Been using a 1660 since I built my machine in 2020, ended up getting it for around $220-230 new right before prices got really crazy, and i'm totally capable of playing just about anything at 1080p, it's far from perfect, and newer games I tend keep more on the medium and lower end of settings, but being able to go back through the past couple generations of gaming and play stuff I used to play on 360/ps4 at higher settings/60+ fps is great. Plus, for anything with a little headroom, I can even push a 21:9 res and it still works great. The only game to really struggle for me was Dying Light 2, but I only played it at launch and ended up refunding it due to stuttering
the 1660ti only costs a few dollars more but it is probably the best budget gpu out there right now. i've bought a used one for around 200 bucks (it feels more because the hungarian forint is suffering from double digit inflation). but it still has its box, warranty, even those little plastic protectors. sure it has no RGB but the price for performance ratio at 1080p is amazing
I have a 1660 Super that's served me well during these past two years. I used to jokingly turn on ray-tracing on Control while streaming the game to my friends after setting the game to the lowest quality 720p and it still managed to give me 25-45 fps.
I bought this card and some time later super version was released, but still no regrets I'm using this card for almost 3 years now , with some smart graphics settings I always achieve 60+ fps on all games
Hey, that's my old Palit 1660 card. I used to play at 1440p and 2160p with a smooth 60 fps cap in most games. Rarely did I come down to 1080p, even Cyberpunk handled 1440 perfect and even 4K with some tweaking.
I've got a Palit StormX 1660 Super and it's a little beast. I play at 1080p and I don't plan on getting a 1440p monitor anytime soon, so it should last me some years
I had a super paired with a 1440p monitor and it worked great. I gave it to a coworker as a going away gift to replace their gtx 970. One of my favorite gpu purchases ever. Got for around $200 right before the market went crazy a couple of years ago, so glad I did.
I've had my 1660 super from 2019 to present day - card was great for 1080p! Because of the price drop upgraded to 2060 Super - another great card for me for the next 3-5 years!
Interesting to see the cyberpunk results. I had a 1650super and got barely playable results with all settings on low with that card. Now I have a 3080ti and all sliders are maxed, except for ray tracing.
I bought one back in 2020 right before the whole crisis began and it's been solid. I couldn't wait to expand my budget but that was probably a blessing in disguise. Although it gets loud, I somehow managed a massive overclock (5000mhz mem and 2130mhz core) that closes the gap between it and other 1660 variants so I'm happy in the meantime before I get something else in the future.
I'm content with this card, its prebaked in my laptop and it gets me by. I was thinking of upgrading to a new laptop within the year but with inflation I don't think it's a possible path
There is no mobile 1660? The only mobile version is the 1660ti, which is very nearly to as powerful as a desktop 1660ti and outperforms the card in this video.
I got the 1660 for my first build in 2019. Good 1080p card, it satisfied me. Planning on putting it in an itx build later. BUT I'm gonna need more shots of the doggo. He is so adorable.
I have this card, I paid 100 euros. I take this gtx 1660 because the super and the ti models costs ~150 euros and for 10% more powerful I won't paid 50 euros more... Sorry for my English, french people 😁
I just recently replaced my EVGA 1660 with the 3060 when they had their anniversary sale kick off. Paired with the ryzen 5 1600 it was a completely capable 1080p gaming setup. Now with the 3060 i'm going to wait until next gen AMD comes out to build again.
I'm rocking a gygabyte 1650 for nearly 2 years now (OC version, 2 fans, has a 6pin connector) and it's amazing now you show up and roast the 1660 in the thumbnail made me chuckle (said thumbnail since I just saw "great" in the title lol)
I just picked up the MSI Super version for my daughter's PC for only £120. She's more than happy playing Valorant and Stray with it. I'd like one for myself now.
My System was running on a 1660 from last year summer to this year spring. I was lucky to get one new for 280 Euros, while the entry level Graphiccards where at about 500 Euros. It did a good job in 1080p. I think it was a good gpu back then and even today it is a quite good entry level gpu.
i just got the Ti version and i must say, it's still very capable for 1080p. next year will be a great time to upgrade to an rtx card with price drops and all
Still having an i7 4790k and the 1660s in a mini itx case with a 400w psu. Upgrading the gpu to the next generation the 2000 series or beyond would exceed my PSU wattage and would have to get another PSU just to accommodate the new card, so I'm not about to spend unnecessarily esp when my current setup is still going strong, 60 fps in cyberpunk, and easily over 70- 80fps on everything else. For the wattage to performance ratio, the 1660s gives the best yield and balance of the entire line of nvidia cards.
@@arjuntrehan48 Some gpu have more headroom I guess. But the bright side is you have a 1660 and not a 1050 so it could be much worse. And 10fps boost is alot if your talking 100fps territory. Have been using this for a few years, was thinking of possibly selling and getting an RX 6600 instead, but on second thoughts I don’t think I will bother. They’re really both 1080 cards anyway, and I can still get good enough fps with the 1660 on the games I play (which are usually a few years old themselves anyway). Will keep the faithful 1660 a while longer until there is a massively good value upgrade available for a good price! Thinking maybe next year will make more sense to upgrade.

I bought a TUF RX 5700XT, notorious for not having any cooling for the memory, but I bought from some a random dude that had done some modifications on it, the same modifications that Hardware Unboxed did on the same graphics card a few years ago, and it runs great!!! I play cyberpunk at 1080p ultra with 80/90 fps, I paid 350€ for the card, which is not that great I know, but second hand card prices in Portugal are not that great
Not too shabby at all if you can get one for a decent price, that 6Gb is going to be the real limiter going forward , but its likely OK for a while yet at 1080p
I've got the 3 fan TUF Gaming variant of this card. Quite happy with it as I'm not a FPS crazy gamer. Have only experienced slight stutters in God of war. All the other games look quite nice at high 1080p presets.
This was the card I want to buy back in 2020 to replace my 1050 ti. I was fiddling between 1660 super and 5600 xt. But then lots of reviews outlet said better wait for next gen gpu to arrive, So I wait and got absolutely blindsided by pandemic and crypto boom. In the end I decided to save up my savings while weathering the storm and see what future pricing might shape up. Then, coincidentally rx 6600 just got down way below msrp last 2 weeks, Like 270 dollars here. That's why I bought it and feels very satisfied my patience is handsomely rewarded.
You would've been 100% frustrated if you would've gotten the 1660S instead of the 5600 XT, given the AMD card is like 20-40% faster, depending on title.
VERY similar story to mine lol. Got the RX 6600 as well at a a good price and the wait was worth it. RX 6600 is a really good buy now since the price drops. Probably the best deal in it's category and price range at the moment

I bought a msi 1660 back in early 2021 when I didn't have a gpu and it served its purpose for about a year before I bought a 3060. I was able to play basically any game I wanted at 1080p with no problems.
I have the Gigabyte OC version of this card as during the time I bought it no other GPU was available in my area. It's great specially once I changed platform to a 12th gen i3 though I am planning on replacing it with an RTX 3060 soon
I bought a 1660 before exchanging it for the 1660 Super back in 2019 before exchanging that for the Radeon RX 5600 XT for just a bit more money. The 1660 I had was the Asus Phoenix model with the pitiful single fan heatsink and center copper slug. The card would get pretty toasty despite having a ton of ventilation in my case. The Asus Armor 1660 Super ran much cooler with it's twin fan setup and multiple heatpipes. Then AMD/ Sapphire released the 5600 XT for $50 USD more and made it a no-brainer considering the performance increase.

For reverence the same exact card cost around 1.800,00 Reais today, it was a bargain, and for that price I can't really complain, its has been able to run every single game in 1080p at mid/high settings.
The 1660 cards would be the absolute kings of the 2022 budget rig but nah. The prices just kinda stay dumb and so you might as well stretch just a bit further and buy an RX6600 instead
I got a triple slot, dual cooler SUPER because the Ti has GDDR5 while the SUPER has GDDR6. Because I do more than play games (my DAW uses hardware acceleration where memory speed is important), I opted for the SUPER.
Im running a heavily overclocked 1660 that i got during the crypto boom (after i sold my rx580 for just about 40$ less) (the ti / super cost another hunge more or smthng) Its an amazing card and the addition of barely using any electricity is a bonus. Some of us dont want space heaters that cause our rooms to warm up by 5 degrees when gaming Edit: 2 years of warranty is a bonus
Had to settle for an rx580 when stock started disappearing lol. Wasn't a 1660 left in the country it looked like, and snagged the last rx580 before they were gone as well. Soon as the crypto boom started they were like gold dust lol
GPU purchasing tip: Wait until a now GPU gets released. Everyone will want it, and sell their old ones, thereby creating a huge aftermarket where the previous-gen GPUS can be bought for way cheaper than usual.
as a fellow 1050 ti enjoyer, it really depends how long you want to continue to game for. I still have my 1050 ti and a pretty solid option is a gtx 1070 (consistently like 160 on ebay) or even a 1080 (200 on ebay)
I went from the 1050ti to the 1660 when it came out and was very, very happy with the improvement. Paired with a ryzen 5 1600. Now I have the 3060, and that was an insane step up in performance.

I think you picked a great title for the video, the 1660 was never a terrible card mind you, and at the time it was viable card for the price. But in the aftermath of the GPU shortage and subsequent scalper prices, the Super and Ti models can be found for basically the same price, along with high end Pascal cards like the 1070, 1070 Ti, and even 1080. As well as some respectable mid-range AMD cards such as the RX 5600 XT or 5700 non-XT for $10-20 more on average
1650 and 1660 are trash because they're literally just overclocked 1050 Ti and 1060 using Turing architecture; even the 1650 GDDR6 and 1660 Super aren't really much better. Only the 1650 Super and 1660 Ti are actually worth getting since they're much faster than 1050 Ti and 1060 - the 1650 Super is even faster than the 1060 in some games while 1660 Ti trades blows with the 1070.
@@youtubeshadowbannedme you got that so wrong. For overclocked cards the performance gap is really wide. What do you expect from gtx? Do you want it to be better than rtx?

The only game to really struggle for me was Dying Light 2, but I only played it at launch and ended up refunding it due to stuttering
the video of your dig at the 45 second mark is really smooth on the eyes
the 1660ti only costs a few dollars more but it is probably the best budget gpu out there right now. i've bought a used one for around 200 bucks (it feels more because the hungarian forint is suffering from double digit inflation). but it still has its box, warranty, even those little plastic protectors. sure it has no RGB but the price for performance ratio at 1080p is amazing
What a neat dog video!
Weird that you kept talking about some random graphics card for 8 minutes.
The dog is always a nice addition to these videos. Nice benchmark though.
The video quality on the dog simulator is great!
😁
I have a 1660 Super that's served me well during these past two years. I used to jokingly turn on ray-tracing on Control while streaming the game to my friends after setting the game to the lowest quality 720p and it still managed to give me 25-45 fps.
Good video. The BIG problem with the gtx 1660 is that the gtx 1660 Super exists, it costs 5% more and has 25% better performance.
I bought this card and some time later super version was released, but still no regrets I'm using this card for almost 3 years now , with some smart graphics settings I always achieve 60+ fps on all games
I loved your Doge🥰🥰
Please include him often.
Loved the video as well
0:47 very very nice dog. I like this breed. Kind, smart, they like cuddling into you, and they are great hunters too.
Does your dog react to Stray?
Because of the price drop upgraded to 2060 Super - another great card for me for the next 3-5 years!
great timing on this video; I just ordered one 2nd hand off ebay. Pleasantly surprised by your findings thank you for doing this vid 🙂
I have a 1660 in my build. Man it can take any game i throw at it in medium high at 60 fps 1080p. That's more than enough for me to have fun. 🔥🔥.
Still rocking the 1660. Honestly, it's a great card for 1080p that can handle fairly surprising stuff. Doom Eternal runs at around 100 fps for me.
@@wyterabitt2149 the qmax is equivalent
Absolutely beautiful dog
Now with the 3060 i'm going to wait until next gen AMD comes out to build again.
oof the bottleneck, really no point in upgrading
@@HorseWeener 1080p gamer spotted

My 1660 was $200 shipped 3 months ago, I love it and think its a great card.
yeah me too, gaming delight, for a cheap price.
my brother has a 1660, still going strong.
I have rx 570. I dont think I will be upgrading soon seeing the way things are going now.
I'm rocking a gygabyte 1650 for nearly 2 years now (OC version, 2 fans, has a 6pin connector) and it's amazing
now you show up and roast the 1660 in the thumbnail made me chuckle (said thumbnail since I just saw "great" in the title lol)
You’re a menace driving like that on cyberpunk lol
Would you be able to enable power figures in msi afterburner? Interested too see what the cards draw that you review!
Keep up the great content mate!
Man you don’t know how much money you have saved me!! Ty for all you do much appreciated!! Stay blessed y’all
I just picked up the MSI Super version for my daughter's PC for only £120. She's more than happy playing Valorant and Stray with it. I'd like one for myself now.
I will never forget my 9400f and GTX 1660. The gaming pc that got me through the pandemic and pc parts apocalypse.
I have a standard 1660 in my secondary PC and a 1660Ti in my primary PC. I like them a lot.
My System was running on a 1660 from last year summer to this year spring. I was lucky to get one new for 280 Euros, while the entry level Graphiccards where at about 500 Euros. It did a good job in 1080p. I think it was a good gpu back then and even today it is a quite good entry level gpu.
your doggy is very clever lol when you shown him the card he licked his lips knowing a treat was coming lol
well now I will be disappointed if I don't see your dog in all your new videos. He's adorable .
Already got my 1660 from 2020 - just before the Super arrived. Love it - will get something new when I upgrade my Ryzen CPU soon.
I've been watching your channel since 2018 and I have your merch too!
And now you're testing the GPU I have! Love you Steve ❤️
Thank you :)
i just got the Ti version and i must say, it's still very capable for 1080p. next year will be a great time to upgrade to an rtx card with price drops and all
Still having an i7 4790k and the 1660s in a mini itx case with a 400w psu.
Forget the card lol I wanna see a 20min video of your dog playing and having fun
Well spoken. Also you can overclock it don’t forget
But I overclocked my gigabyte GTX 1660 but it only gives 10-12 fps boost only 😔
What do u reckon
@@arjuntrehan48
Some gpu have more headroom I guess. But the bright side is you have a 1660 and not a 1050 so it could be much worse.
And 10fps boost is alot if your talking 100fps territory.
If that’s the case your 1660 is now a 1660ti.
Which is a perfectly capable gpu outside of the broken new release Warzone 2.0!
Warzone 2.0 is 🗑 compared with the original.
Got a 1660 Super for about 250 bucks in June 2022 and it's great, needed to replace my aging 970FTW+, it will be a great backup card when I get a 30 series as my main.
As a RX 570 4GB owner for years, the only realistic upgrade for me is a RX 6600.
Upgrade? Gotta use it for 10 more years minimum.
Just recently upgraded to the RX 6600 from a 4GB RX 570 lol. I wanted to get a worth while upgrade and it definitely was. I hope you get it too buddy
Or look at the 6700 non XT if you can find it.
@@riven4121 I heard some saying that was a mining card with notebook gpu
@@kravenfoxbodies2479 I do believe they're defective 6700 XT dies that they repurposed.
It slots between the 6650 XT and the 6700 XT and readily outperforms the 6650 XT and even the 3060 Ti and can be found for around the same price as a 6650 XT (at least where I am).
Price went down AND it still plays triple A titles at over 60 fps. So it's a contender again imo
Good benchmarks and a good dog. What more could you ask for!
@@raresmacovei8382 yea. I thought 1660 super could've last me like 1 generation but it's clearly not lol. Games just gotten way more demanding even though I reckon last gen games already looks really realistic and crisp.
@@darrens3494 yeah it's pretty much a perfect buy for people like me who's upgrading from 1050 ti or something similar in performance bracket like rx 570.
I got 50 plus frames at 1440p on Red Dead Redemption 2 and it looked awesome on my GTX 1660 Super on High Settings. Always put money into your rig also. I have Ryzen 7 and 32 Gigs of Ram to pump my game performance.
Love the dogs reaction that aint a treat come back with snacks and his face when you did lol
Its been an awesome little card for me, usually get away with a good med/high setting @1440p on a lot of the games i play
I bought a msi 1660 back in early 2021 when I didn't have a gpu and it served its purpose for about a year before I bought a 3060. I was able to play basically any game I wanted at 1080p with no problems.
Great upgrade :)
I have the Gigabyte OC version of this card as during the time I bought it no other GPU was available in my area. It's great specially once I changed platform to a 12th gen i3 though I am planning on replacing it with an RTX 3060 soon
You can get more fps in far cry 6 if you turn off the Ubisoft connect overlay btw.
Then AMD/ Sapphire released the 5600 XT for $50 USD more and made it a no-brainer considering the performance increase.
your videos are so relaxing and interesting to watch, thanks for the great content!
i bought a TUF GAMING OC of this card in 2020 and it never failed me till today
Steve Forza Horizon 5 supports Raytracing in Photomode with the 16* series cards to 👍🏻 I can vouch it works as I still have my 1660 oc 6g and my 1660s Storm X
I've been using my GTX 1660 ti since it released in February 2019 for $279 and its been awesome. i got lucky and got a 1660 ti that overclocks really well.
I paid 920,00 Brazilian Reais on my 1660 gddr5 back in february 2020, just before the covid pandemic hit brazil. For reverence the same exact card cost around 1.800,00 Reais today, it was a bargain, and for that price I can't really complain, its has been able to run every single game in 1080p at mid/high settings.
Mate, great video and what a beutiful dog.
The 1660 cards would be the absolute kings of the 2022 budget rig but nah. The prices just kinda stay dumb and so you might as well stretch just a bit further and buy an RX6600 instead
Was curious if i should upgrade from a 1050ti... i guess ill wait
Your dog is SOOO PRETTY! What's his name?
I got a triple slot, dual cooler SUPER because the Ti has GDDR5 while the SUPER has GDDR6. Because I do more than play games (my DAW uses hardware acceleration where memory speed is important), I opted for the SUPER.
Im running a heavily overclocked 1660 that i got during the crypto boom (after i sold my rx580 for just about 40$ less)
(the ti / super cost another hunge more or smthng)
Its an amazing card and the addition of barely using any electricity is a bonus.
Some of us dont want space heaters that cause our rooms to warm up by 5 degrees when gaming
Edit: 2 years of warranty is a bonus
Had to settle for an rx580 when stock started disappearing lol.
Wasn't a 1660 left in the country it looked like, and snagged the last rx580 before they were gone as well.
Soon as the crypto boom started they were like gold dust lol
Nice to see no man's sky. Runs on a huge variety of kit.
GPU purchasing tip:
Wait until a now GPU gets released.
Everyone will want it, and sell their old ones, thereby creating a huge aftermarket where the previous-gen GPUS can be bought for way cheaper than usual.
Hey randomgaminghd! You should do another viewer pc rig video! I always liked those!
nice video! i was wondering what should i upgrade from a gtx 1050ti?
Get an rx 580 gb, they're quite decent
as a fellow 1050 ti enjoyer, it really depends how long you want to continue to game for. I still have my 1050 ti and a pretty solid option is a gtx 1070 (consistently like 160 on ebay) or even a 1080 (200 on ebay)
@@balake. yeah because 4gb Vram these days aint enough anymore, the 1070 is another good choice
@@balake. thanks for the advice I will look into the 1070

I have a 1660S and its honestly held up greatly in the 2+ years I've had it now! I'm getting an i7-9700K later this week and (hopefully) a new GPU in a couple of months.
Why would you go for a 9th gen CPU, the 12400 outperforms the 9700K and sets you relatively futureproof.
@@daemiax He's probably have an existing system he just needs to upgrade. The 9700K costs around 400 dollars in my country lmao haha
Got a GTX 1660 for 70 Usd on ebay. For that price I figured, why not? Honestly wasn't expecting a huge difference from my aging 970 but honestly I'm surprised. The fps boost has been quite substantial. I think it might be due to maxwell architecture (and pascal for that matter) having poor DX12 implementation.
