      It depends on what Branch owned the truck.Most to all USMC Trucks come with Lockers,alot of ones in the Army usually don't.

    So many things wrong with this video, 1 I will start with the ctis, even in current vehicles ctis rarely works. 2 mileage and hour meters are rarely accurate even after rebuild3. This vehicles are rode hard and put away wet so odds are that's not the original Cummins 8.3 and not the original trans. 4 lastly these can be bought ALL DAY at gov auction for 3-8,000 dollars so your asking price of nearly 15k is ridiculous, because this truck was manufactured to work break and get patched back together for next to no experience and for next to nothing in cost. I have been in the army for 7 years now and wouldn't touch an a3 for 15k if my life depended on it and this is coming from someone who owns a 1970 am general m35a2 c with the LD 465 "whistler" multi-fuel.

      @pearljamfan99  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm not sure why you are referencing M35's when this is a M923. I can only give the information regarding the vehicle as it is. Im fully aware that odometers are regularly replaced, and I've had military truck that the CTIS system doesn't work at all. This one was working at the time I made this video and when the new owner purchased it. I've owned several deuce and a halfs of varying configurations, but this is a 5-ton sir. Also, this video is almost 5 years old, and it sold about a month after this video was posted. Some people don't want to go through the work of dealing with government auction sites and have it transported, etc., so they are willing to pay for convenience.

      I can't help but agree with everything you said. I too was in the armed forces as a driver and we drove the shit outta the equipment all the time. Rode hard and put away wet doesn't quite cover it. A bunch of twenty-somethings bored and always trying to out-do each other at the expense of the wheeled equipment. Lots of hidden defects, improper service and maintainence all the time.

      There is no reason to replace the Engine or Transmission on these trucks,most Military Trucks see a 10,000-55,000 Mile Range before retirement,and yet Big Rigs across the United States put over a million miles and show little to no abuse at all because nearly everything on a Diesel is oil based.
      All 5 Ton Trucks regardless if you want to argue or complain are in a $10K range and higher,a Duece is what price range you mentioned.

    Are these 8.3s able to run on used motor oil

    • @pearljamfan99
      @pearljamfan99  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. They are a Caterpillar produced engine. The old deuce an a half engines could run on just about anything.

    • @rileykirk11
      @rileykirk11 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      pearljamfan99 yes they can. If filtered. And no 5 ton engine is a cat they are both Cummins, either 855ci n/a or 8.3 turbo

    • @caasiwms
      @caasiwms 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, they cannot. This is an M923A2, not a Deuce and a half (M35). The original Deuce (M35) had the multifuel engine, but I believe it was made by Continental. I know for a fact it was never made by Cummins or Caterpillar. The multifuel engines can run on diesel (preferred), jet fuel, kerosene, or gasoline mixed with motor oil (for lubrication). They could not run on straight motor oil. This M9 has a Cummins 8.3L diesel engine. It is not multifuel, and it is not made by Cat.

      @@pearljamfan99 Caterpillar never built Engines for 5 Tons,in the Military,during this time,the M35A3's had a 3116 Caterpillar and the MTV's had a C7 Caterpillar.
