Huge fan of this band and Kevins’ playing / sound. Icing is a fucking CLASSIC.
Immaculada is ridiculously brilliant.
🤘🤘
Kevin is an amazing fuzz merchant. For anyone who has seen them live, what he's talking about is true: they sound way chunkier than a three piece and Kevin spends their tune in like he's almost "cultivating" that dense fog of sound.
Kevin, the most likely reason why your old Memory Man sounds that way is because the capacitors are probably going bad.
That type of analog solid state delay pedals is called "bucket brigade" delay because they run the signal through a chain of capacitors like people passing buckets of water along, and drawing off and outputting the signal from each capacitor as it gets passed along. Usually the fidelity is maintained fairly well as the signal repeats, with the timbre only becoming softer and darker as the iterations decay. But when the capacitors start to go bad, that can introduce artifacts into the signal which I suspect is the thing causing that raunchy sound you're getting from yours.
I wonder if it might be possible to reproduce the sound of shitty old capacitors in a bucket brigade delay, by way of some kind of mods.
This band is nuts
Yeah! Love Cherubs! Thanks for putting this up
No problem! Did you see their other Gear Masters episodes?
Thank you
No problem!
Shout out to Brad Featherstone! I just noticed this was shot at the Empty Bottle in Chicago.
😀
All the bass players 😳
I've gotta give him a lil' respect for using his "Valley Girl" term of "literally" in the correct way! 😂 95.999% use it poorly and it doesnt make sense. I love it when ppl use the word properly! Plus that Sovtech mini stack reminds me of my of my old Marshall Mini stack cept the sovteck looks to be an old valve one were as my one was a SS and not a tube one. Ive gotah find one. Thanks!
