of fun I have not been there on the island for a little while although as I say that I have been on the island I just have not gotten off the I-205 area I have gone across that bridge on bicycle at least a dozen times maybe less it is awfully noisy

    Also part of the Lewis & Clark Exposition was the "World's Largest Log Cabin" which, sadly, was destroyed by fire in the early 1960's My brother and I enjoyed many weekends exploring that massive structure. Mere words and pictures will always fail to convey its majesty and scale

    Scott..another great West Linn feature. Fields Bridge Park area frequently has flooded since we moved here in 1978. The new park is gorgeous and the garden area gets lots of use as well. Thank you for adding this portion of West Linn to your collection. I also enjoyed seeing the Tiki room completed and watching you create a Blue Hawaii. I had one of those in 1966 in the revolving restaurant.

    When are they going to widen the freeways there??. Tolling is not the answer to congestion.

    • @norahjaneeast5450
      @norahjaneeast5450 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you not realize their answer to everything is to make everything slower if you go down streets there are many places where there were two lanes in Portland they are now one line they wanted to rebuild the I-5 and not add one more Lane of traffic know what they would have done was put light rail and some really nice bicycle paths on there I ride my bicycle over that bridge and the I-5 it's not very wide the i-5 one so I agree with you they need to add more Lanes but they're not going to do it the people who work in the planning department all want to Force everybody on mass transit so that they can drive there government supplied Prius without having to worry about the peasants in their Toyota Corollas

I was waiting for the lines to get down to something like normal so I could sit down and savor my first In-n-Out in about 8 years, and then the current nonsense got shitted on us, so I might never get to go in. And no, I don't call a half-empty restaurant 'open'.
