  • Hey Warriors,
Let’s talk about my treatment, for Stage IV melanoma back in 2008-2014 era. “Melanoma does not discriminate by age, race or gender. In ages 30-39, melanoma is the fifth most commonly diagnosed form of cancer. The incidence of people under 30 developing melanoma is increasing faster than any other demographic group, soaring by 50% in women since 1980.” -melanoma.org
I have been blessed to have health care accessible to me throughout my battle and everyday. It definitely has a lot of room for improvement but it help keep me alive when I needed it most.
Cancer care is not available to everyone, health care isn’t available to everyone and in the u.s. we should be able to get good quality healthcare. We pay the highest price, through my husband’s works, for a family of four and yet I am constantly struggling to get the insurance to cover maintenance care for me. Insurance has ruled our lives for decades, needing to have the best insurance for the best doctors. How is it that I’m paying the premium amount, yet they find reasons to keep me from staying healthy. You’d think they’d want to have me cancer free, it’s less financially for them to worry about.
Beyond me, at least half of the world’s population cannot obtain essential health services, according to a new report from the World Bank and WHO. And each year, large numbers of households are being pushed into poverty because they must pay for health care out of their own pockets.
Currently, 800 million people spend at least 10 percent of their household budgets on health expenses for themselves, a sick child or other family member. For almost 100 million people these expenses are high enough to push them into extreme poverty, forcing them to survive on just $1.90 or less a day. The findings, released today in Tracking Universal Health Coverage: 2017 Global Monitoring Report, have been simultaneously published in Lancet Global Health.
