First things first, I'm so glad I wore headphones while playing this temple at night. It made me feel like I was really there. Also, I find it a funny, that pretty much all the other sages stayed and journeyed by your side (like literally glued next to you) to the temples' entrances, but Sidon's like: "Whelp I'll see you at the next checkpoint buddy!!" and leaves you by yourself
@@pigglesgoomshby7249true, he must've just not cooperated with the physics and got stuck in walls and whatnot. That actually might explain why the water temple itself was so short.
I really felt like the Ancient Zora Waterworks would have made a better Water Temple than the actual temple. Maybe it's because I did the Wind Temple first, but having another temple in the sky felt a little forced. But I guess yet another "control the flow of water" gimmick would have been overdone. Admittedly, this temple utilized the low gravity so it did at least offer something that's not been done in previous water temples.
I wonder if they originally planned to put it down there, since then there's be one of the four regional phenomena in each of the Sky, Surface, Caves, and Depths.
@@reyhan2006-g5lYeah like finding the source of the black thing was in the sky, powering up an enemy in the cave that you enter before going into the actual temple
Crazy how Sidon's quest is my least favorite due to the dungeon and boss not being as good as the others, but it's still accompanied by such an incredible track. They really set the bar high with this game.
Same, i feel like it was all buildup with awesome music when the temple didn't deliver, especially because Mucktorock is overly hard. And Sidons sage ability sucks. How could you do that to my favorute character nintendo
I think there's 2 reasons why the Water Temple is in the sky: "The circle of water" where the temple represents the clouds providing water. And I think the Switch would never be able to render a temple in the water, or will struggle doing it.
Unpopular Opinion: Mucktorok was my second favourite of the bosses, and the Water Temple isn't as bad as people say. The low gravity makes it an extremely fun boss and temple, and the puzzles weren't as hard as I'd like them but still make you think and are require some creativity that makes you feel good in the end. Sidon's powers were basically designed to fight Mucktorok, which makes the fight a lot of fun. I do have a light bias to the Zora though, as Mipha was my favourite champion and I love everything about them, so that might've swayed my opinion.
yeah while i personally think mucktorok is my least favorite, i do like the water temple a bit more than the fire temple but wind and lightning are still my favorites. water really isnt as bad imo it gets too much hate
People hate the water temple??? I didn’t like Mucktorok as much as the other bosses but Zelda broke the mold this time by making a GOOD water temple! The music, the zero gravity, our boy Sidon, all so atmospheric!
@@fishinwizard6 although it may not be the least favourite of the community, I've seen a whole lot of hate towards it. It's mainly due to it being 'not creative'
Yes! But something interesting is that this leitmotif is not only in the Ancient Waterworks and Water Temple, but is also heard in every single Temple theme. This track originates from Spirit Tracks, and it’s called “Sacred Duet”, you can also hear it at the very start of the last trailer for TotK.
Sidon's giant ass model probably loved to be uncooperative here during developement. Can't blame them for shortening the dungeon so players didnt have to suffer through the jank.
I’m gonna be honest, in terms of the Water Temple itself, it has to be my least favorite. At first the music really fell flat for me as well. Doing this one after Wind and Fire left me wanting for more. The only phase of the song that I actually noticed while doing the temple was the final phase. I still love the song, but in terms of Temple construction, still left a little to be desired. Loved the idea of low-g, but the uninteresting formatting made me wish for an underwater temple somehow. Also has the worst boss, so it doesn’t have a whole lot going for it.
Okay, I have more opinions now. This theme is absolutely incredible, but I still think that the Water Temple itself doesn’t fit the sincerity, the grandiose, and desperation of the piece. Maybe that’s why I didn’t notice it entirely at first, was because the Temple’s puzzles and atmosphere didn’t captivate me. I know I’m being hard on this temple, and I still think it’s not the worst we could’ve gotten, but for a Water Temple in TotK, I think it could tried being a little more. Why is the Wind Temple clearly the tutorial story and boss, but they treated the WT as the tutorial TEMPLE. It drives me crazy. If the temple had been anywhere close to the Lightning Temple, I could’ve comfortably called it my favorite, as it easily has my favorite plot line in terms of character. (The LT is my fav for gameplay)
@@joypink5599 completely agree. water temple just felt out of place and i wish it could've been better since the zora are my favorite race. and lightning is also my favorite for gameplay

Doing the Sky Temple first ruined this dungeon for me, luckily Gorondia and the Lightning Temple made up for this lack luster one with a very annoying boss.
I think the Gorons had the worst one, since it’s just a thing that makes them not work and doesn’t affect the environment at all. Unless you mean worse as in narratively and how it affected their people, which then I would like to direct you to the Gerudo and the sand shroud/Gibdo invasion.
I love how you can hear the divine beast and sometimes even the champions theme during the final phases of the temples
Yeah all of them have the champions themes and the attack on whatever divine beast they were

I’m guessing Sidon looked really goofy and janky when trying to follow Link through the platforming sections lmao

this is also a great point. i have played mostly without headphones, hand-held. It's been disappointing. I wish we could turn up the music tracks.
He didn't want players spending too much time with him bc he was abt to get married 😅
I feel like Riju was mostly the same way, but again that's probably due to the environment and having to be around set pieces in the desert.
Doing this dungeon at night makes it infinitely more atmospheric
yes
I wish I had known, I did at day and so quickly that only a few hours passed
The first terminal of this song is good for you when you’re sleeping at night
I did every single temple at night time and it was glorious!
doing it at night in game WHILE its night irl is literally the best thing ever
I always love the "zora sound." The mix of both the piano and harp, opens a sense of wonder.

The low gravity is also a neat workaround to simulate being underwater, while still being in the open air.
Doing an assignment at 3AM with this music makes me feel so much better
The process of getting to this temple was more fun then the temple itself, honestly. Music for it is still a banger, though.

I just noticed the third terminal theme shares a leitmotif with the Mucktorok theme

Phase 3 sounds like swan lake wow
I noticed that too when I did the temple! The melody of phase 3 is actually the exact same as swan lake but with the rhythm mixed around a bit lol
Water works makes me think of monopoly
Can you make this 10,000 hours long
How does such a bad dungeon have such a good theme? Also, love the references to Attack on Vah Ruta.
