As a 54 yr old BMXer all I can say is WOW!!!!! Thanks for sharing. AMAZING!!!!!!!
55 yr old here, what he said... 👍🏻🤘🏻🤓
That's awesome, I honestly appreciate the older BMXs rather than the newer punk ones 😃
51 here. Nice collection!!
54 here and would love to see this in person.
Back in the day we used one bike for everything. There wasn't the specialized bikes like today. I remember seeing the first freestyle bike and was blown away.
Just turned 50 and seeing this has me drooling, reminiscing, and filled with happy nostalgia. I have to visit this place someday. And I’m stoked I still got my 86 Master, the most important piece of my childhood and teenage years. Thanks for the video and thanks to Chad, what a rad dude.
I am 56 years old and love these boys bring back memories
I’ll be turning 58 and had a scrambler. Then my parents bought be a Rampart and owned a mongoose with mag wheels. The good old days. We started it all. We use to jump dirt hills and stairs.
I’m an old school Bmx’er from Belgium who started in 79’ and raced for 12 years. When I quite racing I donated all my bikes and gear to the old school bmx museum in the Nederlands.
Very cool..im 60 years young just getting into BMX..from my dragster days..have 6 kids with and grandchildren.. ive gone collector and i ride my bmx bikes❤ love the collection..looks like ill be getting on a plane from queensland Australia
There are a lot of bmx collectors down there in Australia my friend. Ive shipped a few bmx parts to them.
You are a stud, for getting into BMX at 60 years of age. SALUTE!
You can’t beat OLD SKOOL BMX.May be I’m biased as I grew up with BMX in the early to mid 1980s,so I saw it become huge.Virtually everyone I knew had a BMX bike(the most popular bike was the PK RIPPER,so many people I know owned them, especially street riders) but GTs, DIAMOND BACKS, REDLINES, MONGOOSE SUPERGOOSES, RALEIGH BURNERS,were also popular.I love the fact that so many people in their 50s(like myself),60s and even 70s, are riding both 20 and 24 inch BMX bikes.BMX seemed to go through a slump in the late 80s and early 90s, but those that were still racing, freestylin and street riding kept it going when loads had abandoned it for mountain bikes. And now you have the likes of SE, MONGOOSE, RALEIGH, SKYWAY and HUTCH for example who have rereleased 80s BMX bikes.MONGOOSE rereleased the SUPERGOOSE and CALIFORNIA a couple of years back, and they sold out(some ending up on eBay and selling for STUPID prices).I’m waiting for MONGOOSE to rerelease the PRO CLASS in 24 inch as the PRO CLASS was a classic in both 20 and 24 inch and I’ll be buying a 24 inch PRO CLASS.😉
@@derekharrison1582NOBODY cares DUDE
@@derekharrison1582I’ve also noticed over the years the geometry of bmx has changed ever since they moved on from threaded forks where it was easier to raise and lower the stem. Mid school bikes were super heavy and small with the bolt on style stems. They should re release a batch like old school with mag wheels
That's SICK DUDE !!!
I was smart enough to keep my Gary Turner I raced in the late 70's.
Walking Encyclopedia of everything BMX with a massive collection.
Awesome collection! Sad to see my favorite bike wasn't covered. The JE Torker.
I'm 48 and still have all my bikes. They are in my parents basement and I haven't even thought of them in over 30 years until I saw this video. Diamond Back formula one, Free Agent mini, Boss, Schwinn Predator, Various GT, Hutch, Skyway. CW Racing scooters. Lots of Redline cranks, dk necks, z-rims never used. I'll be busy next weekend!! Woo-hoo
Im almost fifty n these bikes are still so freaking cool . awesome 💯
That silver hawk with the answer pro fork and crupi pedals are definitely my era. Awesome collection.
Dam what a collection of BMX history, it’s hard to know where to look it’s like BMX heaven everywhere lol
Living in the uk it breaks my heart I might never get to visit this place but it’s now on my bucket list 👍amazing stuff keep it up guys 🙏
There is an old school BMX museum in the Nederlands.
Hey..........The English made it to Richmond... over 300 years ago.....and you can too
Chad the man the coolest dude ever. Those jerseys would look sick in thin frames all each displayed on each ceiling tile. Cover the whole ceiling 🙌🏽🫂. One wheel set I was hoping to see was the spin carbon fiber racing wheels late 90s early 2000,s. 🙌🏽🫡
tell me more??? shoot us a message on facebook or ig
Amazing! I remember bike shops in San Diego looking like this in the 70s - early 80s.. what an amazing collection
Chad the man... The myth.... The legend 👍😎🚴👍🏁
I'm 42 years old. I loved my 97 Haro group 1 Ti. Had sst orgy gyro on it, Matt Hoffman bars, GT grips, alienation/redline 48 spoke wheels with flip flop rear hub. Rode that bike everywhere. Sadly, it sat in my parents' garage for years, and they just gave it away to some kid. Hope the kid loved it as much as I did. But I still wish I still had my first true Real BMX bike. Have so many stories about riding it. And the story all started after i got hooked because of watching Rad the movie at a friend's house. That movie was our holy grail into bmx
I'm 56 and had these bikes when I raced back in the day. Dude, it brought back serious memories. Thanks, my man.
nice. one of those bmx plus magazines....... i am in it. i am over 50 and i still ride bmx. i have talked to you before. but ya i still do and make flatland videos. race videos. street. park etc. cool place bro. good stuff. happy 4th bro.
When I was a kid (56 now) a kid in our neighborhood had one of those Yamaha suspension bmx bikes. We all loved to jump it, because it had the suspension, and although it was a tank, it handled pretty good compared to what were were riding, which was mostly junk. This was around 1977/78
Amazing and just amazed!!
Cathedral of dreams😊thankyou so much( OG 56yr-started BMXing 1978)Amazing shop/museum 😊
8:51 I had that S&M PBR frame and the S&M Holmes next generation frame in black back in the day 🔥👍🚲💨
I raced Bmx in the 90's with Brian the wiz Wizmerski!
This video brang back alot of memories. Cool stuff!
The wiz was just that, dude was Bad A!
I'm52 this collection brings me lot of good memories.❤🎉😊
Chad is a badass dude. Long live bmx history. 🙏🏼
Thanks 🙏🏽
Chad is such a good dude and Powers BMX is an amazing shop..
dude thank you so much!!!
Got one of his power's bike shop decals on the back of my buddy's Bobtail truck that does delivery all through the Southern California ❤❤❤❤
Still have the GT seat I bought from power's bike shop on my bike till this day 🎉🎉🎉
Did my heart good when the first bike I saw, in prime viewing position, was the Yamaha Moto-Bike. So sweet! Dad broke the piggy bank and my brother and I both got very special Christmas surprises. They were $120 each in 1974 and a huge splurge for a Greyhound bus driver, but he rode Yamaha and wanted his kids to as well. What a blast!
What an amazing collection of bmx mags, I had quite a bit, back in the day, only have a handful left. Btw, I love all the bikes, but the purple HUTCH TRICKSTAR, is a dream bike of mine, WOODY ITSON STYLE
Wow... Absolutely amazing collection.. This made me think of my Hutch Trickstar, I loved that bike.... good times
Awesome collection there, I rode a Brackens frame in the mid 90's .
Everytime I go to Powers to pick something up, I end up walking around and checking out the collection. Amazing.
Where is this at?

56 here and still ride BMX that collection is amazing those early BMX bikes hit right in the feels man.
WHATTTTT….I’m stopping at every goodwill I see that’s super rare to find!!
Just thought if an idea for the jerseys... How about using the "flip through" poster display rack like at wally world?
Mount jerseys back to back maybe on the flip through display rack. With or without a separation sheet?
Im 55 and started in BMX when I was 13, love it and follow it until today. This is amazing man, awesome work! Its sad that you don't see that many kids on BMX bikes on the streets these days...
What u said😂
@@staffh3815 I'm not sure if you understood.....I'm saying BMX bikes are not as popular as they were in there 80's and 90's....or am I wrong??
ok...I messed up with the order of words....."kids on BMX bikes" :)
@@staffh3815 Just edited hahaha
I was saying I agreed with what u said ,sorry
My kids raced at Hampton 2002-2007. Great times. Remember seeing Chad at all the races. Good dude. Miss Hampton and Virginia BMX.
dude!! come back!!
Chad at Powers BMX sold me a 1994 GT Power series 24" chrome frame and fork and it ROCKED!
Totally rad, dude. I agree with the "leave it original" philosophy...clean it up, service it, make it functional and call it a day. Restored bikes are cool too and they're definitely nice to look at but there is just something magical about an old BMX bike in its original condition and the story that it tells.
right!! they are only oringal once!!! and we love the storys that they show!
I had a set of Profile Racing 20” billet bmx wheels. They would be worth a fortune today.
A blast from the past! I am over 50 and remember a lot of those bikes! I had a Redline RL 20 2….
Old school nbmx days for me.
This just taken me to the late 80's when i was ranked 9 uk .3 ea .
Still have my frame and forks in the loft .
I think it needs to be riden again.
I just turned 50 in August and this brings me back to the bike shops of the 80s
……growing up in 60’s we were early on what would become BMX and modded our 20” stingrays bars, tires, seat. Reduce weight and remove fenders, chain guard etc…because we were too young for a dirt bikes. We made a moto track that many would come from miles to ride. At almost 65 now I’m still a fan of bmx, skateboarding and surf life. Thanks for the great tour vlog 🤙🏼
52 yrs old and this was our childhood throughout the early to mid 80s.. We had a couple of BMX stores in our CT town with a couple of tracks that were in made in the woods by local neighborhood kids... It was such a bookmark in all the guys who grew up in this era... Jst to see some of these bikes again brings you right back to one of the best memories growing up... Myself as well as many of the guys I grew up with could walk around this place playing remember when for hours... This is truly a very special place of not only BMX history but as well as a piece of American culture!!
Amazing video! Amazing collection! Thanks so much Brant for supporting our WE WERE RAD book project and buying a copy!
We have the book here it rules!!
Those Gatorade NBL number plates on the wall took me ALL the way back!!
haha yesss
Wow ,what a collection. That brought back some cool memories 4 me. See some bikes my brothers had and I'm sure theirs a few in their I had aswell. Brother were into the bmx race bikes and I got into freestyle growing up and still have scars to remind me of the good times.
Nice. Early 80's Eastern VA. BMX'er here. Traded my Supergoose race bike for a GT Pro Performer and went all Freestyle by mid 80s. Still my fav bike which I was hoping to see in this video, the SE P.K. Ripper! Aluminum color, Landing Gear & with black Skyways & comp 3's = all time!!
gotta come thru and check it out! we’re just in richmond
I know nothing about BMX at all but this was dope as hell, I respect anyone who is attempting to preserve history regardless of what kind of history it is.
thank you so much!!
Sooo amazing to see this wow
the profile limited run stuff 😻😻😻 i got the kaleidoscope hub set and i didn't get the matching stem bc i only run front loads and now i regret not getting it 😭 so cool seeing all the sets together!!!
This takes me the 1980s and early 1990s . When I was kid me buddies ride our BMX bikes. Every week we use to go bike park . Those was some good times . This is a amazing collection .
I had one of those square Hawk frames back in '94. I wish I never got rid of it, but as a 16yo kid you don't understand how novelty type things become rare & valuable. I looked a cpl years ago & they're selling for like 3 grand.
Feel exactly the same about my black chrome edition 95’ or 96’ Diamondback Viper. I picked it out at my local bike shop , Ringling Bikes in Bradenton FL (closed now). I remember they sold Dyno’s and DB and many other brands. But according to the salesman, the DB Viper was better than the Dyno GT. Couldn’t tell you if that was actually true or not but I def felt like I had a cooler bike than most other kids in the neighborhood with there Dyno GT’s.
Thanks for sharing...brought back some fond memories 😊
Thanks for the review ✅ brings back old memories ✌🏻😊
The blue Schwinn Scrambler at the front of the museum is a late 70s Schwinn 36-36. That was my first bike. I put on a pair of Dale Enterprises MX-60 rims. It was a heavy bike. The holy grail BMX bike for me is the '77 Suzuki or the '77 Jammin' Jimmy Weinert.
Everyone wanted those GT's in the 90's. Heck I still want one lol Great collection
BMX forever,,, great vid,,, thanks soo much really took me back in time!!!!!
Wicked set up, I started with a home made BMX back in 82, before my mum bought me a new Morrison Super X ( New Zealand made ) in 83. Started racing it did pretty well but bike was very heavy so then got a second hand Redline 500a before getting my pride and joy a new Hutch Pro Racer in 84 costing NZ $1100,which I raced until I stopped in 88,I swapped out the 1pce cranks for 3pc profile costing NZ $500 with bear trap pedals. Other bikes I had along the way were a Craig Campbell signature freestyle bike, Mongoose Supergoose and a Pantha 24inch ( NZ made ). Old school 20 inch 80s BMX here in NZ go for good money as they become rarer.
Powers BMX the only place I've been that had my whole lifes history on bikes in one place. The Stoked 😎 emotions were overwhelming !!! 🤙
im 49, so much drool in this video, so many things i never actually used, but have seen or heard of during my racing years in the nbl. i was all about redline back then, had many other bikes, but redlines just spoke to me lol. but this collection is just insane!!!!!!!! also gotta say, the haro master is the holy grail of freestyle even over the pro performer from gt. and it blows me away that you got one for that price.
❤wow! Nice ! Wheres d museum?
I saw a flash of my old GT BMX in the beginning of the video. I had the chrome with the blue/gold/red GT BMX graphics/decals! I ride my Robinson everyday, sometimes nights too!
Seen some S&m shield wrapped hubs in the case I want 😁
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
Never owned a BMX bike that was more of my youngest brother's Era but I love this what a cool collection. If you ever get the bug to start a Mountain Bike museum I have my minty late 80's Raleigh Chill.
I stopped by about a month ago and it's really overwhelming. Place is amazing and Chad is a awesome guy to talk BMX with
stoked!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
This is so cool, I've still got my green mongoose rogue i used to race, it's abit rusty but i still love it
Im not even a BMX rider but seeing all these bikes is so cool. I had a Dyno Compe back in the mid 90's but it got stolen.
That place is amazing I still have my favorite bike from the 90's. It was a Zreonine frame until it snapped the I used a Edlone RL340 frame with Skyway handle bars, Perigrine HP 48 rims and tyres, with a GT seat poll, Tioga crank and odyssey brakes and gyro. She is a classic beast and will always have it.
Oh man!I'm salivating!Pure Radness at its finest!Amazing!
Sooo cool! And powers first bike was one of my first. Still have it too.
I'm just 36 but so many memories, loved my holy cross bars and they really did whistle if u bombed a big enough hill on a windy day. So many things I've had or my friends had.
I’m 41 and still bombing on my 43 lbs built to hilt 03 Hoffman condor pro team, aftermarket frame and super forks , super nice big black bird 😊
Your collection puts USABMX Museum to shame! Awesome!
haha it’s not a competition but much appreciate it!
I'm 54 and I still have my Redline pl20 that I raced in the early 80s. It was my last bike that I raced but I also raced a Paterson A GT and a diamondback
Seriously CRAZY collection,I got an old stingray bike I can’t bring myself to sell…
You think this dude might be interested in a donation?
Deadly video, bro
Yeah we are always open to any bmx donations!!
Holy smokes reminds of growing up in the 80s. Love it brotha sic collection digging it
I grew up in the 70's I'm 59. The we took our Schwinn stingrays and put dirt bike handlebars on 'em and chopped 'em up, good luck finding a stingray these days
Andy Patterson was a classmate and a BMX pioneer, was the first in Bell Gardens to have a Stroker frame with Skyways, very jealous,
Loved this video
What a nerd😂👍
I remember walking into a bike shop back in 1996 and staring at me was that yellow Haro Blamo and I wish I had it
Where’s it at?
@@williamknutson6163 It was in Rundle street Adelaide Australia
For the shirts and jerseys those poster racks that you can scroll thru would be a awesome idea
yah that’s the best idea we have came up with so far
40yrs old and a old bmx rider I wish I have my old Robinson GT!
The 4th bike you showed. The 1974 Dan Gurney bike. I just bought back my Dan Gurney Eagle Mono Shock bike that i had at 14. I'm 57 now. So glad to get it back to pass on to my Grandson.
That’s so sick!!
Thank god somebody is doing this.
So bad ass. I wanna go.
Really Cool.
As your guest and you said ,some era of that collection will meen more to some than others.
As a child of the "'80''s. You're collection of race bikes and then the late 80''s Freestylers are killer.
Cheers from Australia.
I still have my 1986 GT Pro World Tour. I remember how happy I was to get it from Rockville BMX. I wish that store still existed so I could take my kids there and buy them bikes from the same place I got mine.
even better you can bring them to powers!!
That's awesome ton's of memories unlocked looking at so many of these. My first was a GT Interceptor
Hey dude that's one hell of a collection....my first bmx in Australia was a boomerang, it had rear coils that acted as suspension, totally rad for sure....moved to England when I turned 13 and got a diamond back, was absolutely stoked on that....a few years later progressing to a skyway and haro freestyler too after snapping the diamond back frame lol..... cheers to you 🤟🎶
R.I.P Stephen bro!!!! We all miss him everday bro!!!!! I love that you have his bike an helmet Stephen sadly took his life a few years ago an the front royal skatepark went downhill after they R.I.P to him he always made me ride better an good tips
Right it’s one the most important bikes to me
The one I remember most looking at it in Toys R Us as a kid was the Mongoose Decade (pale green with white Tuff II wheels, white stem, white seatpost). The year... 1987. My favourite BMX of all time. I only ever looked at this bike in a toy shop, it was far too expensive for my parents to buy me it!
I honestly believe perhaps the best days of a lot of our lives was the Christmas we got our first BMX. I had parents that pretended they hadn't got me it... nearly brings a tear to my eye. I still remember it, all chrome with dark blue pads. It wasn't any of these top brands like Redline/JMC/Skyline/Mongoose or whatever but I didn't care, I had a BMX 🙂I remember at some point it got stripped down presumably by my dad and sprayed black. I am sure it had orange mag wheels on it... just looked amazing.
He mentions in the video that the first BMX bikes had motorbike handlebars on them. Today, the grip part of a mountain bike handlebar is 22.2mm and on motorbikes it's the same diameter. As we all know, MTB came off the back of BMX. I wonder if they were always 22.2mm and how far back that sizing goes. 🤔
LOVE IT!
Oh man, I haven't seen a Schwinn Scrambler in forever (Ashtabula forks!)! I went from that to a Mongoose nickle-plated classic, but with traditional wheels. My friend Donny had MotoMags.
Why didn't I keep those old bikes???
Oh well, time to visit the museum!!!
Had a lot of fun watching this
stoked
Man , like that Yamaha bike , had one back in the day , easiest bike ever peddled , wish , I could find a ment one , love em 👍👍👍
Super cool, thanks for sharing!
Demasiado impresionante, me hace cuestionarme por que no seguí en el bicicross!! imcreible, maravilloso
I need a good excuse to take a drive down to Richmond... 😂
Man what a time to be alive.. early eighties for me.. I have my 83' Hutch Lil Holeshot still and i can ride it right now if I want to..
4:12 totally forgot about my diamond bmx in the 80s…definitely told a story to someone, me.
