Having grown up in near by La Center, it is nice to see Battle Ground getting some love. My sister lived there for a while with her family. A lot of the smaller towns in the area seem to all be growing (Battle Ground, Ridgefield, La Center, Woodland). Watching these videos make me miss home, especially since I am now living in Arizona and its 108 outside 😅
Serial killer in BG...lol Lots of cars being broken into here, catalytic converters stolen & cars stolen recently and later found in the Portland area...😞😞
I live in BG. Well, outside the town because traffic in our town is horrible. Development is rampant. Hot weather is really getting serious. Not sure about drinking water in the future. We even have dry snow in the winter. Shocking. Good luck.
The video is a little misleading. In addition to the small town shops, the city has large commercial retailers like Walmart, Fred Meyer, and Home Depot. It also has chain restaurants like Taco Bell, Red Robyn. and Mod Pizza.
There's a family-based religious faction in Battleground and they nearly own the place. Something like Mormons but if you want to do anything commercial (building, etc), you have to deal with them. And they're crazy.
I lived in Battleground for many years, so I was happy to see this video. My kids went to school there most of their lives. I had an Uncle who owned a large wooded & very secluded property where the Indians had their homes in the mountain, before their disagreement with the fort. There's a sign in front of the Police Dept. that tells the story. There are still arrowheads a ways outside the town area on a property which my uncle lived on & protected out of his respect for the native people. He wouldn't let anyone go dig them up, although he was asked. Including archeology students, as I was told. Since he passed, I don't know what happened to that beautiful property, or the arrowheads. The town also watched Mt. St. Helens erupt, which was scary! I retired to another state that isn't nearly as lush & beautiful as Battle Ground is, but it's sure much cheaper to live in.
This kinda feels like my home town, and I love that feeling, as long as it’s close ro a bigger town or city that has a car scene I would be happy. As long as it also has a good coffee place, and nice roads
Moved to Battle Ground from DFW area back in November, I'm loving it and my property tax got cut in half. Also it's almost worth being here for Barrel Mountain Brewing alone, such great food and drinks.
Lived there in 1987, my ex wasa popefitter & me & r 2 youngest children... lived there 4 bout 4 months... beautiful town & area... ty, 4 sharing this✌❤🙏
I lived there for several years in the late 70s and early 80s (except I drove north to Amboy every day rather than south to Vancouver/PDX). It's growth since those days is just amazing...Main Street doesn't seem to have changed much, but all the big stores and fast food chains out near the SR 502-503 intersection make it a far different place than it was back then.
Thanks for making this type of video. I want to move the family to the north west, and it is nice to see less common options. If possible you should look at lake town/cities in the north west
I am a direct battle ground resident, and honestly, with the exception of extremists overrunning the place, it’s a calm and nice town. The area is blowing up with new residents and commercial industry. The place has shot up like crazy in the last 15 years and I expect it to grow massively to the point where I wouldn’t consider this place a small town within 20 years from now
The town is the epicenter in southern Washington when it comes to far right extremists, every other house has proud boys flags on it, the senator currently running for southern Washington lives on battleground and his motto is “America first” which sounds good but is the same motto as the silver shirt fascist legion in the 30s/40s. Plus, right off the Main Street of battle ground is a massive warehouse which has about a dozen and a half trump flags coloring the entire building, with even a qanon flag.

I currently live here in Battle Ground, definitely 7/10. But we're more of an Off-Grid family. We'll be moving to go live in the Washington backwoods soon.
I live just a few minutes South in Brush Prairie, Battle Ground would probably be 5k-10k people bigger if the City Council had not halted all housing development for a few years so the infrastructure, schools etc could catch up. The downtown is exceptionally small for a town of 20k because a lot of people just run into Vancouver or Orchards for stuff, although West of downtown a lot of businesses have popped up with direct link to I-5 now built. Nice thing about Battle Ground is the two big parks just a mile or two from town, Lewisville County Park on the river and Battle Ground Lake state park. I was literally walking distance from town at the old scout camp on the river across from Lewisville Park when I ran into a bear with a attitude a few years ago. Cost of acreage is pretty obscene in the area though thanks to well off Portlanders ( aka former Californians) fleeing the city.
My oldest daughter looked at that area and more. She ended up getting a place in Portland near Marshall Park. I'll find out what it's about soon enough.
I’ve played high school sports against Battle Ground. My son has also. It’s a nice little town. Many of the little towns along the Columbia River. Stevenson is nice, and you have done Camas already. Ridgefield, Washougal, Stevenson, White River are all nice sleepy little burgs. The only downside is that you better be independently wealthy, retired or own an internet business because there’s definitely some soft spots in the local economies. I have friends who live or have lived in most of these places and the jobs outlook is the biggest negative. Otherwise they are nice places.

Legacy Hospital in Salmon Creek is a great hospital and I believe it is where residents of Battle Ground would go. Also, The Vancouver Clinic has a beautiful new medical building right in Battle Ground.
Maybe Longview WA as a place for folks who are trying to get out of Portland/Vancouver. I know of some of the issues with it, but now curious on your thoughts as it's been in my consideration list as a bit more out of the way from the Portland/Vancouver area, but decent sized enough that it has some downtown, stores and things to do. But the one major turnoff I know of has me leaning away from there. :) Also, was born in raised in Oregon, and you almost have me wanting to move back. Only thing keeping me away is the income tax. I want to be back around the Salem Oregon area as all my family is there and I miss them. That and I miss a lot of things about Oregon. Currently up in Whatcom County Washington which I very much enjoy and would miss as well for various reasons.
Battle Ground is a great little place. Some good restaurants, and cute antique shops too. I wasn't aware they had such a low crime rate. Good information! Good video too.
I gotta say, your background music for this series has been great. blues, lo-fi, I love it. coming from another (much less successful) content creator, where do you get your background tracks from?

Wow! Battle Ground has grown since the last time I was there (35 years ago). When I lived in Camas (another small town video) with my ex, his family lived in Battle Ground so we’d go up and see them. At the time, I thought it was a boring little town (I was in my 20’s then). Now, it seems like Heaven. Thanks Briggs!
@@anthonycatalfamojr2403 Oh, I’ve seen it! I lived in Camas in 1986-87 so it was nice to see how much it’s grown. I do prefer living closer to Vancouver BC (my hometown is Bellingham) than to Vancouver, Wash 😎
You have to go to Vancouver for anything other than shooting in the woods or drinking in the woods… or go to church at one of dozens and dozens of churches. Most places you have to leave the immediate area to even fish, as Battle Ground lake is crowded and polluted, and most of the river spots are too full of humans to have any success at fishing. There are dozens of better spots. Battle Ground really isn’t great, and gets worse with every new inhabited house that goes up.
@@pnwfisher2144 actually… it doesn’t. But Europe does! However, leaving takes money, money I don’t have. I have set up a gofundme to deal with people that want me outta here too. I genuinely want that, so I will be letting everyone who says “like it or leave it” this same info. If you don’t have money to help me flea the country, you and I are stuck together. Don’t like me here? Send money! Otherwise, you have to deal with me! The more people that donate, the sooner I can get to Europe, and leave the states to people like yourself! I am SO GRATEFUL for that. Change is Good.
I’ve been looking into battleground for about a year now because of tax reasons. I can shop in Oregon(no sales tax) and live in Washington (no state income tax). It’s a great spot. Hopefully they have room when I’m ready to make the move in a few years
Perhaps you're unaware that, as a WA native, when you shop in Oregon and go back to WA, you're supposed to pay the sales tax - at least, that's what I've been told.........
This is part of why we moved here to Battle Ground, our home was more expensive than our home in Texas, but our Property tax was cut in half. We cross over the bridge for Costco trips.
Yeah I didn't know the 78 '70s and eighties I was working down there called milk out of there from Anderson Dairy delivered a lot of farm equipment from for John Deere in there and stuff anyway it was bad but then I moved up by Forks a lot better Washington
Briggs!! Stop!! Those pretty open fields are being gobbled up by housing developments as we speak! And I probably shouldn't say this-but there are some beautiful state & county parks near Battle Ground.
Too close to Portland! In the 80's was nice. Couple different sets of friends from there. One, a star athlete, runs a few depts for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The others paternal parent scared the poo outta me with a small airplane. Since, i kinda HATE small airplanes.
Battleground has turned to junk. The crime rates out there are extremely scary. Every night is always something different. And let's not forget the cost of living over is is horrible. High cost of living.
I have lived in Battle Ground my entire life, almost 40 years. This video is nice but I am curious why you only showed the old part of town? I understand if your objective was to show the more idyllic part of town but there’s a whole other huge section of our town. And I know that the video is short for a reason but it’s a tiny bit misleading. Although it is nice for old town to get some love.
Everyone knows what a Walmart, Mattress Store and McDonalds looks like. The focus of this series is main streets of small towns. My objective is to get people to make there way into small mom and pop shops. Battle Ground is really to big for what I envision the series to be, but I was there and they have what I like to see.
Thank You. I spent many days and night's in Battle Ground with my sister Nancy who lived on Grace St. next to Punks Muffler's. It's a Great little town with a lot of community spirit. Many weekends spent at Battle Ground Lake before they decided to charge an arm and a leg just to swim or fish. It used to be Free. Plenty of Halloween's spent on Main St walking both sides to Trick or Treat with the community. Christmas time gathering to watch the Lighting of the Christmas Tree in front of the Police Station and singing together. The night Glows of the Hot Air Balloons as we all young and old laid on the ground surrounding the Balloons holding hands. Great Times, Good People and Forever Great Memories. Thank You So Much Briggs ! ❤️
But how many weed dispensaries do they have. I know Clarkston WA, has three within three blocks of each other. Do a video on which state and cities have the most weed shops. By weed I mean marijuana of course, not dandelions.

But the one major turnoff I know of has me leaning away from there. :)
Also, was born in raised in Oregon, and you almost have me wanting to move back. Only thing keeping me away is the income tax. I want to be back around the Salem Oregon area as all my family is there and I miss them. That and I miss a lot of things about Oregon. Currently up in Whatcom County Washington which I very much enjoy and would miss as well for various reasons.
It’s literally a drug town
Please consider featuring Castle Rock, WA! Cute little downtown area and not too far from Portland!
Yakima is experiencing amazing growth right now, so many new houses are/were being built in the west and east valley
You mean Crack-ima
@@cecilycook5592 I can't wait to move back there after I'm done with college, Yakima is #1
@@FranciscoSantos-uz8ep good for you... id never
“Amazing” growth 🤦♂️
Battle Ground is a great little place. Some good restaurants, and cute antique shops too. I wasn't aware they had such a low crime rate. Good information! Good video too.
I gotta say, your background music for this series has been great. blues, lo-fi, I love it. coming from another (much less successful) content creator, where do you get your background tracks from?
Good video , thanks for sharing , I also take landscape videos in UK and sometimes abroad .It's very helpful and interesting . I subscribed to the channel, so I'm looking forward to it. Thank you for the good video
Should you have mentioned the Apostolic congregations?
Crazy seeing where I drive around almost daily. Trying to get outta this area 🤦 it's just as bad as everywhere.
He does a cool camas one if you haven't seen that one.
@@anthonycatalfamojr2403 Oh, I’ve seen it! I lived in Camas in 1986-87 so it was nice to see how much it’s grown. I do prefer living closer to Vancouver BC (my hometown is Bellingham) than to Vancouver, Wash 😎
@@anthonycatalfamojr2403 I agree. And he really shows the downtown.
Felicia Sampson I totally agree.
So, why are people moving to Battleground? It would be nice to hear what festivities or other activities happen at that location.
@@Itsfineweerallfine… Battleground has everything Vancouver has that you’d need
@@pnwfisher2144 actually… it doesn’t. But Europe does!
However, leaving takes money, money I don’t have. I have set up a gofundme to deal with people that want me outta here too.
Hit me up for the link! Remember, the sooner and more you donate, the sooner I get out of the states!
Though, this year I have seen so much promising diversity to help make this white bread, bible thumping, racist, homophobic, and trumpublican area a better and less extreme. I am SO GRATEFUL for that.
Change is Good.
Unfortunately for those of us who grew up here it’s been ruined by rapid development over the past decade 😔
Nothing like a huge development of mashed homes next to the cemetary.
can you do a video about goldendale wa
actually they have a third school, called Columbia Academy
@@flakeyjake3339Uh ain’t nobody doing that 🤣
Yeah I didn't know the 78 '70s and eighties I was working down there called milk out of there from Anderson Dairy delivered a lot of farm equipment from for John Deere in there and stuff anyway it was bad but then I moved up by Forks a lot better Washington
You didn’t even show some of the busier shopping area of the town??? It is mush more updated that the old part you showed!!!
I had to move out 4 years ago because the city made it illegal to park my truck on the street.
I played and won a paintball tournament there years ago at battleground paintball
I couldn't find your power bank link you shared a few days ago.
amzn.to/3SO9RbO I had a bad link that day. It is still on sale on Amazon.
I can't tell BG from Camas. I feel like the next one is going to be Aberdeen.
You left out the best part the lewis river
Briggs!!
What’s wrong with small airplanes
drove to west seattle a few days ago and passed this town on the way. what a coincidence
Ah yes, Battle Ground WA. Basically suburb of suburb of Portland
Come see us in Port Orchard!
Do you compose the music for your videos?
Is that your highest priority? You can find weed shops almost everywhere pal. They are like service stations. If you don’t like one, drive a half mile and there will be another.
1 - Cannabis Country Store, about a mile west of this old/downtown area.
@@briangarrow448 I knew this would pull out shitheads. It was a freaking joke. Damn, I would guess you voted democrap if you even voted. You my boy are a KAREN.
Weed shops????? Leave the basement and get some sun and fresh air. A job is much better that weed.
@@jetsons101 Where did this come from? Most people who smoke weed live normal lives and have jobs, just like everyone else
I deliver Amazon packages all day every day from North Portland to Salem Beaverton Gresham Vancouver Camas and even battleground every single day sucks ass it is not good nothing special do not relocate unless you have nothing to do
You are so very right, and I hope your commitment saves folks from the crushing disappointment of moving to this horrid place.
Also it would be nice to know the average price of trailer parks/RV parks. For use poor white trailer trash, living the life of ease. I retired wanted to spend a month hear a month there, but RV parks are damn expensive...
Looks good for a small town. However I don't like the COLD!!! LOL
Pretty mild winters
Hey Briggs should I be typing, or should I stop...?
Hush 🤫 Charleston SC is a hidden beauty
If you consider 20k people a small town, should do Moses Lake WA 🤣🤣🤣. Thats our biggest town in our county. The rest are TRUE small towns.
