Thanks for that helpful technique to overcome a hitch.
In my neck of the woods (i.e. decades ago), we never called dropping the hands and then bringing them back up to start the swing as a hitch. The term hitch was reserved to describe the action of the hands dropping and never coming back up, causing that hitter to be exceptionally susceptible to a high fastball as it created a severe uppercut making proper contact with that high fastball very unlikely.

Matt, I’ll trade you some Antonelli swag for some YouGoPro swag. I’ll also trade you your swing for my swing 😂 (don’t look up my batting average on baseball cube) 😅

Thanks Matt so much. I’ve always had a bad hitch in my swing, but lately I’ve been getting a lot better at getting my elbow behind my hand. These drills are really gonna help me gain muscle memory

I'm gunna try your. tips. any other tips are appreciated. I had him choke up today like 4 to 5 inches seemed to help.

What do you do with a player who does not a hitch hitting off a tee or in the cage, but does in a game with live pitching?

Funny how things work, was literally working with a kid on something very similar yesterday and then this video gets dropped today! Progressed well, isn't dropping his hand nearly as much but we will see where he is next time we work out.

How do I keep my elbow from going up and instead trying to drive it straight to the ball?

Matt: I would love to hear your thoughts on age appropriate workouts. My son is going into his 12 yr old year for LL, besides maybe some band training or throwing with a towel, should he lift some light weights, throw a 6lb medicine ball etc. Thanks for all you do. -JNorm

"Don’t worry if you hitch a little. Everybody says it’s awful, but York hitched, Foxx
hitched, Greenberg hitched. I dropped down a little, as a cocking action, but the
important thing is not to drop your hands too much, because you’ll have to bring
them back up and that costs time and can disturb your rhythm." TSOH

A lot of players use that hitch/bat tip as momentum when they swing.

Batting seems hard to learn, just put the Bat on the Ball. I wouldn’t have the patience to constantly be changing my Batting stance.
