I can usually spot a Geordie dialect, and the proper upper class London accent is I think universally recognized. The received pronunciation and all.

Oh definitely. For me folk songs are about the few that I get away with for a Scottish accent. Most times I actually flip into rp British or American to sing, can't speak in the accent though but I naturally flip when singing. I do singing lessons though so it's probably linked to imitation and how I pronounce vowels to more easily reach certain notes etc.
