Love it. In theory all movement should be stable and from proximal to distal. A good thought is remembering all movement comes from spine and neuro.. everything radiates from our "core/trunk".. if top of tree sways then it creates weakness and timing/rhythm issues.. Same for pitchers with too much head movement..
Hey Matt I play travel baseball as a freshman and the highest velocity I’ve seen playing major is 73 mph. Today I’ve went live at my Highschool against the best pitcher on the varsity team and he was throwing 88+ and I was late. Any tips that can prepare me for future at bats?
Matt is so good he starts an instructional video and the baseball Gods create and new drill! If you go to swing and are blinded by the sun, your head is swaying back! if you are not blinded your head is not moving back!
Great info, but you really only mentioned the head for about 5 seconds. Great explanation of the load and the stride, however. Thank you very much for all of these videos. You are a wealth of knowledge and wisdom.
I have been working out with my football team. We do agility and heavy lifting. I've heard that building up a lot muscle is bad for baseball, especially pitching. Is that true? We do a lot of shoulder exercises with heavy weight and I want to make sure it is truly helping. I want to make sure Im as strong as I can be, but I want to make sure I still have full flexibility when I pitch, field, and hit. Thanks! Edit: also want to prevent injury when I throw
Matt, I have a question I wanted to get your input on. Are there any machines or devices that can measure foot pressure in the baseball swing? I remember quit a few years ago there was a video where a guy had a machine that you could stand on while you hit and it measured how much pressure was in each foot. I think that would be huge to see a Mike Trout and know exactly how much weight is on each foot and where during the load, swing and at Contact, then compare to others working on their swing. I have been trying to find that old video somewhere with no luck. Just curious what your thoughts are on this. I just found something called a Swing Catalyst for Baseball but seems to be used more for golf? baseball.swingcatalyst.com
I think my problem with hitting is I stand to close to the ball...after I swing.

Excellent. This helps a lot with coaching my 9U hitters.

Hey matt, any tips on how to stop myself from getting under the ball?
post a video of your swing and I could probably tell you what is wrong.
Keep a tall back side
I have a problem where I sometimes drift forward during my load and swing but I’d don’t sway back. Any advice

try that move (hips) while keeping the shoulders from turning in and see how you like that
