It was actually one of my underrated favorites from BOTW. When I heard it in the wind temple, immediate goosebumps. Don't remember for sure but I probably cheered 🗣️
Vah Medoh's dungeon theme is absolutely my favorite in all of BOTW. Got chills hearing how melancholic Shrine B's theme is. With the Vah Medoh attack theme, Revali's themes, Rito Village, how Vah Medoh's morse code doesn't even start until later, and how excited the music is in Shrine Z, Revali easily wins as my favorite champion. They gave him so much character through music alone, sadly most of it goes completely unnoticed and people just boil his character down to a crappy trope since they don't tend to pay attention to motifs and stuff.
@@Aoryenit’s really because his character is totally changed in the English version of the game. His rival coded behavior in Japanese was traded for the disagreeable and reluctant associate in English because it’s more recognizable than the former in the West. I actually didn’t like him, but was fond of him in a “he’s still a butthole” kinda way, but after learning that he’s different in the Japanese version, everything clicked and I truly love his character. Quest With Aaron has a great video on Revali’s character if you wanna check it out yourself.
You should really listen to the Age of Calamity version of Attack on Vah'Medoh which is called "Vah Medoh Looms", one of the most epic and impressive track in all of gaming in my opinion. (Listen to a version with the 2 phases of course)
God I wish this temple was harder, the whole build-up from when you start out in the Rising Islands up to the Colgera fight has got to be some of the most well-directed video game play ever.
i think Revali's theme is slightly different, the thing you are pointing out is the beginning of dragon roost i think. i could be totally wrong tho, there's plenty of overlap
0:13 _Once, a god fell from heaven, stilling the Hebra Winds._ _The heavens grew lifeless, just as the air below thinned._ _With the world in upheaval, we pledged to help the lord._ _A line of ships soaring, built as a passage skyward._ _The god ascended to heaven, leaving behind an ark._ _Its winds brought us new life, thanks to its great, divine spark._
This is eerily similar to the origin story of Amaterasu in Ōkami. I won't spoil it for those who don't know so you'll have to look it up or play the game on your own time.
I have to wonder, given that the zonai, in this part of the zelda timeline/story at least, are said to have godlike power and left again to the heavens... maybe this is how a fleet of them left? brought stillness to hebera and then fled when "the upeval" began? maybe that was demises first attack in this timeline? or maybe this tells of nayru? though i doubt it. maybe also, "skyward" could be setup for a retcon of sorts. with "skyward bound" taking now two meanings dependent on the story.
I never really liked the Wind Temples in the franchise but this one despite being so short and simple I absolutely loved for good reason; this temple was properly themed as a temple of wind. From the ascent into the heavens, using the wind to reach each sky Island and eventually the airships and the ark itself; the fact that the temple itself is in the sky and relies entirely on wind to approach it and solve its puzzles. Nintendo finally made a proper Temple honoring the power of wind and I love it, and this theme just makes it all the better.

I really have to hand it to this temple, between the composition, the scaling to it and the entirety of it becoming the final boss room it really hit the zelda dungeon formula out of the park
It was so creepy, but at the same time, it felt awesome I love the wind temple, even if it is one of the more basic temples. It was the first one I did, and this soundtrack was great
The assumption is that this is the first dungeon the player will do. This sets the dark tone for the main story in the game surrounding the regional disturbances. The music emphasizes the desperation of the Rito for their survival, which starts musically in the village, the ascent, then this, finally the boss battle. It's part of what seems like a symphony.
This is easily my favorite track from the new game. It stunned me the first time I played through the wind temple. It's just gorgeous from start to finish.
I didn't appreciate this song much until I put on a TotK mix during finals last semester and this played and I was like "o h. I can't remember where this played but I feel like I'm on a lonely cliff somewhere high above the storm clouds, and it's cold and mournful" **checks the song** "Why don't I remember this I love it,,,"
These themes along with the minor lookout landing theme that has some of hyrule castle mixed in there is what made me want to search for all these hidden details. I love the BotW champion themes poking in here and there. It's such a nice call back.
What you're hearing is an augmented chord, which is a major chord with a raised 5th. It has a mysterious and dissonant quality. It's reminiscent of the chords that the Tatooine theme opens with, which are themselves taken from Igor Stravinsky's _The Rite of Spring_ (the first chords of the introduction to Part 2: "The Sacrifice").
It's not just perfect it's a master piece once again Nintendo knows how to make a good Zelda game I wish I was in the Tears of the Kingdom Universe reality is a joke man.
Similar to the Construct Factory, I think the lead-up to the Wind Temple was more interesting than the dungeon itself. Ascending higher and higher into the sky, then dropping into the thundercloud was amazing. I did like the music and overall theme of the Wind Temple, but once I was actually there, it felt a bit anti-climactic.
I wouldn’t call it “anti-climactic” but I definitely found my self brute-force puzzle-solving when I got to the wind temple. Since it was my first temple I was hoping that I’d be more akin to a traditional zelda dungeon - once I realized it wasn’t I was just trying to force myself to the waypoints. Definitely not the intended way to enjoy that dungeon. But it wasn’t what I’d hoped it would be. All that said - this is by far the best build up into the actual temple itself. I was itching for a unique and intense main quest like this for the rest of the game.
Yeah that's the thing with buildup sections, they BUILT UP the player's expectations, and if the game doesn't deliver on those expectations it feels like a letdown.
@@princekamoro3869I think the temple delivered nicely. The puzzles were good and one of them stumped me a little. And the vibe was amazing. Colgera is perfect too. I’d say the water temple was more disappointing after the buildup.

I swear I couldn’t even hear this when I replayed totk, Tulin’s ai kept shooting at an enemy that was probably a mile away and wouldn’t stop, even when we were inside the ship itself, which meant I had to listen to the battle theme for 90% of the dungeon
