I was sponsored by GT in Portugal when Voelker and Blyther came here. Some of my best memories was riding with them. They are the greatest and nicest people. Great interview! Great to see Pete too. So good shared memories!
As an Irish BMX rider in the late 80's early 90's when the sport had completely died, getting a copy of Aggroman was mind blowing and seeing Dave etc was a huge inspiration to keep a small collection of friends riding. Really enjoyed this podcast, great to hear Dave and Pete's stories and thoughts on such a wonderful era for the sport. Two down to earth fun guys with passion.
So damn awesome!!! Man this podcast keeps getting better. You’re doing it right guys! Rooftop with the occasional visit is a good touch. Dave Voelker was one of the first guys to get our crew going in the early 90’s. Thanks Dave!!!! When is RICK MOLITERNO coming on!!??
Mannn, I looooove listening to the older dudes. So awesome hearing this especially since I got into riding around 97’ I finally found the show Crank and taped every episode for the next 2 years. More old school dudes!
My friends grandpa took me to a GT show in Monee, IL in the mid 90s for the next 10-15 years my life was bmx. Lord Voelker put on a hell of a show that day and a few months later I had my first bmx bike. Dave will always be a legend.
legendary podcast. i remember getting that issue of Ride with the rock abubaca when I was 10 years old and it blew my mind. awesome to finally hear some voelker stories. praise the lord
This was a such a good episode, Mike is such a wealth of knowledge. Disappointed in myself for never watching agroman. Need Tj on one episode, and Losey. R.I.P Posh
@t1bmxfbm a whole RideBMX mag episode with Fudger, Losey, Mulligan and the other names that are escaping me with an Escamilla type to run the questions would be the best. That magazine corrupted so many childhoods
Pete was great on this episode the passion and love he still has for BMX after all these years is awesome to see. He is correct that Vans contest in HB was insane.
Sick episode. One of the coolest things about BMX Freestyle is how young it is. A lot of the first riders are still here to tell the stories of the beginning. That is a super unique thing and I love hearing the stories of the roots. Thanks for doing this and thanks for your contributions Dave.
I think he came to my middle school in Massachusetts in like 95’. That show changed how me and a few friends looked at riding. We still ride all the bikes to this day.
Only time I ever met/rode with Dave was when myself and a few others would hit the local areas of Ontario, CA with Blyther. Brian was my absolute idol . I rode a Dyno Pro Compe @ the time and when I got to hit State Street wall ride with him, Dave, and a few other dudes I was blown away Dave was a mad man!.. Back then there was no internet or cell phones. We'd haul ass around town and when we'd hit a 7'11 or whatever BmxPlus or Ride would have Brian or Dave all over the mag and they were looking and laughing.. It was a very amazing time to be riding...
I remember being a kid in the 90s and the gt air show did a whole week of shows at my local fair and having my mind blown watching Dave go so high on the qt before the box jump
Must be a Lord to be king! Dave was my favorite freestyle guy. I raced BMX, California pro Mongoose, that my best friend gave to ride because he had a cheery Harp RS1 Group1. Long rain Freestyle Lord!!!!
Growing up Dave was the tough as nails dude we looked up to who always pulled out all the stops in competition. He is go big or go home personified. This deserves way more hits!
The lord is just wonderful like Eddie fiola never get bored of his stories, what a great dude , rooftop is seriously awsome also.. Jeff Watson and Steve bio Bennett some of the first pics I ever had on my wall back in dull England in 81
I switched from my GT Pro XL to a Dyno Pro Compe in "86/"87 when I stopped racing (still have both). I loved Dyno from the git go, and it fit me really well. My friend John Alvey got in BMX Plus while racing a Dyno at the nationals in Reno. I met Dave in Ft. Colins Colorado when he was hitching a ride with Kuwahara to wherever he was headed. I got to watch Dino DeLuca in Pocatello Idaho when they came with Dyno. The vibe with those guys, and that time is nothing like today. So good, all of this stuff, so good. (I'm at the GT site now scoping the 29" Dyno :) ). P.S. I NEED the "Albino Jumping God" t-shirt .. white on white :) .. c'mon "See a need, fill a need" ..
The mood kinda lowered a bit when Voelker mentioned his first wife and daughter passing away. you can see how sad Voelker got.......................................... Such a horrible feeling. God bless you Voelker and Pete. thanks for the memories hey rooftop, you in there as well.
Thank you so much for this. I've been riding since '87 and seeing you pay homage to our heroes from the early days means a lot. Also: Where can I get a Go T-shirt like Rooftop has? That's wicked!
Pete whatsup! We used to live with Ron Bonner and rode together when you were still in Orlando. So good to see you in this interview and your still in love with BMX. Wicked great episode!
Funny. I met Pete at Bonner's house. One other time at some contest at a sk8 park in town. The concrete one back then. Forgot the name. I was from out of town. Pete is a total legend and had always been a street riding idol of mine. Deserving of his own Unclicked.
This.... what a fucking lineup! all of you right there round that table have played a huge part in not only BMX but my life too! Loved every second of this! Both Pete & Dave shared some awesome insight! keep em comin \m/
"Who's got the set of allen wrenches?" - Looking back, I feel like somebody with a "name" brand could have made a mint selling components that were adjustable with a small crescent wrench (or pliers, or vice grip). "New for 87, the Peregrine Hobo Stem".
da hora, sou brasileiro e numa das apresentações da equipe da GT aqui no Brasil, tive a privilégio de conhecer os pilotos e a sorte de ser presenteado com camisa do Lord Voelker
I got my first BMX bike in 1983 - it was a used Huffy Pro Thunder. I get where, compared to 90's and later bikes, 80's "name" freestyle bikes seem like dept. store bikes, and there were definitely some horrible parts, like Z-rims, and brakes barely worked on Tuffs, skinny 1.75" tires, etc. But they were still a big step up from 1980's department store bikes, which seemed to be made out of the same metal as car antennas.
I have photos of the gt bikes 😅team jumping over me at state fair n dakota back in the day mike parenti and dave the lord gave me free gear jumped over me standing up on their skinny box jump 😊🚴😍🌝 love biking all i do ride all day everyday usually
back in the mid 80's i had every kid in the neighborhood riding coaster brake hubs with the brake shoes pulled out - ghetto freecoasters 20 years early
When they start thinking about female freestyler hall of fame, they really should give the firsts spots to: Kris Dauchy and Corey Coffey, and then Nina Buitrago. IMHO
Dave you were amazing sorry about that Knee you too Rooftop what’s good about both of you guys as you never did anything halfway it was either all the way full send or nothing
Talking about the hall of fame and saying there are 50 people who should be in there from the 80s? To me why aren't they? Put them all in if they deserve it
Meet Dave at BMX.. event back the 90s... St el Monte ca.. he performed.. a great show.. but he looks way different that how l meet him.. but he is a legend.... ❤
Really interested in Jeff Watson. Even digging deeper it seems like there is only 25 seconds of video out there. Someone with vhs collections has to have more from that session.
I was sponsored by GT in Portugal when Voelker and Blyther came here. Some of my best memories was riding with them. They are the greatest and nicest people. Great interview! Great to see Pete too. So good shared memories!
Love these rooftop podcast they go so hard for us 40+ guys
These pods with legends who lived the early days of BMX into the mid-school are so rad. I'd love Moliterno on one day!

"The Albino Jumping God" I would totally wear that shirt🤣 Hail Lord Voelker!🤟🤟
Lord Voelker and the Disgustman, this was exactly what i needed! Rooftops always a treat!
And the story of BACO would be great to hear from someone. Mid west stuff hey!
All hail lord Voelker !
Godfather🙌
Damn it !!! You beat me to it. I’m gonna do it any way. ALL HAIL LORD VOELKER !!!
Mannn, I looooove listening to the older dudes. So awesome hearing this especially since I got into riding around 97’ I finally found the show Crank and taped every episode for the next 2 years.
More old school dudes!
so cool to see Dave and Pete , I am 51 and loving this podcast
Voelker is the man. Grew up watching him ride. 🤯 Rooftop was the perfect co host. 👍
Brings me back to the 90s stealing these guys photos out of bmx plus in my school library
This was great. Love getting to learn more about the history of freestyle, especially the late 80’s through the 90’s.
Yes! Thanks for making this happen! So good.
So good to know more about these legends ! Thousand thanks guys, keep it making it happen, give us way to support the project ❤

I'm of the age that idolized Dave when the first Dyno tour came thru town. What a ride he has had. Awesome to see Pete on here too!
I met Dave Voelker at Dave Whites house like 10 years ago and he was such a cool friendly guy. Complete legend and so deserving of all his accolades.
Sick episode. One of the coolest things about BMX Freestyle is how young it is. A lot of the first riders are still here to tell the stories of the beginning. That is a super unique thing and I love hearing the stories of the roots. Thanks for doing this and thanks for your contributions Dave.

No fuckin way, the lord himself. Ive been waiting for this podcast to drop.
Super cool to see an interview with my childhood hero! Great addition with Rooftop and Pete as well 👍🏼
Y’ll need to get fuzzy hall I don’t know if you would deal with the race side Warwick Stevenson & Robbie Miranda & Neil Woods.
Thank you Ryan, you really out did yourself here. A true GOAT. And Mike, I still have a Matt Hoffman wall. LOL
th-cam.com/video/aWu-tAMtkns/w-d-xo.html
Haven't even started listening and it's gonna be a BANGER! Dave's the goat ❤
Lord Voelker was my hero as a kid and now still a hero of mine. RESPECT
For real, he’s what got me going, him and McCoy, total opposites who represented the best of their styles
"Street riding has turned into Mike Hoder or it's flatland trials" 🤣🤣 Rooftop just lays it out there lol
I always remember the massive wallride shot from below that Dave is literally near the top of the wall!
Jeff Watson and Steve bio Bennett some of the first pics I ever had on my wall back in dull England in 81
Watch you boys talk it out! Makes me realize I was part of your conversation! 1980’s GT was my era Los Angeles .Venice, Huntington Beach 🤘🏼
R Willy is a visionary if you ask me
Rip to Dave’s wife and daughter,,,stay rad. Killer show…seen Dave in Brooklyn back in the day…
I switched from my GT Pro XL to a Dyno Pro Compe in "86/"87 when I stopped racing (still have both). I loved Dyno from the git go, and it fit me really well. I was a Redline guy. If you used to say you had a Redline you had to flip it upside down to prove it. What a great era for BMX.
The Lord!
Still got a sticker signed by him from a show at a bike shop back in the 90s some time
holy commercials and doubled up cant even skip.
The mood kinda lowered a bit when Voelker mentioned his first wife and daughter passing away. you can see how sad Voelker got.......................................... Such a horrible feeling. God bless you Voelker and Pete. thanks for the memories hey rooftop, you in there as well.
Best podcast yet

If GT made a modern version of his frame with the bend in the toptube I'd buy it instantly
this was great, you guys.
"Who's got the set of allen wrenches?" - Looking back, I feel like somebody with a "name" brand could have made a mint selling components that were adjustable with a small crescent wrench (or pliers, or vice grip). "New for 87, the Peregrine Hobo Stem".

Hail Lord Voelker.
THE REASON I LOVE WALLRIDES
I got my first BMX bike in 1983 - it was a used Huffy Pro Thunder. Where are these “ Albino Jumping God” tee shirts? Lol so good!
Rooftop has them for sale on his insta.
Pete talking bout Felix and Devon... What is happening here? Total love for BMX!
Big boobacas, nice one Mike!

Edit :
22:23 freecoaster??
coaster-brake! rider is Todd Anderson.
@@paulcovey thanks man thought I was having a back to the future moment. This podcast is legendary and full of hilarious stories 🤣
back in the mid 80's i had every kid in the neighborhood riding coaster brake hubs with the brake shoes pulled out - ghetto freecoasters 20 years early
50:15 I think most people would say wallride to fakie 😂
Same sided one-handed one-footed invert on on vert no one dose that to this day....
Bosses!
must of watched agroman a thousand times...
More Rooftop cohosting please.
Freestylin’ & BMXA would have pros test entry-level bikes, which is why there’s some photos out there of “K-Mart bikes”.
When they start thinking about female freestyler hall of fame, they really should give the firsts spots to: Kris Dauchy and Corey Coffey, and then Nina Buitrago. IMHO
Did I sense some animosity towards Wilkerson a couple of times🤔
Fudger we need old dudes/new videos and new dudes/old videos.
At 1:13:40 the guy hitting the steamroller on the bank looked like Pete Kearney.
Nina on next please 🙏
Dave you were amazing sorry about that Knee you too Rooftop what’s good about both of you guys as you never did anything halfway it was either all the way full send or nothing
Big Boobacas🤣
Talking about the hall of fame and saying there are 50 people who should be in there from the 80s? To me why aren't they? Put them all in if they deserve it
NOT CORNY DAVE
Only think that makes me not care about Dennis not there are these 3.
Just wear a helmet ya fashion queen.
It's still okay that bikes make us happy isn't it?
Silly nomenclature changes...
Meet Dave at BMX.. event back the 90s... St el Monte ca.. he performed.. a great show.. but he looks way different that how l meet him.. but he is a legend.... ❤
Great show with Dave, and pete. true pioneers. If you Guys Can Get mike Dominguez on the show.
Really interested in Jeff Watson. Even digging deeper it seems like there is only 25 seconds of video out there. Someone with vhs collections has to have more from that session.
Need to get DMC on here.. epic
The Lord!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
