I think the music selection may have put off some people but most of the dislikes are usually by people who have no interest in art but were recommended this content by TH-cam so disliking it helps their personal recommendations. It isn't always malicious.
or maybe because gouache isn't actually supposed to be used as watercolours??? if you use it as watercolours, it'll become less and less opaque, therefore loosing it's quality. they should just use some good watercolours and maybe a few gouache colors to make the painting pop (eyelashes perhaps, some highlights)
or maybe how she approached us in the beginning of the video! people don’t usually like to see skin and tight underwear especially when they’re expecting to see art
I just learned a lot from watching you and I have a BA in art. You have a real gift. This layering method is exactly the same I use for alcohol markers.
“I have a BA in art.” I don’t mean to sound rude here because this is just my personal opinion, but honestly that doesn’t really say much. I went to college for art as well, and it was a complete waste of time and money that I’m still paying for some 17+ yrs later. Unless you know absolutely nothing about art or how to make art OR you’re going into a career that requires a degree for info that you will have a harder time learning otherwise (for example, a career in digital animation), it IS actually useless! The most I got out of it all was the social interaction of the critiques and time to actually be able to paint. I can’t say I learned anything new or anything that I couldn’t have learned elsewhere for free and/or on my own! You can learn so much more being self taught and not have to jump through someone else’s hoops for a piece of paper that says you did such a good job! Being told that you’re more talented than your painting professor (who had been teaching for some 17ish years) directly by them, put some things into perspective for me that while education IS important, a degree is not a requirement to be good at something like art. Had I taken that same time I invested in college and put it to learning on my own, without having to drive an hour to class 5 days a week and be gone all day long, I could have learned so much more! I have learned far more since then about art as well just by making art and applying what I have learned by being self taught and by watching others teach it especially on free resources like YT here than I possibly ever could have by sitting in a studio room drawing still life after still life or sculpting eggs over and over again.
I just want to say that this video helped me understand not only gouache but also to crack a mental wall I've had with digital painting for... years and years. so thank you for being so thorough!!
Oh my goodness!!! Inspiration I’m defo trying this out. Thanks for sharing. Can you please do a video on darker skin tones. I’m struggling to paint skin tones but this video helps me a lot.
Thank you so much Haze!! Having used watercolour as a medium i have been hesitant to use gouache due to its opacity! Your tutorial is very inspiring! Love the technique of using water brush to blend the hard edges!!
i love your art its making me want to try doing portraits more patiently like in the beginning its very simple and by the end it looks so beautiful and unreal! im a new subscriber and i hope u get many more subs ;D your art is soooo prettyyy
Wow that was incredible, I am a self thought beginner in watercolors/couache and can tell your tutorial helped me a lot understanding how this medium works 💙❤️
I'm a watercolour painter but I struggle to control Gouache, Acrylic and Oils. It was nice to see your technique! Would love to see more traditional art!
Kellalizard for the longest time I couldn’t understand gouache until I realize any watercolor mixed with white IS gouache. Provided the white has some degree of opacity
Amazing tutorial, thank you! I was wondering what paper you recommend? I see this involves heavy amounts of water washes and was wondering how you combat the damage that tends to do?
I finally uploaded the skin tone palette tutorial! Watch it here - th-cam.com/video/cEaqNY-Ppd4/w-d-xo.html
Stunning! You inspired me to take out my paint again!
I watched you do the entire process and yet I still sit here wondering "How!?"
