Attempting to Overtake EVERYONE in this Crazy Race

- I started this MTB race behind 80 riders and tried to overtake them all! THe Mega Avalanche is bonkers. A mass start enduro race down Alp D'Huez, starting on a glacier! So happy with this result and ready for finals on Sunday. The enduro bike is prime and ready for some rough downhill!

When you lost 4th place, (which you regained) to that fellow competitor, it gave a real perspective of the speed and corners. Absolutely amazing.
That dude was a true descender. This dude had heart and could climb. Marvelous, and on a Huffy. From Walmart.

My respect for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place grew astronomically after seeing your effort for a 4th place.
mostly because he was trapped behind some slow mfs in the beginning so no chance to catch up
@@onoybeuhthat's exactly the things that makes 1st,2nd and 3rd place so hard to get. Or any race in general. You think the 1st placer didn't have any problems?
@@lordlopikong6940 bruh based on the video perspective... the 1st 2nd and 3rd placer must be placed in the front row or mostly close to that... so obviously they will struggle less compared to the man in the video which is placed near the back row or middle row... His bike was top tier but he never saw the 1st, 2nd and 3rd which states that they probably were in the front row...
I was just thinking that they probably had a much better position than him, so to me their outcome doesn’t necessarily match the difficulty to get their position
@@kaushikdr We can't make such an assumption because we don't know how ahead 1st, 2nd, 3rd winners started. They might have put more effort and we must consider that possibility too

Nah it isn't - it's close to the shortest times that road cyclists race. Easy to spank the MTB guys on fitness.
That was a fucking great performance Jono!!! The top 3 definitely didn't get bogged down in the crowd over the first 1/3 of the race like you did.

Going at that speed on rough terrain without loosing control and making sharp turns on gravel is absolutely incredible.
Never cared for downhill biking, never watched a race, never known anyone who does it, never thought coming across a random youtube video of a stranger doing this sport would be so enthralling. Wow!! Couldn't take my eyes off the screen for 10 minutes and 35 seconds. Bravo 🙏👌 I was rooting for you from the first pedal

Have loved cycling my whole life and a year back, got obsessed with long distance running but everytime I see mtb races, I'm always left wondering how insane it is to go that fast over a terrain like that. I get nervous just running over a small muddy section on paved roads lol.
Can't imagine what it's like to cycle downhill a mountain. Nuts man, my utmost respect to you, and all the mtb riders and trail runners out there. Thank you for continuing to push the boudaries of what is possible everyday.

ha yeah I forgot/didn't realise this was just the qualifier whilst he was pushing to make the podium & fighting to maintain/regain 4th - thought he'd just cut out huge chunks of course that I can remember from other Mega Valanche t-to-b race run footage from riders like Kilian Bron !
The qualifier race is shorter, tougher and almost more intense than the main race. In the main race you have to manage your efforts to make it to the end, when in the qualifier you'll be at 100% for the whole race
Dude the line you took at 2:26 was a bit of a shock. I thought you were going over the handlebars but it seemed to go surprisingly smoothly.

Such a great performance, and, not taking anything away from the winner, starting position plays a big part with clean track and line choice vs being in the crowd.
