[10:05] “Some of those TD’s are just throw them up to SUTTON,” Sutton never had double digit touchdowns before Russell Wilson… If Wilson had played those last two games, he would have had at least 28-30 total touchdowns, if not more… How many other quarterbacks accounted for 29 total touchdowns, including 3 on the ground…
Wilson and the BRONCOS beat the Chiefs by 15 points, the most of any other team the Chiefs lost to…
If a Coach can’t coach a player like Russell Wilson, a 9 time Pro Bowler, then what does it say about Sean Payton as a Coach, because Pete Carroll went to back to back Super Bowls with Wilson as his quarterback, and WON one.
Bill Belichick took a quarterback who wasn’t his first choice and won his first Super Bowl, after his prototype star quarterback went out for most of the season. Parcels took a backup and won a Super Bowl, Joe Gibbs won three Super Bowls with three different quarterbacks who started their entire respective seasons each…
If Russell Wilson and the Steelers end up playing the Super Bowl, Sean Payton should be run out of DENVER never to coach again in the NFL…

Sure, he played that well under a coach that openly hated his guts and made no real attempt to utilize him well while ripping him apart on the sidelines for no reason. And sure, he played his best in the 4th quarter when he was able to play to his strengths better and he wasn’t as chained down by play calling that had no faith in him. Yes, the Steelers did pick up two cast offs... But they got them for almost nothing. Even if they are dismal failures, the only way to find your guy is to try out lots of guys, especially when you aren't drafting at the top.
Pickett was not the guy. And the fact he threw a tantrum when there was the suggestion he had to compete shows that.
At the end of last season, when he was asked about Rudolph, he should have said "Coach needs to put in whoever gives us the best chance to win, and I'm excited to see Mason light it up. Goes to show what we can really do, and I'm looking forward to getting healthy and back on the field next year.".

Kenny only looked good because Mitch Trubisky was so terrible. Kenny had 7 game winning drives so I give him credit for that. Also he was 14-7 as a starter in the games he didn't get injured. Problem was he was injury prone and whenever he got injured, Mitch would come in, turn the ball over like he did every game, go 3 and out constantly, and always lose the game. Mitch doesn't get enough blame, especially since he lost every game he played in last season (JAX, ARI, NE, IND) and almost cost the team the playoffs with his awful play like he did the year before.

      @DeCurtaRican 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Right, and Russ was ironically one of the few who pulled it off! Over the last 12 years, how many QBs have come in NFL ready?
Russ (still a top QB despite mishandling)
      Luck (mishandled, flamed out)
      RG3 (mishandled, flamed out)
Cousins? (Not good when it counts)
Carr (not the same since injury)
Dalton (not the same since injury)
Dak (not good when it counts)
DWat (his life is a mess)
      Herbert (Rivers, 2.0?)
      Burrow (injury prone)
Kyler (a 5’9 Mahomes but immature)
      Purdy (looks promising)
Stroud (superstar written all over him)
So Russ, Burrow, Purdy, and Stroud are the champions of seamless transition.
Lawrence could’ve used a year of waiting. Baker looked good in Y1 but regressed and had maturity issues.
Mahomes sat the bench as a rookie for a reason, and it had nothing to do with Alex Smith, other than the fact that he couldn’t beat out Smith.
The problem are the Millennials and Gen-Z fans who treat athletes like software. They believe newer is always better, and they subscribe to the idea that if a QB isn’t ready to lead his team to a SB by Y2 (like Russ and Burrow) or Y3 (like Mahomes), he’s a bust!

As has been stated many times before, Tomlin has the support of the Steeler front office and, especially, the players. Matt Canada was the first midseason firing for the Steelers in...wait for it...82 years. I've been a citizen of Steeler Nation for 50 years...I've seen THREE head coaches in that time, so the idea of Tomlin getting fired is sheer lunacy. Even more than that, knowing the type of coach he is, you don't want to be Pittsburgh looking across the field and seeing Mike Tomlin on the opposite sideline. Acquiring Russ AND Justin is a huge change for the Steelers; the last time they got a free-agent QB was Mike Tomczak 31 years ago. Tomlin will leave when Tomlin wants to leave.

Kenny Pickett is certified trash as a QB in the NFL. Stop fighting for this kid. Pickett is pointless as a starter. Russell Wilson has almost identical numbers from 2023 that he had in his 2013 season when he won the Super Bowl. All of the media or ex football players saying Wilson is washed up obviously doesn’t pay attention to the numbers, because he has 26 TDs in both seasons and 1 less INT in his 2023 season. Why are you saying this is his last chance after seeing guys like Trevor Lawrence who is not even that great of an average QB that you all praise and Justin Herbert is so great but can’t win a playoff game or make a playoff game for the most part, yet you praise him. Joe Burrow is a China Doll that has been hurt every year and outside of his Super Bowl year, he can’t stay healthy. You all praise people that can’t win a Super Bowl and trash a guy that has the same numbers as the year he won the Super Bowl 10 years earlier, and you say he’s trash.

I notice and draw attention to math. There are 32 QB spots in the NFL. There are also about 130 QBs in the NCAA. If a quarterback has an average career of 4.44 years (the NFL average of all POS is 3.3 years), by the math, ~ 5% of NCAA QBs ever become a starting QB in the NFL, and they only have an average of a 4.44-year career. Only 15% will have a "full" career of 8 years. So, what we are talking about is a 0.75% chance of drafting your "starting" QB. Of 130, 1 QB will be a starter in any given year based on averages. Yes, could that be 2 or 3 sure. But that would also mean that there are years where none of the drafted QBs end up as a starter. I think we overhype who is who, and in the end, we really don't know anything and all of this is just guessing.

It's a huge gamble with Wilson see if he has any left in the tank and then to make fields be automatically the backup? After he finally found some growth in Chicago? Also it's tragic the game is living up to the" Not For Long". It's large reason why Rodgers was so good- he had time to sit behind a good qb and learn just like Young did and even mahomes... It's a big transition to the pros and you're just not going to light it up right out the gate it takes time and good coaching. Not everyone is a freak baller like stroud. This was a panic move by the Steelers. the Steelers handled the whole situation wrong. Pickett found ways to win. Fields lost more games with a better overall defense, at least last year. Russel is done. Pitt should have signed Tannehill to back up Pickett because of the Arthur smith relationship. The running game got going the second half of the season, Canada was gone, and Pickett started playing better. We should start rotating through QB'S every year and become the Pittsburgh Browns. If Pitts running game and defense aren't all world, neither of these QB'S can win. I'll still route for whoever is in there. Damn, this is frustrating.

I agree that Russ has no specific buy in at the Steelers, but I do think that he is very very driven to go out on a high. I think he chose where he went specifically because he thinks that it gives him the best chance to win.
Perhaps he has just lost his magic, but the Steelers did fine last year with almost nothing at QB. If he can deliver a boost from Pickett (which he should, even based on last years stats) then this is probably an 11 or 12 win team. Not a super bowl contender, but likely to run to the AFC championships and lose to the Ravens or Chiefs. If Russ still has any gas in the tank, they could go further.
He would have to be outrageously inept to make the team worse.

Steelers started 3 Quarterbacks last season which produced record breaking low stats. Everyone knows that the Steelers defense was the reason for their success last year. There is no time to waste when every team in that division has an elite quarterback. Russell should get the start because of the experience & give Fields time to develop next to the coaching staff on the sideline.
