There was a time when I planned to drive & camp that coast. Will never happen now. That's why I have the coastal video locked on my PVR. Great images. Thx.
mikestand714 I’ve been voting since 1971 and things have only gotten worse. No matter how we vote the 2 parties continually rig the elections to benefit the rich.
We saw this the other night on PBS in Seattle (broadcast from Tacoma) We immediately wanted to purchase it. You guys are missing out on a lot of money by not making it available for purchase. I have scanned the entire internet and can't find this show anywhere to purchase. why not?
You can get it on DVD or Blu-ray by making a minimum $75 donation to Oregon Public Broadcasting at opb.org. I too would like to be able to buy it at Amazon (or wherever) for $20.
I am a southwestern Oregonian, so I recognize a few shots here, but, really guys, why are so few shots identified? I could like this vid more if there were a few more labels included.
By now their must be a long range drone that has a miniature camera as good as the one in the video, with a revolving clear lens cover that remotely revolves to the next clean lens when it gets dirty. No worry when flying in close quarters either they have sensors to keep the drone from hitting anything.
Only 4 years later and helicopter footage almost seems outdated. Camera tech and distance covered by drones probably isnt as good yet, but the cost, safety and environmental benefits dramatically outweigh the helicopter method.
@@Stevenowski Not to mention drones with that nice of a camera are military drones that cost millions of dollars. Even a nice say $10000 drone can't operate a camera like that. People here really overestimate what consumer drones can do. Those nice shots that some youtubers get are heavily edited with software and have a pretty narrow aperture, and have a very short range. The FAA is also pretty cautious about letting people fly even cheap drones in controlled airspace.
Funny you say that cuz I visited NC way back in 2005, when I left Oregon in the first week of Nov, it was a cold, grey, rainy day. Get to south Carolina & it was beautiful! 75-80° the 3 days I was there & north Carolina! I told my ex that I wanted to move there! Still haven't tho. It was beautiful tho!
My dad died in 2011 and in 2011 three or four weeks after he died I seen a post or a picture of where a video of the cougar dam project in Washington I would give anything for the information and or videos of this production. My dad what's the tower crane operator on this project. The last scene of the movie was the reporter entering the cabin of my dad. I seen this video about 3 or 4 months after my dad had passed please please please help me find these videos
OPB Should do another video of Oregon. Call it Oregon Back roads. Showing the places in Oregon that aren’t as well known and off the beaten path. I think that would be interesting.
Just what exactly is OPB? You might consider using that area above the comments to say something about that. Its all professionally done otherwise, so let us know who are you.
Screww Googlle I am not sure where you live but where we live we don't even know that politics exists. We are too busy enjoying the water, trees, mountains and people. When you find things to love in life, you are left with zero time to notice unpleasant things.
I must make a correction I cam in when some people were having a bad day most people in the earlier timeline had the same response to I apologize there’s still a lot of good people still out there
Other than the Portland area aka, (Pee-town) because the streets in that city reek of hobo piss and it's just a terrible Seattle/California wannabe city, it's actually pretty cheap to live here. I'm poor as shit and have no problem affording to live here.
Because the only drones with the type of camera that was on the nose of the helicopter are military drones, and they cost millions, not to mention the military and FAA, (and other governments) are very cautious about letting people use them in their airspace. even planet earth didn't use drones they used planes and helicopters, because even the BBC doesn't have the money to spent on a multi-million dollar drone. Even those really nice drones that cost thousands of dollars don't have cameras that big or with that wide of an aperture because they just can't support the weight.
Currently living in Oregon after retiring from USAF. Been to every state except Alaska and was stationed in 11. OPB really hit this out of the park. I have all the blue ray and DVD disks. Send them out to relatives and friends as gifts. Wished EVERY State would do a series on their states wonders.

Ken Patton We are moving to the Oregon Coast from another state. We just have to find a house, been looking for a few weeks. I’ve traveled a little bit, several countries in Europe and some of the Western Middle-east. But by far the most beautiful place I’ve ever been is Alaska. Some of the places I’ve been there are breathtaking. If you can, definitely go. If you like the beauty of the coastal areas of Oregon you will love it there. Spring and summer are the best time to go for exploring hiking fishing etc. I hope you can make it there soon.
hey pay me to film the coast. i will drone it super cheap. this dude is making this super complected. i hope you all did not film this in 2015..... like wow old school method
All of this you were allowed to film and for us to enjoy. But you did not say one thing about the Lord Creating all of this. We don't own it it is all his. Give The Lord Credit .
I definitely don't think the shadow of the helicopter is a "wasted" shot!!!

And then came drones
Beautiful footage!
Really enjoyed the flight! Thank you!!!
very nice.we are lucky to live in such a beautiful country.
mikestand714 too bad we have such a corrupt government.
@@fw1421 Fix it. VOTE!

I want to go back there. Only take my time from the top to the bottom or the beautiful Oregon Coast.
been to most of these places. i love the oregon coast. great video.
*_Another Masterpiece from OPB... Always the best of the very best..._*
Amazing photography! Magnificent scenery!
I lived in Oregon in the late70's. Beautiful state. Unfortunately it is run by lunatics.
California has an excess of lunatics and they're bleeding over into neighboring states.
Radke32 Kalifornication was a term when I was there, lol
If we could only keep Liberals from breeding.....
I thought I was watching HIDDEN TREASURES not cameras & gadgets

We stopped at the air museum in 2008. Nice museum with some interesting planes.
The best show ever I try to never miss a episode o f g thank you for all the years of excellence

This looks really good. I have a $400 4k+ drone that can go slower and lower.
I love the shadow of the helicopter in the shot.
That light house in 4:46 is beautiful

I Love Oregon!!
Very nice.
I love Oregon my son lives in Gold Beach
looks wet...
Just like the west coast of Norway, or Ireland / UK .... wt wt wet .. rain rain rain
I bet they’re pretty happy drones exist now. They e completely revolutionized cinematography.
Beautiful
SUPER COOL Man my wife works at the Heceta lighthouse!!!! Never realized there's a cave out front
Try some tear away strips on the camera lens just like dirt bike racers use on their helmet faceshield and Auto racers use too.
Have you considered using a drone for aerial footage? The video comes out pretty stable and high quality.
Only 4 years later and helicopter footage almost seems outdated. Camera tech and distance covered by drones probably isnt as good yet, but the cost, safety and environmental benefits dramatically outweigh the helicopter method.
Terry said beautiful footage she was right why do you people need to degrade a thing you could not do in a thousand years
Awesome!!!!! ❤️ thank you!!!
If only they had flying cameras that weren't quite as large as helicopters and much less expensive to operate...
There called drones !

Who is actually going to follow a drone up and down the whole Coast in one day? People don't think before they type.😵

My friend in hazmat worked on blimp build after fire, he gave me a burnt metal ring that was the blimp's nose ring, cool
What was that building at the end of the video?
Absolutely stunning! I live on the NC coast and never considered even visiting Oregon until I watched this documentary. Now I want to move there!
The entire coastline is public property !

Oregon. In my humble opinion - the most breathtaking state in America . . . . . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💓
Everybody dreams about New York. If I ever go to the US I’ll go North West for sure.
Be sure to check the Olympic rain forest/mountain range!! Breathtaking
