this interview is great; sort of both light-hearted and serious at the same time. Kim really seems like a sweetheart. i'm a longtime SY fan, but began to lose interest right around the time Sonic Nurse had been released. it's weird (but not all that surprising) that both Thurston and Lee's post-SY work has become so hackneyed, while Kim has remained somewhat forward-thinking and inclined towards the experimentalism and rawness that made sonic youth so interesting in the first place. it's nice to hear her reflections here.
@@buzzawuzza3743 different strokes, etc. I've greatly enjoyed their work over the years. Nothing wrong with losing interest, listening to other artists instead. I'm glad that you dig their current work. No "sorrys" necessary.
Couldn't agree with you more about the post-SY (and even solo work/collabs, but ESPECIALLY post-SY), Kim's stuff is by far the most interesting, in my opinion.
Awesome convo! Luv Kim, so jealous, seems like the coolest chick ever to me. I would’ve also been extremely nervous meeting her too! Haha! Big Sonic Youth fan, no longer having them put out new albums sux big time for me but I get it, and it is what it is. Glad she seems to be doing well and I wish her all the best out of life, she definitely deserves it, as far as I’m concerned.
I've been listening to a lot of SY since rejoining the gym. I love Kim to death...along with all the female rockers like Shirley, Chrissie, Courtney and Hanna. It's a habit.
There's no reason to ask the question, since it's an old subject. She's fantastic period and nothing about her ex really needs to be brought into the story.
This guy thinks he's the enlightened justice who has all the answers. Who cares about that crust consensus? The weird app that brings it all together? Do your research
@Arthur Frayn sorry for the late reply. I was showing the dignified, elite, movers and shakers how to create a new continent for my thesis on the wonders of tape, tooth picks and twist ties to get the best results when crafting artificial limbs with simple household items. My work in philanthropy keeps me going and I wouldn't change anything about that. Um okay well to answer that question and the question of my humble beginnings on Candyland island please send $19.96 to an off shore account and we'll send you all the answers because that is how we role hombre. You're welcome I like helping people's lives and systematically dismantling the hopeless struggle against the man. You know what time it is okay. It's not exactly hammer time, or Miller time, or time for facts. That clock is ticking so order immediately and wait for further testing, liability for being poor, and the Kimberly show on ABC 6pm standard time for unstable weather patterns.

I'm sorry that you don't dig what Lee and Thurston are doing. They've both made excellent albums in the last bunch of years.

I think this was a great interview. Both of them achieved some real sincerity here. Thanks to both of you.👍

Thurston’s an idiot. I love her.

Great intro on this
Kim Gordon doesn’t need to constantly have questions about her divorce
it is kind of an elephant-in-the-room sort of thing, so maybe she feels like, "well it's gonna come up..."
i mean it came up in the book. *shrugs*

@@bkooo5363 Well they were in a band together for most of her life and that was basically her career, so yes it is kind of important.
Yes, she does. It’s the only vaguely interesting thing about her.
@@AFaceintheCrowd01 Eh, She is BY FAR the most interesting member of SY, in my opinion.
She was totally flirting with marc at the end there
As she proved before, she has terrible taste.
