Not the way Angus recorded it. Needs to be all picked alternate picking. Music video with hand in the air was just for show. I've never actually seen anybody do it for how long it goes on in the recording (almost 5 mins with little breaks). Most people, including Angus, stop after a minute or so. And he sucks playing it live. Also because he is running around and putting on a show. So it doesn't matter.
I just bought this one on Saturday. I am in the US, and attended the Sweetwater Guitar Fest. They had them in store for $99 USD. Which may be their current website call in deal also. I also own the Jim’s 800, and V550. All three are really nice, especially when you factor in the price. The important thing to do with ALL of the Ampworx pedals is to check the firmware. They all had an update and it definitely improved the sound.
You gotta love Lee : “I’ve gone back to my roots, I’ve gone back to my roots…cheap stuff”. 🤣🤣🤣. We can all learn from Lee, and Paul’s, perspective. If it sounds good, it is good.
I was super tempted to get one of these. I ended up with a walrus audio acs1 instead. They’re on sale right now, and I got an extra 15% off for my first order from walrus audio. For the extra $100, I can use my own IR if desired, and it has 6 built in instead of 1, as well as run stereo amps (fender, marshall, vox). The tc stuff is huge bang for buck though.
This petal does everything from classic rock to country to blues to jazz and everything in between. Put a gain petal in front of it and it can definitely go high gain.
Sorry, but I don't know why you would "give them a wide berth" if they cost more. The modelling is really, really good. Don't just assume that because it's not UA/Strymon/insert brand you aspire to own money it must be worse.. But I know that a lot of people still listen with their eyes, if you know what I mean. Great demo, Thanks!
What I mean is if this was £300 I would much prefer to get a used Iridium just for the amount of extra features you get alone, leaving aside whether you think the Iridium sounds better or not.
I just picked up an excellent Marshall Origin 20 from Reverb as my first tube amp. As a Novice Moving from a Spark Go I now fully understand the whole Tube AMP thing and can’t stop playing! Of course I feel like I have just opened up an aladdin’s cave of pedal tones! Somehow my life has become that bit brighter for the discovery…..and no doubt my wallet a bit lighter going forward! 😂
Funny how I was thinking about buying a TC Electronic Ampworks about a year ago, just couldn't find any good sounding demos and decided not to. I'd love to see you guys demo some of the plexi style pedals from Carl Martin as I just recently bought their Panama (early EVH) variation for about £90 and absolutely love it.
what's wrong with rectifiers? I'm sure you did a video not too long ago and was surprised. I run a single rec and she's a beauty. I have to say this video is the best example i've heard of these TC pedals. Great job. Driven tone sounded thick but lacking air and top end clarity, but that could also be the chosen IR. I'd like to hear it with green backs or V30's maybe.
I've got a Marshall, don't need a Marshall, but I've been looking at the UAX LION. Maybe this would work for the few songs I need it for if my amp went down. Thanks, sounds pretty good to me.
got one cheap too and i love it in my rig or used direct to house phenomenal gear , i disagree it does compete with other modelers it does need extra reverb or some modulation but as a 1 sound for a gig it's great you do need to know how to use vol/tone though ;)
That look you both gave straight after the sausage comment. 😂 I plugged into Tonex last night, this pedal sounds better than any capture I downloaded amd I went through all the Satriani amps, 5150, Soldano, Mesa, Marshall captures. Just goes to show you you don't have to spend to get half decent tone!
Can someone explain WHY IN THE HELL pedal manufacturers that create modeler style setups ( "you can use this straight to the pa!") simply refuse to put an XLR out??
@@MadMagicPaul that's cool but 9 times out of 10, house sound will slap a DI box on your 1/4 inch, or you'll have to bring one. For example my mixer rack setup I have it configured for all XLR. So no, it doesn't matter if it's technically the same, in practical use, having XLR out is important.
@@MadMagicPaulOK that's fair but my 200 buck fly rig has XLR. It's a choice for sure. Also I had a UA Ruby and that thing was expensive and it also had the 1/4 inch out.
XLR out is also good, but when choosing between 1/4 inch jack and XLR on a small product where there can only be one and not both, then a balanced 1/4" jack was chosen.
Sweetwater had them for their Guitar Fest at $99 USD in store. And it is possibly their current website call in deal. I just picked up this exact pedal for that price. Way cool!
Nahhh, it sounds cheapy - the BnB tone was gritty compared to Angus smooth overdrive. There are free plug ins that can nail it even in the free Garageband.
@@TheStudioRatsthat is the biggest flaw with these pedals series. You can’t load another IR in them. While you can bypass the built in IR and use your own IR, that means spending money almost equivalent of the pedal cost for another pedal which defeats the point of the lower price.
@@TheStudioRatsdid Lee check the firmware? Being he bought it used it could be on the original firmware version. On some of these the updated firmware improved the IR, among a few other items.
TC TonePrint pedals are great if you haven’t tried them. I have the Flashback II delay, and Corona mini chorus in the effects loop of my Marshall Jubilee. Dozens of sounds beamed from the app; authentic recreations of classic pedals and settings.
Lee is back to the budget gear! We all love Lee!
I have a lot of respect for anyone who can do that opening AC/DC lick. I’ve been working on that for a little while and man it’s tough! Good job!
Cheers SP
I think the little boy grin tells it all!
I can do it the cheater way but not the real way 😢😂
It’s a beauty, but Angus picks every note on the studio version.
Not the way Angus recorded it. Needs to be all picked alternate picking. Music video with hand in the air was just for show. These series with Lee are really enjoyable.
This guy could make anything sound amazing
That thing has the sound. I think I need one!
Always love to see a Lee video.

Yep, this one was updated before we filmed.
I bought one as soon as it came. Directly into my interface it’s fantastic
Can you turn off or bypass the IR for running it into a power amp and speaker cab?
@@GrungyChrisyep, just plug into the “out” instead of the DI
Great videos as allways by you guys, excellent pedal for the price
Welcome back Lee, we missed you being in the Budget Gear Club. 😊
Great find Lee, keep em coming. Paul, where's the Aldi tropical Blast!😁
Aldi has sold out due to the last video.

Lee's indeed a sound genius ....he knows what's worth digging a tad better. Well done guys 🙂
That’s bargain of the century! Such a good sound for low budget setups. Can’t go wrong. Would love to hear this with a Les Paul Junior and P90 ❤

I love TC, but reviewers really hated these pedals so I thought the Behringer effect had shown through. Sounded great.
Just so you know TC Electronic is still a bunch of people in Denmark doing all of the products ;)
I was really impressed for the money
Would love to hear this out through the small PA (EV) like you did with the Tonex
This petal does everything from classic rock to country to blues to jazz and everything in between. Put a gain petal in front of it and it can definitely go high gain.
It has a ts overdrive circuit built into it, that alone makes it worth the purchase

A remarkable product, thanks for sharing, it's great value for money ✌️👍💜😊
I totally agree!
Nice sounding pedal. I was wondering how it sounds plugged into the front of the amp. I have a 59 Fender Bassman Reissue. I bet it would be cool.
Well you've got the shorts , the SG but where's your school cap and satchel ? Another great vid Paul.
Angus has better legs than me!

Try the combo 65. It’s great and has reverb
You guys need to check out the vs audio platinum. It’s such an awesome silver jubilee in a pedal
I would have liked to hear some Beano album riffs.

The Lion is better, but I don’t know if it’s $250 more money better.
It’s funny, I really didn’t like the lion pedal. It sounded great on some of the other channels
Be interested to hear it with some not-customshop pickups as well.
Impressionnant 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I've had my eye on this and the Jim's 800 for a while. Might buy both but I would love a review of that too!!!

It's quite boxy and dull-sounding, but for the price, it's really not bad at all. It certainly sounds better than most affordable amp's OD channel.
I have the jims 8oo ,which is great but I wish I,d got this one now!

The real Marshall JTM is a lot cleaner than that.
Great stuff gents !
Much appreciated!
Sounds great 👍
if you own a marshall amp do you need this pedal?
how do set a non marshall amp with this pedal?
Not really a rip off of the UAFX Lion, is it?
Can someone explain WHY IN THE HELL pedal manufacturers that create modeler style setups ( "you can use this straight to the pa!") simply refuse to put an XLR out??
Because a balanced TRS socket is electrically identical to a balanced XLR and cheaper to put in. Takes up less room too.

It's $149.00 USD and that is 116.76 British pounds currently.
Maybe in the US but Thomann are selling them for £86

Hmm… I’m not that impressed. I think the J .45 by J Rockett is the better choice here…?
They are different, The J45 is an overdrive pedal this is a preamp with ir.

Now play Snakes for the divine.
Which pickups are you running in the SG? Sounds killer.
They are what is comes with. As far as I know they’re custom buckers
Its pretty magic sounding. My SG doesn't sound at all like this
The Japanese prices!!! LOL!!!!
angus has no reverb nor delay..
He also has no trousers…… mostly
That IR is really boxy.

Too much compression in your recordings
There is no compressor pedal.
Dude, I need this box. How many watts is it? Does it have a sweet spot? Is it gender neutral? Can it get Eddy's "negro sound?" Asking for a friend
$149.99 on ebay. $149.00 on sweetwater, ffs. Thumbs down for improper pricing information. took less than a minute to look up the correct price.
Did you do the conversion to British Pound? He said 99 quid not dollars. Not saying the conversion will add up, just making a point.
Just get the nux trident! Have you tried that beast?
I have not, I’ll check it out.
