I just bought some black jack piraracu black boots. They seemed dry and conditioned them after the firts wear. I love how soft and cool the leather is. I’m in southern cal and it was hot out today. I got a compliment the firts day out wearing them. I bought a smaller scale baby pirarucu.
Glad you made this video. Just got my new BlackJack Pirurucu boots delivered today. Within 10 minutes of putting them on I had multiple people tell me how great they looked.
I currently own 10 pairs of boots. I love boots and wear them everywhere. I work construction so I consistently wear out a pair of work cowboy boots every year. My favorite cowboy boots for work wear have been of late Double HH boots
Great video Black Jack Boots are one of the top of the line Customer service is superb Tim’s Boots is the place to go for your Black Jacks Thank you Jeremiah
I have some real pirarucu and got them all covered in mud after the rodeo. I know they will be damaged but any recommendations on how to clean the mud off properly without hurting them ??
" Definitely your best pair of cowboy boots man! Yep! Hey Jeremiah, your boots are just fantastic, true American style! I don't know the cleaning for these kind of boots but I do know that I use cobblers products and a special leather cream! When are you doing a video on resoling cowboy boots? See you later!"
Thanks so much buddy! Working on a leather half sole resoling video now and will be sending out a pair for work done this weekend. Will probably be a couple months before the video is done.
When I got mine boots at boot barn said to only use exotic leather conditioner. This was on for my new dan poast dorsal sea bass boot small scale. I have what you used on this video, are they just trying to sell me products? Or is there really a different in formulas?
There are different formulas but Bick 4 just works with a bunch of different types of leathers including exotics. Exotic conditioner would work fine too
I use it on my lizard skin Dan Post am I black Tony llamas and I just rub it in with my hands and then I take a a a cloth rag and I give him a good buff
I have no idea why but my fellow Mexican peeps LOVE the fish skin boots, especially in the wide square toe. My best guess is it's a newer "exotic" skin so it's technically more expensive than a normal ranch boot and it's eye-catching.
I live in Colorado where climate is way drier I bought the Cody James ones big purchase of mine but after every wear the skin feels so dry and I always notice a bit of the skin peel off after every wear it’s always a new area peeling I have conditioner and I have the boot trees but they always get dry after every wear what am I doing so wrong? I really don’t want the skin flaking on me it hurts me every time
Thanks Mike! There's two different styles of pirarucu scales for boots. The inverted which is more flaky looking and regular which is smoother looking but still has the diamond shapes
I have 18 pairs of all kinds of leather and toes, I think I need to add some of those pirarucus to my collection. But I like them with a more smoother look like the ones I've seen on the Yeehaw cowboy sight. That's when I really started liking em. I like those too though I love that toe. But not when they are too raggady looking.
I’m surprised you can use Bick4 on that… my uncle uses Bickmore Exotic on all his non-cow/buffalo leather. And yeah I test conditioner on the inner part of the pull tab.
I'm not a big fan of using cleaners on exotics because they dry out the leather. When I get my exotics really dirty or muddy I wait for them to dry and then still use a brush to get all the dirt off. Maybe I'll use a brush with stiffer bristles like a plastic brush to knock off all that dirt then use a rag to brush all the rest off. After I've done my best to remove all the dirt, I'll condition
@@JeremiahCraig I appreciate the response and input! I don’t like to wear my nicer boots places they’ll get muddy. But never is it my intentions to go out and get muddy 😂.
Pirarucu fish have really hard armored scales, which have been removed before being turned into boots, so alas, the waterproofing is gone! I think they soak up MORE water than some leathers, actually…
Hey Scott! That's very similar to the Randall that I did a video on recently. The difference is that the Luke looks to have toe in cut fq ostrich and stitching on the shaft rather than inlay. Both of those aspects makes the Luke about half the price of the Randall but a very similar build. Here's the link to my review: th-cam.com/video/wBBcZ_fBP_A/w-d-xo.html
Ok, you are forming a questionable relationship with this leather. 😆 Time to step back, save up or make a sponsorship deal, and get some crocodile boots.

I got some black ones too what do you use to condition them?
I always did wonder what could be done to maintain these boots! Super cool! I'm tempted to get me some of these in a V toe or 7 toe!!!
They make for pretty special boots!

Perfect! Thanks for this video! Used the code and got me a pair of inverted ordered and coming from black Jack and Tim’s boots!
That's what I'm talking about! Thanks for using the code!
Man this video is right on time! I just got a hold of one of my dream boots in Pirarucu leather and was wondering how to care for it!!

Just want to confirm the color of that black jack boot is cognac? I love it! I am about to purchase a similar pair.

Recommendations for heat resistant cowboy boot that can hike all types of terrains for wildland firefighting?
I'm not sure. I'll have to do some research and talk to folks but once I do I'll try to make a video about it

You should wear some long sleeved pearl snap embroidered Ely cattle man western shirts would look great with your boots.
Would love to! Maybe they're good for a sponsor ;-)
Just get a hold of them & see . I don't see why they wouldn't either way you needs few new ones & retro vintage ones.

I like to use blackrock conditioner for piracuro boots
Nice! I'll have to try some in the future. Thanks!
I've never cared how my boots turn out as long as they are conditioned. They are going to change color whether it's from conditioning or age.

Looks like giant pineapples for feet. I do not understand the fashion behind these
They sort of resemble the old school anteater boots which were very popular when they were legal.

Question, how would one condition distressed alligator?
Who said you can't tune a fish! Pirarucu is probably the most unique leather in boots & I have to find myself a pair in snip or 7 toe!. 👍
Very unique!
@@JeremiahCraig You know it man! Yeah they would be at the pinnacle of any collection small or great. 👍
Could you used anything to help protect these boots from rain/water

Have you used the Bickmore protector spray on these boots?

I'm not surprised anymore about the versatility of Bick 4 haha. I use it so much I have extra new bottles around I didn't even know about!
I also use the exotic on my piraruco and rattlesnake
I’ve gotta get me some of them.
For real!
Just like Wes Medel, I was wondering how pirarucu could be conditioned.
hey jc what conditioner would be best for the jc/bnv boot?
I've always used bick 4 and it works great. It's such a versatile conditioner!
Say I get these dirty.. like, more then just in need of a brush. Do you suggest a cleaner to use? New too these fish leathers.

Is Fish Skin Leather more waterproof?because it's a fish. Just curious.
Not at all unfortunately
